Chapter 17 - Going Deep Into Your Mind

The boys and I made our way through the halls of Atlantica's royal palace, swimming towards the throne room to meet up with King Triton.

If I wasn't so caught up in getting ready to tell everyone about what I saw, I would be going out of my mind at the fact that I had been turned into a mermaid! I had a fish tail, I could see and breathe underwater, which I couldn't do before because the water stings my eyes, and my hair is flowing!

Which obviously could happen without the need of being a mermaid, but the fact that I am one now just makes that fact more exciting!

Anyways, the boys and I swam down the hall of the palace, going under a large archway and into the throne room. The room was surrounded by faded white pillars with a light blue like sandy floor. Near the end of the room was the shell like throne, and King Triton sat there, awaiting our arrival with his red crab assistant, Sebastian.

Not to be confused with our Sebastian.

"Wizards, I am glad to see that you are well." Triton greeted. "My men saw you coming in from above. You took quite the hit."

"We thank you for your sympathy, your majesty." Ben replied, placing his fist over his heart as he and Sebastian bowed respectfully, me quickly following behind. "And thank you for saving us. We are in your dept."

"Ah, there's no need for that. It's not every day I turn humans into mermaids." Triton teased with a wink.

The red crab coughed, waving his claw at the king. "Your majesty?"

The king's eyes widened, shaking his head as he composed himself. "Ah yes of course, thank you Sebastian. Now, let's get down to business shall we?"

I mentally sang, "To defeat the Huns" in my head after hearing that. I mean come on, wouldn't you?

"We shall." Ben nodded as he and Sebastian straightened themselves.

With a wave of his trident, the king summoned a energy orb. The energy inside it circled around like a whirlpool until the image of Mickey Mouse's face appeared inside of it.

"Phew! I'm not late am I?" The mouse spoke up.

"Not at all Mr. Mouse." Triton replied. "Sebastian, could you enlighten us?"

"Of course your majesty!" The crab swam back up, climbing his way back up to the arm rest.

"My apologies, I was referring to the Wizard." Triton apologized.

With the sudden realization, Sebastian, the wizard, swam forward.

"What we all witnessed earlier was no ordinary thunderstorm. It was the work of the Dark Anomalies. But not just any dangerous category. This time around, it was their leader. Their creator." Sebastian explained.

The red crab squealed with fear as he fainted, falling off the side of the throne as King Triton sat in his throne with shock, his mouth gaped open.

"Are you certain it was him?" Mickey asked.

"It had to be. That thing had the same glowing eyes we saw on that thunder cloud before we went toe-to-toe with Jafar." Sebastian answered.

"I've heard of that skirmish." Triton muttered, cupping his chin. "And it escaped that time?"

"Sadly, yes. When we intervened, it cut off his deal with Jafar and took off." Ben added.

"This is very troubling." Triton sighed.

"Agreed. This is its second sighting. If this keeps up, we could be in serious trouble." Mickey spoke up.

"Ava," I looked up to see Sebastian glancing my way as he waved me over. "Tell them what you told us."

"Huh?" I raised a brow at the boy.

"You know," Ben recalled before hushing his voice to a whisper. "The face?"

"Oh yeah!" I slapped myself in the face, completely forgetting this vital information.

"Avalyn? Is something wrong?" Mickey asked me with concern.

I swam up to Sebastian's side who gave a nod with assurance, patting my shoulder as he swan back towards Ben.

"The thing is Mickey, I think I discovered something about the leader of the Dark Anomalies. Something I hope you all don't know about." I began.

"Explain yourself Chosen One." King Triton elaborated.

Firstly, I bowed in respect of the sea king, but turning my attention back to both him and the energy orb with Mickey's face.

"When that thing struck me with its electrical blast, just before I blacked out, I saw something. A image flashed in my mind." I explained.

"A face? A face of what?" Mickey questioned.

"A face... of a boy. A human boy, a young kid." I answered, raising my hands slightly to emphasize my surprise.

"What did this boy look like?" Mickey asked me, seeming a lot more concerned than usual.

"Well... he had light brown hair, quite short actually. The image was kind of blinding, but I'm pretty sure he had light skin, and then... he had these, bright yellow beading eyes." I explained, my voice cringing on the last part.

King Triton seemed quite surprised at the description. "Hmm... I don't believe I know anyone with that kind of description. Especially the eye colour. I've never seen a human boy with that shade before."

"Maybe for contact lenses?" Ben shrugged.

"I've seen more of those on cos-players and anime characters." Sebastian admitted.

"Um, Mickey?" Sebastian, the crab, spoke up, pointing up at the orb.

I looked over at the orb, Mickey staying awfully silent. "Everything okay Mickey? You seem quiet."

"Avalyn... are you sure you saw the face of a boy? With that eye colour?" Mickey asked with a gulp.

"It's the truth! I swear!" I stated.

"Ava has never lied to us about anything." Ben added as he took a quick glance at me. "Right?"

"Oh yeah, totally." I nodded with a thumbs up.

"Oh, okay." Mickey slowly nodded. "I need to deliver this news to 'The Man' immediately. Good work today Wizards. That some time off, all three of you earned it."

The two boys agreed, waving off and saluting the mouse.

"And Avalyn, if you happen to do see that face again, could you let me know?" Mickey asked me.

I raised a brow at the mouse again slowly. Something about this was feeling very odd. "Uh... sure. I can do that."

"Perfect! I will be in contact with you shortly. King Triton, may you please escort them back to the Magic Kingdom?" Mickey asked, looking over at the sea king.

"Of course Mickey." Triton nodded.

"See ya real soon!" Mickey waved as his face vanished and the orb disbursed into dust.

"Well... that went well." Sebastian, the crab, commented.

"Does anyone else agree that Mickey seemed a bit off during that last part of the meeting?" I spoke up, looking over at the boys.

"Yeah, he seemed pretty spooked to me." Ben agreed.

"He must know something. If that's the case, then this so called 'The Man' must know about it the Dark Anomalies leader too, if Mickey mentioned reporting this to him." I replied.

"Whoa, whoa, are you saying our boss and the mouse is keeping secrets from us?" Sebastian asked me, waving his hands in disbelief.

"For now, I'm not assuming anything, but that's what I'm thinking." I answered. "And seriously, who exactly IS 'The Man' everyone keeps mentioning?"

"Only a few Wizards have gotten the chance to meet him. As the years went by since the 60's, less and less get the privilege." Ben explained.

"I wonder why..." I muttered.

There was a sudden cough as the three of us looked up to see King Triton push himself up from his throne, swimming down towards us. "I don't mean to interrupt."

"Not at all King Triton. It is about time we should head off. We won't over stay our welcome for much longer." Ben assured.

"Thank you again for saving us." I thanked the merman. "Um... you wouldn't happen to know where our stuff went?"

"Hmm? Oh yes!" He activated his trident, summoning a bubble with all three communicators and the Beauty & The Beast Mirror. The bubble split into four, hovering over to their owners. "Do not worry. As long as they stay in the bubble, they won't get soaked."

"Thank you again." I smiled, taking the bubble with the Kimunicator in it.

I watched the boys get their bubbles and took an even greater notice when I saw Sebastian, the Wizard, take the bubble with the mirror. I didn't know he also used a mirror. I wonder what he used it for. Does it have something to do with the image of the boy I saw in the glass? Maybe it's a friend of his? A fellow Wizard he keeps in touch with?

"Ava? You ready to go?" Ben spoke up.

"Hmm?" I shook my head, leaving my trance behind as I smiled at the two boys. "Yep!"

Triton waved his staff, pointing off towards a trail of sand that looked like a road. "Follow that road. It will take you to the shores of Fantasyland. Once you come up to the surface, your tails will turn back into human legs. I wish you all good luck."

"Thank you your majesty!" Ben grinned as we waved goodbye, taking off out of the throne room.

******

The man in the suit was sitting at his desk, taking down some notes when a sudden knock came at the door of his office. Well, it wasn't necessarily a knock. It was more like a tap.

"Come in!"

The door magically opened on its own, as a blue, yellow, and red bird flew into the room. The flapping of its wings catching the man's attention as he looked up at the creature.

"Ah, Zazu!"

"Sir," Zazu greeted, perching himself on the desk as he bowed his wings respectfully. "I have news."

"What brings you by at this hour? It's not time for the morning report." The man chuckled.

"It's a message from Mickey. The Chosen One and her team were attacked earlier today. He says it's argent." Zazu pulled the string around his right leg, a little note rolled up and tied around it. He plucked the note in his beak, handing it to the man.

"Thank you Zazu." The boss nodded at the bird.

"Very good sir." Zazu nodded before he bounced off of the desk, and flew out of the room.

The man turned his seat around to face the large back window that had a view of the entire world of Disney. With the note in his hand, he read the message from the mouse. With each passing sentence and word, the man's eyes widened with a mixed reaction of surprise, fear, and... relief.

He lowered his arm, sinking back into his leather chair as he stared up at the ceiling.

"After all of these years..."

He slowly stood up from his chair, taking a few steps closer to the giant window as he leaned his right arm against the glass, holding a tight grip on the note in his hand as he looked out at the view, seeing the flash of lightning and a thunder cloud hovering towards Adventureland.

"... He's back, and alive."
