i used to be an avid reader

when i was in my early teens, i got into Tom Swift books and the Hardy Boys and the such

I couldn't get enough

i would read like a madman

then one day

it all came to an end

i picked up a pen and wrote a short story

thus ended my reading career

now i know many writers read profusely

but me

just can't do it

and here is the problem

i get a few pages into the book

and i get an idea

so 

i have to write it down

i go back to the book

couple more pages

another idea

have to write it down

back to book

another idea

write it down

back to book

read what i read before

because I've forgotten it

get another idea

write it down

fuck it

never wanted to read the book anyway

I have been over 15 years trying to read

Riverworld by Philip Jose farmer

(great series ... read it many years ago)
