what is inspiration

to me it is simply a person, thing or event

that pushes you to pick up a pen and write

to me

people are the biggest inspiration

my first writing inspiration was

Bob Dylan

his lyrics opened a whole new world to me

the world of poetry

when i first started writing here on wattpad

i believe that i very quickly became an inspiration

to a group of young and seasoned writers

i inspired some to write

some to continue to write

and in a couple cases

i actually stopped people from leaving wattpad

and

believe it or not

these people became celebrated poets in their own right

i will not mention names

(i know

now you don't believe me)

doesn't matter

anyway

being an inspiration 

is a good feeling

it pushed me to create the Poets Pub

and that site alone has inspired and developed quite a few amazing poets

and it still continues to

so why am i writing this

i guess because i feel i am like

old technology

while the new generations are downloading and streaming songs

i am still pulling out vinyl records 

and playing them

and that drops me out of the loop

i don't feel i am a good enough writer anymore

to inspire

and i am not looking for pity or any such shit

it is simply a fact

i still churn out hundreds of poems

but let's face it

even by my own standards

(which can be pretty low, where i am concerned)

they are shit

they would inspire no one

even at my beloved Poets Pub

i have become the old bartender

the one everyone says hello to

but moves on to the younger servers for their drink order

my era of inspiration is over

AGAIN

NO PITY

AND YOU KNOW WHY

because those

that now inspire

are those

that i inspired

and that

in itself

is a wonderful feeling
