She's a witch?

Drew

"Lucas, I'm going with you, whether you like or not," I demanded. A few days ago, Lucas mentioned Carter's concern with Imogen's mother. I've been trying to talk him into talking to Robert about it but he's been persistent on not going. Until today but he thought he could leave without me.

"Robert will not like that you're going. You're not even part of the families," Lucas said.

"Fuck that, we can deal with him later," I said, tugging on the door, waiting for him to unlock it.

"Okay," Lucas answered, unlocking the car.

---------

I followed Lucas into the house, kindly greeting the maids around the house. The last time I was here, I was Imogen's date and the entire living room was decorated. I walked up the stairs, admiring the design of it. I followed pretty boy into the book decorated room. There are probably over 5000 books in here, I doubt they would notice if I took one.

"Hi, Robert," Lucas said as I was admiring all the books.

"Hey, you wanted to talk to me about Imogen right?"Robert questioned.

"Yeah,"

"What is he doing here," I looked up to see Robert pointing at me.

"He insisted on coming," Lucas explained.

"Anything involving Imogen concerns me," I answered.

"This is only for special families, I won't allow you to risk yourself," Robert said.

"I don't need your permission, I'm going to do whatever I can to help Imogen," I insisted. I don't need his approval, it's a free country and I'm willing to do anything to protect Imi. I can't just sit down and watch her fighting "the Taisla" on her own.

"We can't be liable for you getting hurt," Robert said. "But I can see you just want Imogen to be safe."

"I won't do anything," I said, doing a cross sign acrossed my chest.

"Should we get this meeting going," Robert said, sitting down at this wooden table.

"Carter, go ahead and tell him. What you told me," Lucas commented, pointing at Carter.

"Well, during our high school years, Anatasia forced me to go out with her to a party. Holden and Ana were drunk so I had to be the adult and drive them home. During the drive home, they were both acting like children, grabbing the steering wheel causing an accident to occur. Ana was dead on the scene but later woke up," Carter informed.

"That means her mother has used up both her lives," Robert answered.

"Do you think she could be working with Taisla?" I asked, grabbing a book off from the shelf.

"I had my suspicions since my talk with Imogen but now I'm convinced she's working against us," Robert clarified, rubbing his hands and his forehead wrinkles on full display.

"Should we talk to Imogen about it?" Lucas asked.

"I'm not sure she would believe us but her mother already plans to hurt her," Robert said, my eyes to glared at those words.

"Is it about her mother taking away her power," Lucas asked, biting his lip.

"Yes, if she manages to take her power, Imogen will die," Robert spilled, feeling the tension in the room change.

"If she dies, I won't be able to get my full powers back," Carter complained as I imagined myself beating him up.

"Thank you for your concern Carter," Robert joked letting a smile crept on his lip. "I don't want to keep her safe, just to have our powers but because she's a young girl who needs guidance in the world."

"Okay, but you didn't answer the question! We are telling her right?" I asked.

"Mmm," Robert said, rubbing his chin, looking immersed in thoughts. "I think we should wait for a couple of days, keep close eyes on Imogen to make sure she's safe."

"That's ridiculous we should let her know now!" I exclaimed.

"Drew, she just got her mother back, she's gonna be devastated. We have to figure out a way that wouldn't hurt her," Lucas explained.

"We should just rip it off like a band-aid," I protested.

"You don't make the decisions, I do!" Robert stated, slamming the desk and looking deep into my eyes. "You will do as I say."

"I need a drink," I replied, walking towards his alcohol cabinet. I took one of the clear crystal glasses and poured some into it.

"It's 8 in the morning," Carter commented.

"Never too early for a drink," A cheeky smile formed on my face as I swirled the liquid around the glass and drank it.

----------

"Why should we wait? It won't hurt her any less," I rambled to Lucas as we were walking back to his car.

"Trust me, I don't want to keep secrets from her either," Lucas admitted, walking down the black stone pavement.

"Then let's tell her or better yet. Let's get rid of her mother," I suggested, raising my brows.

"Do you hear yourself? You want to get rid of her mother? What do you think Imogen would do?"

"Probably hate me but been there done that. Those are the two options we have," I explained.

"I'll tell her tomorrow alright, she would want to find out from someone who loves her and has her best interest," Lucas stated, pressing his keys to unlock the car.

"Let's go tell her now!" I exclaimed, opening the passenger door.

"She's hanging out with Kylie and she plans to hang out with her mother later. I think we can let her have one more peaceful day with her mother," Lucas answered, settling down in his seat.

"So we could give her mother a chance to kill her, "I expressed.

How fucking stupid can this boy be?

"Frankie is going to be with them, I doubt she would risk exposing herself in front of her," Lucas explained as he pulled out of the parking lot. "Please don't do anything you're going to regret."

"I won't," I flashed a convincing smile. "What time is Imogen supposed to come back?"

"I'm sure, around 5 or 6 maybe," Lucas shrugged. "Why?"

"No reason," I felt his eyes digging into me but he didn't utter another word. I can't just leave it alone, I have to do what I think is right. My gut is telling me to ignore what everyone else is saying and go confront Imogen's mother.

-----

"Thank you, for the ride," I said, unbuckling my seatbelt and getting ready to exit the comfortable leather seats.

"I didn't have that much of a choice," He laughed."Don't do anything stupid."

"I won't, probably just going to go hang out with my girl," I answered.

I have to come up with a believable alibi

"Bye," He said, driving away.

"Idiot," I scoffed, grabbing the keys from my pocket, twirling them with my fingers.

------

Here I was, parked in front of Imogen's vibrant house. I didn't really have a plan, besides going in there and exposing her. I noticed that Rebel's black truck wasn't in the driveway, meaning he was mostly at work or with Katherine. It's currently 3:30 which meant Imogen should still be hanging out with Kylie.

I took a deep breath, preparing myself for what is to come. I got out of the car and started walking up Imogen's decorative porch. I knocked on her door and waited for someone to open it. I hope her mother is home or this plan was a bust, my thoughts were interrupted by the door opening.

"Oh, hi Drew, Imogen isn't home right now," her mother answered with a simple smile on her face.

"Oh yeah, I texted her. She said I could just wait for her at home," I said, awkwardly waiting for her to move and not block the door.

"Mmm okay," she squinted her eyes at me before another smile appeared on her. "Come right in."

"Thank you," I said, entering the cozy living room. I walked to their navy blue couch and sat down, trying to make myself comfortable.

"I was making some tea, tea always seems to calm my nerves when I'm alone," she said. "Would you like some?"

"Umm, sure why not," I chuckled, looking around the bright maroon colored room. I turned to watch her, filling up the teapot with water to boil. She went into the cabinets, taking out vintage looking pink teacups.

"My anxiety seems to rise every time I'm left alone, so you can see I drink tea pretty often," she said.

"Is it because of what happened to you that night?"

"Yeah, I'm just so paranoid nowadays, it drives Imogen insane sometimes," she joked.

"I'm sure she understands," I reassured her, soon enough the teapot was making an irritating sound. I lifted myself up from the couch and walked towards the island in the middle of the kitchen. I watched her mother poured the water into our cups, she smiled gently as she placed the cup in front of me.

"Would you like some sugar with it?" She asked, waving the sugar container at me.

"Yeah, that would be nice," I answered, as she handed me the container along with a spoon. After about two spoonfuls, I swirled it around and watched the sugar dissolve. I blew on the cup before taking a sip from it.

"Isn't Imogen the sweetest, she always makes sure I'm fed and puts me to bed," She mumbled as she was sipping her drink.

"Yeah, she's really caring," I replied, sipping my tea.

"Imogen is who I wish I was when I was younger, beautiful, smart and the-,"

"The chosen one?" I cut her off, seeing her smile disappeared from her face. "You want to be like Imogen because she has all the powers. Am I right?" I smirked, drinking my tea staring at her bulging eyes.

"I have no idea what you me-,"

"Cut the bullshit!" I exclaimed, seeing spit leaving my mouth. Her confused look disappeared and turned into a more sinister one.

"Well," she paused to drink from her cup. "I'm glad someone is smart enough to notice. It's so boring pretending to be a fragile useless woman," her eyebrow was raised, with a sinister smile plastered on her lips.

"Why are you working against your daughter? What will you gain from it!"

"Oh," she laughed, pushing her long brown hair off her shoulders. "What will I gain from it?" She said, making her way towards my side of the island. "Power."

"Power," I scoffed, "Taisla is who would receive the power, not you," I said.

"That's what you think," she raised her brow, staring deep into my soul.

"Taisla is just going to kill you after you help her. Have you ever met the mystery woman?" I said, lifting myself up from the seat to intimidate her.

"Oh, Yes, I know her quite well," she smirked, walking back to the sink. I reacted quickly, grabbing a knife from the set left on the island and quickly walking to plunge it into her back. Before the knife could pierce her skin, I felt a strong force holding me back.

"I wouldn't do that if I was you," she turned around, a smirk upon her face as she focused on the knife. The force kept getting stronger and stronger, turning the knife towards my direction. I bite my lip, trying to fight the force. I placed my other hand on top but it didn't nudge one bit.

"Silly boy, too bad Imogen won't get to say bye to this sexy piece of meat," she teased, feeling the force increased even more. The knife was just a few inches away from my face, every second going by the knife was getting closer to plunging into my eye. My heart-gripping feeling in my chest increased as well as my heartbeat, regretting not listening to Lucas.

Maybe I was the idiot.

I felt my blood rushing rapidly through my body, probably last time it will.

"Drew!" I heard coming from up the stairs, causing the grip of the force on me to break. I was able to put the knife away from my body quickly before she got the upper hand on me again. "What is happening here?"

"Frankie, nice of you to join the party," she said, trying to act as casual as possible as if she wasn't trying to murder me seconds before. I met Franks's gaze, seeing her worried look upon it. "Drew and I were just having a really intense conversation," she replied, walking towards Frankie.

"Oh, what were you guys arguing about," Frankie asked, her eyes filled with fear as Imogen's mother was twirling her hair.

"Nothing that would interest you," she smirked, caressing Frankie's cheek. "I just love your curls! Did I ever tell you that?" Her back was faced towards me and I decided to go after her again. I won't fail this time I told myself as I picked back the knife. I walked towards her quickly, making sure not to make the floor creak under me.

"I thought you learned your lesson," I saw her hand on Frankie's throat cutting her airway. "Don't come any closer unless you want to risk her life," she smirked, gripping her throat tighter.

"What- d-o y-ou wa-nt," Frankie forced out as a lone tear traced down her eyes.

"You, actually," she smirked, licking her lips, "See I can feel the magic flowing through your bone," she stated.

Magic? Is Imogen's mother a witch?

"You can't take her! Imogen will never forgive you," I stressed.

I can't do anything without risking Frankie. I'm willing to risk myself but I can't bring her into this.

"You think I care about her opinion?"

"Take me instead, Frankie had nothing to do with this," I practically begged.

"I have something else planned for you," she smirked, her eyes filled with happiness. "You're going to tell Imogen that Frankie and I were kidnapped by Taisla."

"Why in the hell would I do that?"

"You don't really have a choice. I have the power to make you do anything, you're going to be my spy," she confessed.

"No," I said, getting ready to aim the knife at her. "I will not be a spy for you!"

I threw the knife at her, watched it flinging towards her but before it could stab her she stopped it. She stared at it, holding it up before sending back my direction. My eyes widened, fear coarse through my bones as I bent down before it reached me.

"You don't have a choice. I control you now," she stated. "Why do you think you attacked Rebel?"

"You made me do that?!"

"Well, I just amplified your pain, hoping you would hurt Imogen but Rebel was okay too," she smirked. I remembered being consumed by pain that day, just thoughts of hurting Imogen were in my mind. I saw her remove her hand from Frankie's neck and banged her head against the wall. My heart plunged to my stomach as I watched her body fall to the ground.

"She will be safe with me," Imogen's mother said, walking towards me, bending down to be face to face with me. "Now, you will tell Imogen that her poor old mother and best friend were brutally kidnapped. You tried to help but were overpower by them," she grinned and started chanting a language I've never heard of. I felt my vision starting to become blurry, the whole room was shaking before it turned black.

------

"Drew!"

"Drew!" I heard a faint voice.

"Drew!" I woke up suddenly, meeting her eyes glistened filled emotion, pulling her eyebrows down, wilting like flowers in the autumn. My eyes wandered around, seeing I was laying down on the couch with Imogen placing a cloth on my head.

"Drew, are you okay? What happened? I came home to see the door open wide again," she said.

"Drew, did you come here to attack her?" Lucas questioned, with his arms crossed his chest.

"Attack who?" Imogen said, her eyes darting back and forth between Lucas and me.

"I don't remember anything," I spilled, feeling a mirage forming. "I think someone kidnapped them."

"Them?" Imogen glistening eyes stared into mine.

"They took your mother and," I swallowed the lump stuck in my throat. "And Frankie."

"Why would they take her? What do they need her for?" Imogen said, carrying her face with her hands. "Who did you want to attack?" The silence crawled through the room, the tension kept growing as the silence did. "You guys are hiding something from me! Just tell me!" She demanded growing impatient from the silence.

Lucas went to sit in front of Imogen, grabbing a hold of her hand. "Okay, I'll tell you," he breathed out. "Your mother is working with Taisla," he confessed, rubbing her hand with his thumb.

"She wouldn't do that," she shooked her head "She wouldn't sacrifice her only daughter right!" Her eyes glistened in the light, the brim getting filled with tears. "Right," she sniffled, darting her eyes towards me.

"I'm sorry Imi, it's true, we had a meeting with Robert about it," I confessed.

"Robert? Did everyone know about this besides me?" She whimpered as her bottom lip started to quiver. "I took care of her, I always made sure she was okay, I prayed every night to have her back with me, I love her an-d she's willing to just giv-e m-e u-p!" Her voice cracked, letting her tears escape her eyes. Lucas pulled her into his shoulder, rubbing her head and whispering reassuring words into her ears.

I laid down on the couch, trying to remember what the hell happened tonight. I remembered driving here, drinking tea with her mother but after that, it's blank. Like when I drink too much causing me to blackout. This does not feel right, the whole situation is leaving an uneasy feeling in my stomach.
