Chapter 34 Roman Numerals

"Morgan!" JJ shouted as she banged her fists against the metal slab separating her from her team mate. "Open the door!"

"Don't you think I would've by now if I could!" His muffled, yet still loud, voice called back.

JJ pressed her forehead against the cool surface and revealed in the feeling, jumping with a start as Reids voice rang out from beside her. "There's a key pad out here, Morgan. Do you see the numbers written anywhere? Uh- it would be four of them."

On the other side of the door, Morgan swallowed hard at Reid's question. Teresa walked over with the diagram in hand and A pair of pliers she'd found a few feet away from the first pedestal. "You have to pull my teeth. You and I both know those numbers are written on them somehow. It's the only way."

"Morgan?" They turned quickly as JJ called once again.

"Yeah, give me a second!" He shouted in response. "You know that kid out there that told us about the key pad is a genus. If we hold out long enough he'll think of some way to get-"

"Stop." She shook her head slowly and offered him the tool. "Please don't make me pull my own teeth."

He frowned down her and, with a shaky hand, accepted the pliers.

"One more time." Prentiss exclaimed as she raised the metal bar high above her head and crashed it down on the lock, sending it down to the floor with a thud.

"Brilliant!" Garcia exclaimed as she rose to her feet and dusted off her neon pink sweater. "Get me out of here."

Both girls hurried out of the small room and took deep breaths once they were in the hall. "Well this is better than the realm of claustrophobia." Garcia rolled her eyes.

"Come on. We need to find everyone else." Prentiss wrapped her arm around the technical analyst's shoulders. "How are you doing?"

"Peachy keen. Just a tad disappointed that my chocolate thunder didn't rescue me." She fake pouted.

Prentiss smiled lightly. "Your handling this much better than I anticipated."

"Yeah well,if it makes you feel any better im dying on the inside. Literally, it's like a club in my head. All my emotions are doing a conga line on my brain." Garcia rubbed her temples. "And having said that, this could just be my imagination, but what's that on the floor over there?"

Prentiss snapped her head in the direction Garcia was pointing and walked towards it carefully. "It's a piece of paper." She cautiously bent over and lifted it up.

"What's it say?" Garcia peered over Prentiss' shoulder.

"It's numbers. Four of them."

"Which four?"

Prentiss scoffed, turning to face Garcia. "I wish I could tell you. There in Roman numerals."
