In 1984, when Tim Burton's short Frankenweenie aired, Disney fired Burton under the pretext of him spending the company's resources on doing a film that would be too dark and scary for children to see. 

But all is well since Burton makes movies for Disney AND Frankenweenie got a remake in 2012.
