Chapter 2 - On Time!
Being good was much harder than I thought.
For one, it meant that I couldn't be late - and I always was late. Everywhere. It was one of the things which Isaac, my best friend, found most annoying about me.
He wasn't the only one, because Elijah looked very frustrated by my lateness. My mom had to go to work early today, so she had me promise I would drop Elijah off to school. Something which would undoubtedly make me late to school.
If I had ridden on my motorcycle, maybe then I could've made it to school on time, legally. So, instead I broke as many laws as possible to get to school on time.
I ran six red lights and was going 100 miles per hour, on a 60 road. By a school. I know, I know... I was not a good role model for Elijah, but who gave a fu -
I stomped on the brake, as I finally arrived at the middle school. Elijah just opened the door, and didn't ever bother thanking me. Ungrateful bastard. He may be eleven years old, but he was already a twat - and a bunch of other words one should not call their little brother in fear of getting skinned alive by their mother.
The second I saw Elijah enter the car, I pulled out of the parking lot and returned to my speeding, driving to school as fast as I possibly could.
I wasn't late. In fact, I made it with five minutes to spare. It didn't even matter that I got a speeding ticket from two different cops, because I had done the impossible. I was early, even if it was only by five minutes.
This moment should be recorded in history, for this was the first of many times I would be making it to school on time.
Even though I was excited, and hella proud of myself for not being late for once in my life, I didn't show my excitement on my face. Instead, I confidently strode into the hallway, walking with my usual swagger.
Everyone stared at me as I entered, as they usually did before returning to their conversations. I didn't miss the look of surprise on their face. Shock, because I, Cameron Black, had not been late for the first time in Ashen Cove history.
My eyes swept through the hallway, searching for Isaac's icy blue eyes. He had probably come to school early. For a boy who could hand anyone's butt to them in a fight, he was strangely well-behaved. I supposed it had to do with his dad being a police officer.
Then, I found those icy blue eyes. The ones which I recognized all too well, except the owner of them was not my best friend as I had hoped. Nope.
It was a girl.
A very pretty one at that.
She was tall, with long legs. She had a tan, a tan which most girls have to work hours for. Her face was completely clear of make-up - definitely not a common occurrence in my school, but I couldn't help liking how it looked on her. She didn't need make-up.
Her black hair was knotted into a ponytail, the few stray strands which had escaped, tucked behind her ears. I couldn't help but wonder how her hair would feel between my fingers.
Get yourself together, Cam.
I kicked myself. I had promised. Promised no girls, and this girl couldn't be an exception. And she wasn't really my type anyway. Liar.
I couldn't help myself from smirking, when I noticed her eyes sweeping over my body. Was she checking me out? If I had been proud of my appearance before, it was nothing compared to now.
So, I momentarily forgot my promise and did what I usually would. I winked at her, my usual panty-dropping smirk on my face. I saw her eyebrows pull together, as she - glared at me?
And then she did something I had never had a girl do to me before. She flipped me off, and then she turned away - as if the interaction had never happened.
I frowned, I couldn't help feeling offended. What had I even done to her? Had I broken the hearts of one of her friends or something? She shouldn't blame me for that. All the girls who came after me knew of my reputation. Did they think I'd change for them?
I shook my head, walking towards my locker. This girl didn't matter. Only my promise did. No girls. Not now. Not until after I earned that scholarship.
Just as I reached my locker - the bell rang.
Damnit.
A/N:
Okay, I published the story even though I said I wouldn't. Can I ask something, do the colors of the banner clash? Because I feel like it is. I might change if it does.
And anyway, for my pick-up line - I did say outrageous - so I got some outrageous ones. I think I'll say two because I found so many. Tell me which one makes you swoon more.
Roses are red. Violets are blue. You be the six. I'll be the nine.
Got to love them dirty pick-up lines, and since this is through Cameron's perspective - it's go to be very dirty. I love Cameron though - he's great. Ooh, and the next one's my personal favorite so far.
What did you say your name was? I want to make sure I'm screaming the right name tonight.
Love this one.
