Chapter 9 - Wonderland/Underland
He smiled as he landed in the room and found the drink me bottle almost immediately. He had been here before enough times that he knew the drill. This was actually his favorite part. As he shrunk he remembered to knock the key off the table and save some time. The knob smirked at him as he walked over with the key.
"Welcome back Sir, It's been a while now hasn't it?" The knob snided.
"Yeah, yeah. I know, I know. I've been a little busy though. Mother hasn't been home in quite some time. Have you seen her by chance?"
"I can't say that I have. Anywho, be on your way. There's much to do and little time. A lot has changed since you left."
"You always say that." Alfie laughs as he passes through the door and walks through the singing flowers and gorgeous scenery to find the blue caterpillar. He's always the first visit to be made, whether the March hare likes it or not.
"Who are you?" Absolem booms as Alfie nears.
"Very cute. You know who I am and I know who I am, so is there really even a point in asking, Absolem." Alfie smarts staring down the caterpillar as he takes another puff.
"Oh?" He asks with pompous. Blowing a ring around Alfie's face that forms a question mark crook dotting itself before it's disappearance.
"Yes, I am Alfie Kingsleigh, son of The Alice. I am the new protector of this region since my mother has taken to the seas for even longer stretches of time."
"I don't know." Absolem says as he takes a second puff holding it while thinking through what the boy has said.
"You know mother was right this caterpillar does have a way with stirring one's temper, but I won't let him win today." Alfie thought as the caterpillar took a few short drags forming shapes of all different sizes. First a circle, then a triangle, next a square, and finally a cat. He always did enjoy referencing to Cheshire even if they truly were not friends. Or so they both claimed.
"Well, if you have nothing left to say, then I shall be on my way." Alfie declared turning his back to the caterpillar and walking towards the woods.
"Wait, just a moment there. Come back, I've finally thought of what I had meant to say." Absolem shouts, but Alfie shrugs and continues on knowing the comment would probably have something to do with tempers or his family resemblance. He was his mother's son and he most definitely knew it without anyone having to tell him.
"Hmmm... which way shall I go next? I could go down to the hatter's and enjoy a lovely tea party. Or I could go visit the white queen. I don't much care for the red queen, so I shall attempt to avoid her presence today."
Alfie thinks aloud without the hindrance of a thought that he may not be alone.
"Well, which shall it be boy? Are you just going to stand at this fork all day?" A voice called from a tree over head.
"Go on, Cheshire. Tell me which way I should go or rather which would be the least advised to follow if one were to follow the words of a cat."
"How did you know it was me?" He smiles deviously while appearing with nothing but his tail holding him to the tree.
"I'd know that voice anywhere."
"Hmm... perhaps it's time for a change then?" He asks turning his appearance to that of the Hatter.
"No, that's cheating my friend."
"Alright, well it's been a while old pal."
"Only a few short months up top."
"You know that accounts for years down here."
"What did I miss?" Alfie asks leaning back on his heels.
"Everything." Cheshire purrs before unraveling his appearance again.
"He's always just so helpful." Alfie mumbles. Choosing to travel to the right, heading to go see Tarrant, the March Hare, the Dormouse and any others who may be present at the tea party.
