Chapter 4 Happy
"Hey!" Spencer exclaimed as he opened his door and came face to face with Meghan. "Your early!"
She nodded and grinned. "Yep. I knew you would be waiting so I thought I'd beat you to it."
He smiled as they began to walk down the stairs. "Did you sleep well?"
She nodded. "Did you?"
"I did actually."
"Actually?" She frowned, peering up at him.
"Well I- I usually have really bad headaches, but I didn't last night." He stumbled over the last step and blushed as she laughed.
"Wow. That step always gets you huh?" She patted his arm and walked to her side of the car. "So how do you usually do this?-"
"Well you just pull the handle and it pops right open, though I don't really use that side of the car-"
"No!" She laughed. "You- I- you didn't let me finish. My entire statement was, how do you usually do this? Do you get coffee on the way or..."
He laughed along with her. "Oh! I just thought you meant the car. Now that I think about it that sounds pretty-" he trailed off watching her let her head fall back giggling.
"Your hilarious."
He blushed. "I've never heard that before so I'm going to have to say that I don't believe you."
She covered her pink stained lips with her hand and shook her head. " That right there makes it even better. Why do you look so tense all the time?"
"You've known me for almost two days! What do you mean all the time?" He laughed. "I don't know. I'm not good with uh-"
"Girls?" She smiled and raised her eyebrows.
"People actually." He blushed and tightened his grip on the steering wheel. "Are you usually this big of a social butterfly or are you seriously trying to make friends?"
She giggled again and shrugged. "No. I am. My mom tells me all the time that I ramble, but I don't think I do. I never ramble. Except for when I'm around you. I can't seem to shut up. Like now. I don't why I just said that." She covered her face with her hands, which Spencer was thankful for. That way she couldn't see his bright red face.
"Well. I ramble too. The only difference is when I talk people literally beg me to stop." He glanced down momentarily before looking back at the foggy road.
"It's because they probably don't understand you. Not in a bad way! Like, your just smarter than them. Personally, I would take it as a compliment."
He looked stunned. "Really?"
She smiled and nodded. "Mhm. If I were that smart, I'd want everyone to know."
His heart soared a those ten words and he couldn't help but full on grin at her. For the first time in a while, he didn't have a headache and he was genuinely happy.
