"Liz, come on, or else we'll miss the bus!" You heard your brother, Naldo yell. You took a deep breath, grabbed your backpack and left your room, meeting him by the front door. You both said goodbye to your parents and left. Today was your first day at Portland High and to say you were nervous was an extreme understatement.

"You okay? You seem on edge." Naldo asked on your way to the bus stop.

"Yeah, just first day jitters." You sighed.

"Don't worry, I'll be by your side, and so will Barry, Cyd and Shelby." Your brother assured you. You gave him a smile, pushing up your purple rimmed glasses as they slipped down your nose slightly. You soon both got on the bus and before you knew it, you'd arrived at school. You and Naldo got off the bus and you trailed behind him as you walked towards the entrance, wanting to delay the day as much as possible. Naldo realised you were dawdling and stopped, letting you catch up.

"Liz, will you stop? You'll be fine, I'm telling you." He grabbed your hand and dragged you inside, where you met your friends.

"Hey, Liz." Shelby was the first to notice you and grinned.

"Hi." You managed to smile.

"She's a little nervous about her first day." Naldo said.

"I don't blame her, high school is a shark tank full of vicious, judgemental-"

"Not helping, Barry." Cyd cut him off, "Don't listen to him, Liz."

"Yeah, you've got nothing to worry about." Shelby reassured you.

The bell soon rang and you all had to get to class, which you were dreading as none of your friends were in your classes. However, as the day went on, your nerves became smaller and smaller. Going to a new school was nowhere near as bad as you'd imagined and you even made some new friends.

"Hey, Liz, how's your first day going?" Naldo asked you at lunch, and you smiled.

"Actually, not as bad as I thought it would." You replied truthfully.
