wattpad was set up to be an outlet for writers all over the world to showcase their works and maybe

just maybe

get a little recognition for a job well done

BUTTTTTTTTT

unfortunately with talent comes one other little attribute

the ability to bring out the worst in others

there's that green monster again

i remember back when i was still new to wattpad

i decided, in my infinite wisdom, to try to create a new poetry style

i did and the Tempoem was born

it was a simple 7 line poem with each line rhyming ....

anyway

not important

my point being that in naming my style, i used my own name as part of the name

Tem (Temple) Poem (Poem) ... Tempoem

i immediately got backlash from people

one guy

whose name i forget

actually went as far as to post an item on his site condemning me for naming the style after me

basically saying that i was an egotistic sonofabitch for naming my poetry style after me

fuck

finally i confronted the guy and explained to him that it was not an ego thing

i simply thought the play on words was cool

Tempoem (Templepoem)

you get the idea

and i may have said something to the effect that i didn't give a fuck what he thought and that he was just jealous because he didn't think of it first

okay, i was a little childish

maybe

but it was my style

and it wasn't like it was going to revolutionize the way Poets wrote

my point being this

don't be jealous of other writers

there will always be the who are going to be better or more popular than you are

that is a fact of life

just accept that fact and roll with it

it will make your life on here a whole lot easier

and for you out there who become the green monster 

just let it go

a true sign of maturity is the ability to accept and applaud other's success

not criticize them

(that is my job)

don't let that green monster ruin your experience here on wattpad

there will always be those who are better

more popular

more proficient

let them be

just be you
