You walked through campus, your head spinning and tears blurring your vision. You'd just found out your boyfriend - sorry, ex boyfriend, had been cheating on you for six of the seven months you'd been together. You'd just gone to his dorm to see him, only to find a girl who you thought was your friend and that's when the ugly truth was revealed. You then legged it out of there as fast as you could and now here you were, sobbing uncontrollably and wandering aimlessly around campus. You decide to go to the one person who you knew would be able to make you feel better, or at least make you smile. You made your way to his dorm and knocked, praying he would be the only one in. Seconds later, Josh answered the door and his cheery smile fell as soon as he saw your tear stained face.

"Alex, what happened?"

"Y/BF/N (your boyfriend's name)... He... He's been ch-cheating on me." As soon as the words left your mouth, you dissolved into another puddle of tears. After getting over the shock, Josh pulled you into his arms. The two of you stayed liked that, him holding you close and you clutching onto him while the tears ran free. At some point, he took you into his room (which luckily was empty) and sat you down on his bed, where he put his arm around you and let you cry on his shoulder.

"Why was I not good enough for him?" You couldn't help but cry.

"Hey," Josh pulled away and looked you in the eye, "Don't you dare say that. If anything, he wasn't good enough for you and he's not worth your tears. You're a beautiful, smart, kind, amazing girl, Alex and if he can't see that then, well, he's even dumber than I thought."

You blushed at what he said and let your lips curl up into a small smile.

"There's that smile," Josh grinned, "Why don't I take you out for lunch tomorrow? Take your mind off things?"

"Like a date?"

Josh's eyes and he started stuttering, "N-no! I mean, if you're not ready then I totally get that but-"

"Josh," You interrupted with a giggle, "It wouldn't be a bad thing if it was a date."

"Really?" You shook your head, "Oh, well, then yeah... Like a date."

"I'd love to."

~Next Day~

You put on one last spritz of perfume as someone knocked on your door.

'Right on time' you thought, glancing at the clock. Your heartbeat sped up as you went to open the door. This was it. You were finally going on a date with Josh. You'd actually had a crush on him for ages. In fact, you might even go as far as to say you were in love with him, but you've never said anything. You friendship was too precious and you didn't want to risk it. And now all that could be about to change.

You reached the door and opened it to reveal Josh, looking incredibly cute as always.

"Hey, you look beautiful." He said. You blushed, looking down at your dress as you smiled.

"Thank you, you don't look too bad yourself." You giggled. The two of you left and Josh took you to a restaurant on campus.

Lunch was great and after you'd eaten you decided to go for a little walk. You talked about everything and nothing and at some point, Josh managed to sneakily slip his hand into yours which made you blush and feel tingles at his touch. You soon both got tired of walking and ended up lying down under a tree, cloud-watching.

"Is it lame that I love finding shapes in the clouds?" You asked out of the blue.

"No, not at all. I think it's kinda cute, actually." Good thing he was looking at the sky and not at you so he didn't see you blushing.

"Hey, look, that one looks like a dog." He pointed to one of the clouds.

"Oh, yeah, I guess."

You both ended up lying there and pointing out cloud shapes to one another, until you pointed to one and said, "That one kinda looks like a kangaroo punching an alien."

Josh sat up and gave you a funny look as he chuckled. You sat up and started giggling too as you realised how ridiculous you sounded.

"You're so weird." He laughed, "But I guess that's why I love you."

You stopped laughing and looked at him, trying not to smile, "Y-you love me?"

Josh turned bright red and his eyes went wide, "Uh, n-no, that's not what I meant. I-I, um, I meant-"

"I love you too." You blurted, cutting his ramble short. Now it was his turn to stare at you.

"You do?"

You nodded, "I've never had the guts to tell you. I didn't want to ruin our friendship."

"That's exactly how I've felt, ever since I first met you." Josh locked eyes with you, "I love you, Alex." Hearing him say that made you melt and you knew you'd never forget this moment.

Sadly, the date was soon over and Josh walked you back to your dorm.

"I had fun today." He said as you both stopped outside your door.

"Me too." You smiled. Josh stared at you for a few seconds, his eyes occasionally flickering down to your lips, before he gently grabbed your chin and pressed his lips to yours. You felt butterflies and fireworks and everything else as you kissed back. It felt magical.

"Goodbye, Alex." He smirked as you both pulled away. Josh then walked off, leaving you stood there, smiling like an idiot.
