Chapter 14 - Friends On The Other Side

Authors note: Wattpad keeps glitching this update -_-

If the chapter suddenly stops when Avalyn says "Well that was... something." ... THAT'S NOT THE ENDING! There's a whole BIG chunk of it missing!

But if you can see the bit after that, good for you! :D

It seems to be working fine on mobile though... But if not, let me know and I'll try to fix it! THAT PART IS IMPORTANT!

*********

After a big breakfast, the cousins and I were over at the hotel arcade, checking the games they had to offer.

It was still raining outside, so that was a bummer.

All of the parents were spending some quality time among themselves while the grandparents kept on eye on us kids. It's not like we were doing anything illegal, we're just playing video games.

Jam and Ty were going against each other in Air Hockey, Poppy was trying her luck on Deal or No Deal, Vince was playing Fruit Ninja, and I was jamming out on Guitar Hero.

I got so into the game, I almost didn't hear the famous Kimunicator beep. I paused the game, pulling the device out of my sweater pocket.

Instead of a video call, it was a text message from Sebastian.

I found it a bit odd, because normally I would receive a call from Ben.

I clicked the green button, opening the envelope that was on screen.

"I need you, now! It's a emergency!" - Sebastian.

A emergency? Was it another Dark Anomalies sighting? It had to be something big if Sebastian of all people was contacting me.

But why did Ben not get in touch with me? Was something wrong with him? Was he in some kind of danger?

My mind was racing with possible scenarios as I quickly typed a reply.

"Where do you want to meet? What's the emergency?" - Avalyn

I was so close to typing in, "What's the sitch?", but if it was as big of a mysterious and terrible situation as Sebastian was making it, I thought right now wasn't the best time.

Sebastian wasted no time in replying.

"Just teleport, I've locked onto your coordinates from Star Command." - Sebastian.

I groaned under my breath nervously as I looked around the arcade. Me and my cousins and grandparents were the only ones in the room right now. I can't teleport here or else they'll see me. I looked over to the side, seeing Jam and Ty finish their game.

"Hey Jam, Ty, can one of you guys fill in for me real quick?" I asked them. "I, uh, got to use the bathroom."

"Uh, sure Ava." Jam answered, he and his younger brother walking over.

"Thanks!" I replied, removing the strap and handing the eldest cousin the guitar like controller. "I'll be quick."

"No rush, but I'm totally going to steal your high score." He boasted with a grin, turning the game back on.

"Dream on!" I yelled back as I exited the arcade.

Once I was out of there sight, I booked it down the hall, running like my life was depending on it. Who knows, maybe it was!

I found the bathroom and slipped inside, locking one of the stalls before bringing out the Kimunicator again. I pressed the red button, the blue flash of light surrounding me as I felt the tugging sensation in my body once again. Within the blink of an eye, I found myself standing inside the teleportation machine at Star Command.

"Finally, you're here." Sebastian spoke up, moving away from the console.

"What's going on?" I asked the boy as I stepped down from the platform.

"I'll explain on the way, we need to hurry." He answered with a wave, beginning to take off.

I ran after him, following the boy as we ran through the halls of the space headquarters and into the Docking Bays. We climbed into the nearest shuttle and descended back down to the World of Disney. For the entire ride down there, Sebastian was silent, impatiently tapping his foot on the floor.

I wanted to reach out to him, but I could sense that if I said or did something at the wrong time, he might explode or something.

Once we arrived in Tomorrowland, Sebastian took off running again as I tried to follow closely behind him.

"Sebastian, where are we--?"

Before I could continue my line, I looked up to see the Soarin' Terminal Station Building. It looked what kind of mission the two of us would be taking, it was taking place somewhere other than the Magic Kingdom.

"Come on! We've got to get to New Orleans in Epcot!" Sebastian stated, waving over at me once more.

"New Orleans?!" I spoke up with surprise.

I followed the boy inside the Station, the two of us breezing through security before we entered the Terminal and got perched up in a Glider.

"Sebastian, why are we going to New Orleans? What's going on? Where's Ben?" I finally asked him.

That's when I saw it. The look on Sebastian's face. It was a look of fear, mixed with sadness, anger, and every bad emotion in between.

"Ben went off to patrol the Dark Anomalies on his own." He spoke with grief.

"What? But he said we'd all go together!" I recalled.

"I know that, but he didn't want to put us in danger, despite my pleas to make him take me with him." he explained. "He was on patrol with Hercules in Greece when it happened. The portal to the Underworld is destroyed, and Ben is stuck down there."

"No..." I gasped quietly. "Is he...?"

"Dead?" Sebastian perked up, looking up at me for the the first time since I got here. "That's what we're going to find out."

"Mickey mentioned that these things, the Dark Anomalies, I mean; They can kill us?" I asked for clarification.

Sebastian sighed as the roof began to open slowly, the Glider tilting back as it prepared for launch. "Look Ava, I don't want to scare you, but... these things... they will kill you, if you give them that chance. One of the most important things in combat? Do NOT give them that chance."

"I won't." Ava shook her head firmly. "I won't let them."

"I know you won't." Sebastian formed a small smile, before looking up into the sky. "We've lost Wizards fighting the Dark Anomalies before. Ben is still alive. He's got to be..."

"Launching in 3, 2, 1..."

******

Within minutes, Sebastian and I touched down in New Orleans, U.S.A. in Epcot.

Sebastian had filled me in on what the game was during the flight over.

True, the true portal to the Underworld in Greece is destroyed, but according to Sebastian, there is one other way to get to the down under.

The two of us were walking down the downtown streets of New Orleans. Music was playing, the streets were busier than ever, and the sweet aroma of food filled the air.

Even though I already had breakfast, I could really go for some of this stuff I was smelling.

"Over here." Sebastian placed a hand on my shoulder.

I followed him into a narrow alley way, coming up in a tiny park area with apartment complexes surrounding the area.

"Wait... this place... is..."

"Familiar?" Sebastian interrupted. "Yeah, this is where we meet him."

"Him?" I spoke up with confusion. "You mean, Ben?"

"No... the person who can take us to him." He clarified.

Before I could speak up again, there was a cough followed by a quiet chuckle from someone standing in the shadows. The figure stepped out of hiding to reveal a tall, tanned man. He wore a black top hat with a red feather in it and a skull painted on the front, a sabortooth like necklace, a dark red jacket with a purple vest underneath, long black pants and dress shoes. He also carried a black and purple staff in his hand.

After a quick scan of him, I gasped loudly, realizing who exactly it was.

My eyes narrowed as I took immediate action, standing protectively in front of Sebastian as I locked my fists together.

"Seb, get back! It's--"

"I know, he's my contact!" Sebastian spoke up, lowering my fist closest to him.

"What?!" I perked up.

"Dr. Facilier, at your service." He greeted, bowing slightly.

"Does anyone else know?" Sebastian asked him, walking by me.

"Not even a mouse." he teased.

"Sebastian? Why is he your, contact?" I asked slowly.

"We need another way into the Underworld. All other options are lost, except for one." Sebastian answered, glancing over at the villain.

"All other villains are locked up or dead. Why not him?" I pointed at the man cautiously.

"I'm actually on house arrest." The man clarified. "All use of my magic just now only be caused in my parlor."

"Meaning?" I raised a brow.

"Meaning that's where all of his magic is contained. He can't use his magic anywhere else, thus, protecting the civilians from his voodoo." Sebastian elaborated.

"Preciously. Aren't you smart." Facilier complimented.

"So, if you can only use your powers inside your parlor, how are me and Ben supposed to get to the Underworld?" I asked.

"Since my House Arrest and the growing threat of the Dark Anomalies, my powers have begun to weaken. There's no doubt that they're coming from somewhere in the land below. It wouldn't even surprise me if Hades was behind all of this. It's his domain after all." Facilier began.

"That much we already know." Sebastian reminded. "Keep going."

"Anyways, I do have enough power to call up my friends from the other side, to open a gateway to take you two to the Underworld." He continued.

"You're using up your remaining energy on the two of us." I realized. "Why?"

"In the case of the Dark Anomalies, Wizards and Villains share a common foe." Facilier replied.

"Try telling that to Jafar..." I muttered, crossing my arms.

"So, are we ready to proceed Doctor?" Sebastian asked him.

"Yes, indeed we are." Faciliar nodded, twirling his staff. "Follow me inside."

As Faciliar turned around, walking towards one of the apartments, I glanced over at Sebastian nervously. If he trusted him, I guess I should, right? But why did I have this gut feeling in my stomach that something could go wrong?

Sebastian looked back over at me, placing a comforting hand on my shoulder. "Trust me. Trust him."

I slowly nodded at the boy as the two of us followed Facilier into a apartment building. His old parlor from the movie was destroyed after his "death" if you will. The local police confiscated most of this things, but some of his voodoo stuff still survived.

When the two of us entered the apartment, it looked almost identical to his parlor.

"Oh, and uh, thank you you again for sending your friend to keep me company. It does get quiet boring around here with no one to talk to." The man spoke up.

"Who?" I raised a brow in confusion.

There was a faint cough as Sebastian and I turned around to see a female figure leaning against the wall, right next to the front door. She had light, orange, flaming hair with green eyes and freckles on her cheeks. She wore a pink tank top with a green mini skirt, black leggings underneath, and matching pink knee top converse shoes.

"About time you go here." She commented, standing up from the wall.

"Thanks for doing this, Kaitlyn." Sebastian thanked after pausing momentarily.

My eyes widened as my ears perked up suddenly upon hearing that name. "That's Kaitlyn?"

"So, he's told you about me?" The green eyes girl spoke up, walking towards the pair.

"It's not like that Kaitlyn."Sebastian assured the girl.

There was just something about the look on her face, the way she spoke, it worried me. Sebastian and Ben never did finish their story about Kaitlyn yesterday.

I slowly rose my hands in defense. "Good things though!"

She raised a brow at me, looking at me like I was weird. She however shrugged it off as Sebastian pulled some cash out of his pocket, handing it to the flame headed girl.

"Here you are, as promised." He spoke. "Thanks again."

"Anything to help get Ben back." Kaitlyn nodded, swiping the money out of his hand before pointing a finger at the boy. "But that is the last time I do anymore favors from you. Are we clear?"

Sebastian looked at her with such sympathy, like he wanted to beg or plead out to her in someway, but I didn't know what. I knew that Kaitlyn was kicked out of the Disney Wizards ranks, but is still helping them around. However that did happen, she must be taking it hard.

Finally the boy sighed, and he reluctantly nodded in reply. "We're clear."

Kaitlyn nodded at the boy, her voice steady. "Good." She began to walk away, proceeding by me as she stopped, taking a quick glance in my direction. "Chosen One." She waved before walking out of the apartment.

"Well that was... something." I commented.

"Ah, young love has its moments, now doesn't it?" Faciliar spoke up, leaning back in his long chair.

"It was nothing like that Doctor." Sebastian replied sternly. "Now, can we, just please get on with it?"

"Of course, of course." Facilier sat up from his chair, picking his staff up as he walked over to the two of us. "Now in order for this to work, it will take a heavy commitment from both sides to see this through."

"Whatever it takes Facilier, whatever it takes." Sebastian nodded.

The voodoo doctor grinned as he crossed his arms before extending his hands toward us. "Then shake my hand."

My gut feeling was coming back again as I took a nervous glance over at Sebastian, who looked so serious and determined.

"Come on kids, won't you shake the poor sinners hand?" Doctor Facilier asked.

Sebastian was the first to take the voodoo doctor's hand, grasping it firmly with a shake. I looked at the doctor's empty had nervously, my hand shaking like a leaf. I closed my eyes, taking a quick breath as I sucked in my gut.

If Sebastian was willing to go through such lengths to rescue Ben, then who says I can't do the same? Ben is my friend, and I'm going to help bring him back.

I extending my hand forward, and placed my hand in Faciliar's as he shook both of his in reply.

"Yes." He chimed with a smirk before he pulled the two of us forward, tossing us into the middle of the room.

He brought out a small sack and chucked it at the floor, just below out feed, a explosion of green and white smoke came out, startling the two of us as the room suddenly grew dark. The sounds of humming and deep voices caught our attention as me and Sebastian looked up to see those strange voodoo tiki masks appear on the walls, muttering a chant.

"Uh, Sebastian..." I strained with fear.

"Are you ready?
Are you ready?
Are you ready?"

The white smirked circled me and Sebastian, then lifted the two of us high in the air as a giant mask appeared on the floor, opening its mouth wide to reveal a portal.

"Transportation central!
Transportation central!"

Faciliar continued to chant and sing as he used his staff to levitate the table and chairs, making them spin and spin until they all merged together and transformed into a thrill ride cart. I hovered up below us and the white smoke pushed the two of us down, placing us inside the cart.

"It's changing,
It's changing,
It's changing alright!
I hope you're satisfied!"

Finally Faciliar used his magic to create a track for the cart, paving it to make it dive right into the portal. Where the track went at the other end, I did not know.

I was a little scared to find out.

Faciliar levitated up toward us, appearing behind the cart, placing a hand on both of our shoulders.

"But if you wait,
Don't blame me!"

The remaining green magic covered the cart, making it roar to life. Sebastian looked over at me, extending his hand towards me. I took his hand in a heart beat. Don't get me wrong, this was cool and all, but it was also down right terrifying!

"I could really use your comfort right now Santi'..." I thought.

"You can blame my friends on the other side!"

With a heavy heave, Faciliar pushed the cart with all of its might, making it roll forward straight down the track and right through the portal!

"You got what you wanted!
What you got is what you get!"

The cart followed the path of the track. There were sharp turns, zig-zags, and loop-de-loops, but the yelps I did was nothing compared to my last scream at the end.

There was a dead end. A fence was placed at the end of the track, and the cart was going way too fast to slow down in time to stop!

"Brace yourself!" Sebastian yelled, squeezing my hand.

The cart made impact as I could hear Doctor Faciliar's cackling as the portal slowly began to close, being the only source of light in the Underworld for the moment.

Sebastian and I screamed as we flew out of the cart and began free falling towards the bottom.

And then, everything went black.

******

Wattpad better show the ending I swear -_-

So if this chapter is published and the bit after that one line isn't there.... I swear, I'm going to scream!
