Ch. 2
Nightmare noticed something about this void.
It had round walls, surrounding him like a sphere. But he couldn't turn around.
Meaning it actually wasn't a void, but instead his tentacles. He wasn't really surprised, since it was normal for his tentacles to do this when he is either passed out or asleep. But, his gang should've been there with him....
Maybe they were sent elsewhere. If that's the case, he had to find them immediately.
He slowly broke his tentacles free from eachother, them having been fused a bit from touching so long. He then made the shorter so he wouldn't have to deal with them trailing behind him.
He froze when a grunt sounded from behind him.
He could tell he was in a forest. The trees were tall above his head. Pine trees, if he remembered correctly. The forest had a... Negative aura to it. Big time.
He felt something sniff him and he stayed still. He could just kill what ever was there, but.... For some reason he chose a calmer approach.
He slightly turned his head, glancing behind him unnoticeably.
The creature behind him was not human. Nor was it a monster. It was something... Else entirely.
It was humanoid for sure. Skin tight against its bones, no muscles it appears. It's face angular , chin pointed. It's mouth was slack, sharp teeth visible. Its nose looked like a dark hole and it's eyes were dark, similar to small voids.
If Nightmare didn't know any better, he would've guessed that this creature was related to Core! frisk.
It didn't do much, just stare at him and sniff him like it was unsure what to do.
Nightmare also didn't do anything, curious about the creature. Where did it come from? He never had seen anything like it in any of the aus he's been to...
It seemed the creature was curious of him as well. The emotions it was feeling confirmed it. Confusion, lost, worry. That's what he could tell from the creatures emotions.
He understood the first two. But the third.... He could tell it wasn't worried about him hurting it. It was worried that someone would find out about Nightmare.
Which confused Nightmare even more.
Nightmare decided to turn his body slowly to look at the creature fully. Alarm could be felt, as if it didn't expect him to turn around.
So there Nightmare was, staring at the creature with his hand on the ground behind him to keep him still.
It seemed to study his face, as if it was burning it into it's memory. Nightmare waited patiently, might as well. He had time.
From what Nightmare could tell, it was sentient. It had thoughts, just like others. But, seeing as he isn't a mindreader, he couldn't hear them.
It caused sounds of grunts and clicks, as if speaking. Nightmare paid attention to how they sounded, and what the creature felt.
He decided to speak to it," You're curious about me."
It froze for a moment, processing the question. It then made a clicking sound, it having emotions that confirmed that that was truth.
Nightmare chuckled, a small smile forming as he spoke, " You are not the first to be curious about me. But, I must say I am also curious about you. I have never seen you before and I would like to know you."
Joy. That's what he felt from it. Joy of someone not running away. Nightmare could tell. Most would run away from the creature in fear... It must have gotten to it, making it depressed most likely.
It's clicks got higher in pitch, as if it was trying to speak with him excitedly. He turned his lower body towards it, crossing his legs in an Indian style. He set his hands on his lap, focusing on its emotions.
Focusing on one's emotions is how he can learn things when one can't tell him directly. It's like reading someone. He learned this trick when he was still in his au... It was how he figured out what the villagers were planning... Of course, his sibling never believed him.
Now look where they are.
It was happy. Happy he wanted to get to know it.
At this moment, his noticed some things. It spoke English, although it only knew one word. Rake. He could tell that that was its name.
An interesting name for sure. But not a bad one all the same.
It was a while, but he ended up knowing a lot more than he would have thought possible just by its emotions.
It had lived in this forest for a few years now. Used to live elsewhere but it ran away due to scaring others and hurting humans on accident due to being scared.
It was part of a group of some kind. One filled with beings who weren't afraid of it.
The group was fighting someone. That someone was really bad apparently. And... Rake didn't want that person to find Nightmare.
Which was reasonable , he supposed. It didn't want to lose the only outsider of the group who would not be afraid of it.
Nightmare smiled at the creature again," Rake, it's a pleasure to meet you. My name is Nightmare. I would like you to not be worried about the person you fear finding out about me. I've faced things that have led me to being powerful. I appreciate your concern."
It hesitated before slowly accepting the response.
Nightmare then looked up, the sky darkening. He would have to find shelter soon.
He looked back at Rake, standing up easily. It tilted its head, grunts coming from it. He hummed," It's getting late. I must be off to find a place to rest and find a few of my friends.... We'll see eachother again soon, I promise."
It nodded, rubbing its head against his side before he waved and teleported, hoping to find shelter...
(Sorry this one is shorter. I got stuck so I decided to just stop here. Anyways, hope you all enjoyed. Imma try to make the next chapter longer. Oh! Before I forget... The word count is 987. Bbbbyyyyeeee!!!!)
