Today was the day. Today you were going to tell your best friend, Maya how you felt about her. You'd had a crush on her for ages and now you were finally going to pluck up the courage to tell her. You wouldn't be doing it if it weren't for Riley. She was the only one who knew about your feelings for Maya and she'd finally been able to convince you to act upon them.

You had it all planned out. You were all going to Topanga's after school, like usual, but after your friends had left you were going to ask Maya to stay behind for a minute and that was when you were going to do it.

Naturally, you were nervous and jittery all the way through school and the day felt like it couldn't have gone slower.

"Are you okay, Maranda? You've been acting weird all day." Maya asked you on your way to last period.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Don't worry." You smiled her, hoping she would leave it at that. Luckily she did as you arrived at Mr Matthews' classroom.

Eventually, after staring at the clock and literally counting down the seconds, the bell rang and school was over.

"You nervous?" Riley whispered to you as you walked to your lockers.

"Is it obvious?"

"No... Not at all." You knew she was lying and sighed.

Soon enough, you, Riley, Maya, Farkle, Lucas and Zay were all at Topanga's. You all just sat around chatting for about an hour, before you started to get impatient. You were getting more and more terrified about talking to Maya and you wanted to get it over and done with before you could chicken out.

You decided to send Riley a sneaky text, telling her how you felt. Maybe she'd be able to get everyone to leave. When Riley got your text she looked at you and you were giving her pleading eyes.

"Hey, guys, why don't we go back to mine?" Riley suggested and you smiled gratefully at her. Everyone agreed and started to leave, but as Maya stood up you gently grabbed her hand.

"Wait, Maya, c-can I talk to you?" You stuttered. Riley gave you an encouraging grin before she left with the others.

"What's up?" She looked slightly concerned as she sat back down next to you.

"It's nothing bad, don't worry. Well, I mean, it might be a bad thing, depending on your reaction but-"

"Maranda," Maya cut you off with a giggle, "Slow down, stop rambling. Just tell me what it is."

"Okay, well, I have no idea how to say this, I've been trying to plan what I'm going to say all day but everything I think of sounds stupid..." You paused when you realised you were rambling again and took a deep breath, "What I'm trying to say is... I-I like you, Maya. As in I really like you, I have done for ages and I understand if you don't feel the same way, but I just needed to get it off my chest."

When Maya stayed silent, you started to assume the worst, "You're not saying anything, why aren't you saying anything? God, I knew I shouldn't have said anything, you probably hate me now. I'm so sorry, I've completely ruined our friendsh-"

Maya cut you off again, but not in the way you expected. She shut you up by cupping your face and pressing her lips to yours. You were too shocked to do anything at first, but then you got over the surprise and kissed her back.

"Okay, so, maybe you don't hate me." You giggled after you both pulled away.

"Of course I don't hate you, you idiot. The exact opposite, actually. I like you too."

"You do?"

"Do you think I would've just kissed you if I didn't?"

"That's a good point." You laughed, "So... Do you maybe want to..."

"Be your girlfriend?" She finished for you.

"Yeah, that."

"Well, I'll have to think about it." She said and your face fell, only for her to giggle, "I'm kidding, of course I will." She then pulled you in for another kiss.
