Chapter 3 See ya' Genus
"You really didn't have to do this." Meghan started as she glanced out of the car window. "I mean I appreciate it and everything- nice car by the way."
Spencer laughed and stole a quick glance at the blonde. "So where's your house?"
"Apartment." She corrected, pulling a crumpled piece of paper out of her pocket and handing it to him. "I just moved here like a week ago and I keep forgetting where it is."
"Hey!" He exclaimed, smiling down at the paper momentarily. "We live in the same building!"
"Really?" She raised her eyebrows and smiled back. "I'm room twenty seven on the second floor. What about you?"
"Twenty-four."
She nodded once. "What a coincidence And here I thought I'd have trouble with the neighbors."
He chuckled and began to pull into the parking garage. "Here we are."
She smiled and hopped out after they were parked, walking around to his side and falling into step with him.
"So where did you live before?" He asked, peering at her while trying to play off that fact that he'd just tripped over one of the steps.
She bit back a laugh and twirled a piece of her hair around her black finger nail. "Well I grew up in Miami and moved to Texas about five years ago."
"Wow. I would assume it wasn't because your parents got a better job. Just because you would've been twenty and I didn't think- not that there's anything wrong-"
She placed her fingers over his mouth and made a 'shh' noise. "Actually it was for my sister. She had Leukemia and they recommended a doctor in Texas so I followed them there. She was thirteen."
"Oh. Is she-"
"No! She's doing much better now, but they still live there. I didn't have the heart to just leave her."
He nodded and pointed to one of the rooms as they reached the top of the second flight of stairs. "There's my room."
She giggled. "There's mine."
He awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck and smiled crookedly. "I guess I'll see you in the morning then?"
She nodded and waved, skipping toward her room. Spencer watched, amused as she stopped abruptly and spun around. "Can you give me a ride in the morning? The guys from triple A said they would bring my car back to BAU sometime tomorrow."
He nodded a little too quickly and blushed. "Sure. No problem. Uh- meet me here at about seven?"
She smiled. "I've known you, for like, a day and already I know that I should be here exactly at seven."
He blushed again and laughed. "See you then."
"See ya' genus."
