Chapter 1 Making it better

Meghan Roden approached the steps to the BAU with more butterflies in her stomach than she initial expected. She glanced up slowly at the large glass door and swallowed hard. "Hey!" She heard from behind her. Spinning around she broke out into a grin.

"Hey. I was just-"

"Don't say it. I completely understand." Emily Prentiss smiled and brushed a piece of her shoulder length black hair out of her eyes. "I was the last one to join the team and I stood outside these doors for at least twenty minutes before actually going in."

Meghan laughed and raised her eyebrows, nodding. "Yeah. I think I might have just beat you by like five minutes."

Prentiss smiled and motioned for the blonde to follow her. "You dressed perfectly by the way."

"Was that sarcasm because I spent two hours deciding on what to wear?" She asked, pushing the door open and following Prentiss down the hall towards the elevator.

Prentiss laughed and stepped in, pressing the numbers. "No. You really look good." She inspected the small girls dark jeans and flowing red shirt with the sweet heart neck line. "Perfect Garcia attire."

"That's what I thought too!" They both laughed and stepped out of the metal doors, immediately being greeted by Derek Morgan.

"Hey. There she is. Listen, I'm sorry about yesterday."

"For what? The insane hostility? Don't sweat it." He grinned at her remark and nodded, backing away.

"Noted."

Prentiss patted her arm. "I hate to run, but-"

"No, no! Go. I'll manage." She
waved momentarily and turned, crashing into someone and sending papers flying everywhere.

"Oh! Wow I'm so-" She stopped to smirk as she realized who it was. "So sorry that we can't meet normally."

Spencer Reid looked up quickly, his brown hair falling in his eyes as he blushed. "Oh! H-hi."

She giggled and squatted down, gathering papers along with him. "Sorry about this." She stood and leaned the same time as him and their heads crashed together.

They both said 'ow' and leaned away, laughing. "Sorry." He mumbled and accepted the papers slowly.

"It's fine. It's was half my fault. Well, this certainly isn't how I was expecting my first morning to go." She stopped talking as Hotch called her name from his office doorway.

"Coming." she called back before smiling at him. Spencer nodded and waved for her to go.

She turned back the same time as him and their voices mingled together. She motioned for him to go first and he quickly obliged. " I was going to say sorry for ruining your morning."

She laughed and placed her hands on her hips. "That's so ironic. I was just about to thank you for making it better."
