All because some parent complained about it. I picked this for a movie night with Rachel and Ashley because I love this movie and it was banned in Florida. The real Ruby as well as the screenwriter of this movie talked. People in Florida don't think this is appropriate for second graders but that is stupid. Ruby was 6 when this happened, that would be Kindergarten or 1st grade depends on the school district and the month the child was born so it would be appropriate for any age group starting at 6 years old. This is a great movie, and the white people aren't really bad. They showed humanity for black people, and this really did happen in our history. The beginning of the civil rights movement. Ruby Bridges is 68 years old today. 

Ruby Bridges is about a 6-year-old girl going to an all-white school. The parents pulled their children out when they found out that the black girl is going to attend and yelled threats at that little girl. Only one white teacher Mrs. Henry was willing to teach her. This caused a lot of trauma and therefore her parents had a psychologist to come in and talk to Ruby. He was a nice white man. The kids eventually started going into the school because they just wanted to learn. Ruby Bridges was brave, and this movie is important and should be watched to show what Racism is. I was mad when a movie like this was banned in Florida. I don't believe any book or movie should be banned and that makes me angry.
