Memories

Imogen

We walked hand interlocked into his room upstairs. His parents weren't here at the moment, but I'm usually here, so I doubt they would mind. His room was cluttered with his schoolwork. Stacks of papers everywhere since he probably has so many tests coming up since it's close to the end of the school year. The last time I studied was during the beginning of the year. Most days I'm just too tired to get work done.

"Sorry for my books. Gotta past those tests," he nervously chuckled, trying to move the stacks of books off his bed.

"Shit. .. I forgot all about that. I'm obviously not passing," I frowned, inspecting one of his papers showing a complicated math problem.

"I don't even remember learning this. You have a dumbass as your girlfriend," I sighed, pushing my brown locks from my face. Instantly, I felt like hiding myself from him.

How could I let myself fall so far behind?

"You're not a dumbass. Being special has just made your life more complicated," He assured me, softly grasped my chin. He turned my head, fixing me in place with those enchanting eyes. "None of this is your fault."

My lips formed into a sweet smile, leaning towards him and placing a gentle peck on his cheek.

--------------

After what felt like countless hours of cuddling and watching chick-flicks. Lucas started working on his homework while I rested in bed, catching up on social media. He kept telling me how many assignments he had due this week and that he's probably going to have to pull many all-nighters just to catch up.

"Should I leave?" I asked getting up from my bed.

"You don't have too. But if you have something else to do you can. I'll miss you though."

"I have to go see Frankie but I'll be back before I have to go back tomorrow," I said putting my boots back on and grabbing my cardigan. "Bye babe," I pecked his lips before walking out.

"Bye," he yelled while I stepped down the stairs.

I haven't had time to see Frankie since discovering out about her baby. I want to be there for her, for these hard time. My heart longed for her, no-one deserved to go through this. Frankie was braved to keep the baby from her rapists but I'm not so sure the baby survived those dreadful wounds.

I texted Drew since I assumed he was probably with her.

TO Drew The other boy you love

I rolled my eyes when I clicked on his contact. He must have changed it when he asked to use my calculator. I debated over changing it but ulitmately decided to focus on seeing Frankie again. Hopefully, I remembered to change it before Lucas noticed or that could cause another problem.

What hospital is Frankie staying at?

From Drew
Saint Jude's hospital

Well, that pretty far walk, the amount of exercise I've been getting. I clicked on the phone icon and called for a taxi. I'm not walking this late in the night alone to some area that I never been to before. Especially, knowing the bounty on my head growing higher with every day that pasted.

----------

To pass time, I played a few games on my phone and eventually noticed the car stopped. I looked up to see the hospital in front of me. Accident and emergency, wide entrance with automatic sliding glass doors, ambulances lined up outside, paramedics wheeling in patients on trollies, one is a child in a neck brace.

I pulled my wallet from my pocket, and handed him a twenty dollar bill. After collecting the change, I exited the taxi and continued up the path towards the sliding doors. Everything was so frenetic inside but I kept my gaze on the main counter.

"What room is Frankie Kane in?" I asked the nurse that was currently sitting in the front counter. She smiled at me and started typing into her computer.

"Sure, one second Hun," she said, sending a small smile while her fingers glided against the keyboard. "Room 103, floor 6."

"Thank you," I smiled back.

Quickly I scanned the room in search of the elevator which was down the lengthy white halls. The doors shut once I entered and rose to sixth level after I pressed the button. Luckily, I didn't have to ride the elevator with anyone else and patiently waited for my stop. When I exited the elevator there was a sign pointing to the rooms hundred to hundred and ten. I followed the arrow leading to her room.

Slowy, poked my head in, seeing Drew holding Frankie in the bed. The gestured looked adorable in my eyes but I also felt a burning in my chest. I bit my lip, staring at them longer than intended until I noticed Drew glacing my way and instantly smiled.

"Is Frankie awake?" I asked since her face was buried in the crook of his neck.

"Yup," she jolted from his neck. " Been up for the past 10 minutes," she said, pushing the dozens strands of her curly hair blocking her features.

"Drew, can I talk to Frankie alone?" I asked glancing back and forth between him and the door.

"If you kiss my cheek I will," He smirked, tapping his left cheek and waited for me to place one on it.

I stuck my tongue out. "You're really asking me to kiss you in front of your girlfriend aka my best friend?" I lifted my brow, and stared at him with stern expression.

Frankie giggled at my comment and jabbed Drew in his belly causing him to groan.

"I'm pretty sure she would be fine with you joining us," He winked. "Right Franks."

"Ewww, Drew! You're disgusting," Frankie said, slapping his shoulder and kicking him off the bed.

"Go away, Drew! It's girl time," I said, using my hip to push him out of the room.

"Fine, whatever I was hungry anyway," Drew said, clearly sounding irritated.

"How do you deal with him?" I joked, strolling over to take Drew's place in the bed.

"Ehh he's less annoying in private moments," Frankie said, shifting her body on the pillow and fluffing it for better comfort.

Funny how when you don't like anyone anymore that you realize why in the hell did you like them in the first place. Drew is more childish than I remembered but clearly I was blinded by my feelings for him.

"So how are you doing?" I asked, grabbing a hold of her hand.

"The best I can be I guess," She sighed as her lips forced a smile on her face.

"I know you don't want to hear this but I'm sorry for your loss," I lamented, glacing down at our wrist and getting distracted with Lucas's name on mine.

"Drew is being really sweet with everything," Frankie said, using her other hand to play with her strand of hair. "I just wished she didn't have to die. I would have loved to meet her but I guess it wasn't meant to happen."

"The baby was a girl!" I said, staring into the plain walls and imagine serveal scenarios with her child.

Since Frankie would have picked me as the godmother, I could've been spoiling the child with endless supplies of dresses and toys. Her daughter would have been so beautiful like Frankie and I knew she would make sure she was loved. Frankie wouldn't want her child to go through what she had with her cruel parents.

 This shouldn't have happened.

I can't help but feel somewhat responsible

"Yeah. . ." She trailed off and sniffled.

I glanced up to see her eyes filling up with tears. "Frankie, I'm so sorry," I hugged her tightly taking in the fresh lavender smell coming off from her. I kissed her forehead and stroked her hair as she continued silently crying.

"Frankie?"

I looked up to focus on the person in front of us.

"Parker?" Frankie said, drying her tears and removing herself from my arms.

Not only was Parker here to visit Frankie but her father stood right behind him.

"Imogen, can you give my daughter and I some alone time?"

I nodded and lifted myself from the bed. To be honest, I didn't want to leave Frankie alone with her father but he scares the living shit out of me. Every time I'm near him an eerie feeling always arose. There are in public and I doubt her father would try to ruin his reputation right before the governer voting.

I opened my phone to call another taxi to drive me back home. Might as well give my beloved brother a little visit too.

Rebel

After Katherine left I didn't feel any memories yet but all I can think of was that kiss. Something I never felt before. With Emma, our kisses are powerful but not like how it was with Katherine. It felt like missing piece to my puzzle. Like we are supposed to be together.

Now I'm in the same position as Imogen. Since the memories should be popping up any moment now I will remember my entire relationship with Katherine. Ulitmately I will have to choose but Emma has made it easier on me by disappearing. I wouldn't want to cause them anymore pain then we already have to deal with.

I just couldn't bear the thought of breaking one of their hearts and causing them to go what I went through. When Emma disappeared, I was so depressed and spent most of time searching for her. My grades dropped since I had no motivation to do anything else but sulk in my room. I really wondered how Katherine could have done so many things while she was heartbroken by losing me.

The door creaked open causing myself to return back to reality.

"Hey, Rebel," Imogen said, forcing her boots of with her feet and placing them into the shelf next to the door.

"How did I survive without my amazing sister? I missed you knucklehead," I boosted up from the couch and rushed over to give her hug.

"Aww I miss you too, Reb! Really I do," Imogen said, pretending like she couldn't breathe from how tight my grip was. I've only been in Imogen's life for a little over a month but I have known about her for my whole life. It's about time we finally became family and couldn't happen in a more perfect time.

"Want me to make you something?" I offered, assuming she hasn't eaten in days.

Katherine can't be treating her that badly.

"Would you mind? I'm starving," She laughed, rubbing her grumbling belly.

"Of course not!"

I walked into the kitchen which is an open concept while Imogen rested on the couch. I glanced into the refridgetor inspecting what ingredients we had. Work has been busy this week and led me to skip a grocery trip. The only items in the refridgetor were eggs, bread, and mayo which was perfect for a sandwich.

I turned the stove on medium and sprayed butter on the pan to keep the egg from sticking. Once the pan was warm enough, I cracked the egg into it and waited for it to cook. While the egg cooked, I toasted the bread in the toaser and grabbed a butter-knife from the cabinet. Before I could take another step, a sharp pain twisted my leg. My vision became blurry and my body crashed to the dusty floor along with the knife my hand held onto. The mirage was becoming stronger almost unbearable to handle. It wasn't long until I started screaming to kill the pain.

"Rebel what's wrong!?" Imogen worriedly shouted, her footsteps running through the room. Suddenly, I felt my head being moved onto her lap.

"M-y h-ea ahhhh!" I screamed, grabbing onto both sides of my head. The pain was so powerful I'm pretty sure tears sprung from my eyes.

Then all of sudden, everything went blank.

*Flashback*

"They're all bitches," I said, causing a snicker to escape from Jenny's lip. She quickly covered her mouth not wanting anyone to see her laughter. "Plus this wouldn't be as amazing with them!" I said, preparing for what I had planned next.

"What you me-," I cut her off by cupping her cheek that was slowly turning red.

I smiled at her before slowly leaning into her. My other hand was shaking slightly, my mind was repeating the same sentence over and over, "Don't mess this up, Don't mess this up." But the sound of my heart was beating so loudly I couldn't concentrate. I felt like it was going to explode.

Finally my lips touched her. Sparks flew in every direction, and the world was slowly disappearing around us, along with all our worries. It was a small yet warm kiss. I honestly never knew a kiss so innocent could be so intimate and electrifying. Her lips moved in perfect sync, my hands feeling her waist. I felt her hands on the back of my neck playing with the ends of my hair. A smile grew on my face as it started to tickle, finally we pulled away.

"I've been waiting so long to kiss you!" I smiled, trying to catch my breath and caught a glimspe of Jenny's rosy cheeks.

"I'm so glad you finally did," she beamed, glancing around to see if the popular girls were still around, I'm assuming.

"Ice cream babe?" I asked, grabbing a hold of her hand and pointing towards the ice cream parlor.

"Yeah," she nodded, as her eyes glowed looking at the parlor.

*end of flashback*

The memory ended but my head was still throbbing at the temples.

"Rebel!?" I could sense the fear in Imogen's voice.

"The memories it's the memories," I answered, noticing the pain stopping for smudge second before attacking me again.

"How can you be getting them back?" Imogen asked

Everything was still blank, nothing but white lights was appearing. When is it going to end?

*flashback*

*5 Months of dating*

"Rebel we are going to be late," Jenny whined tugging on my arm.

"Babe I'm called Rebel for a reason," I joked, but immediately regretting it gladly she laughed at the joke.

"You know school is important to me," She whined, pouty her lips and making her irresistible.

Jenny was an honor student and a shoe-in for valadiction if she kept her grades up for the next two years. However, I could care less about school and barely managed to get C in all my classes. My foster parents won't be able to afford college so what's the point of doing good in school? I thought about being a police officer until I realized how fucked up the world is.

Now I don't even care about my future as long as Jenny is by my side I'll be alright!

"I have a gift for you," I said, pulling out a small silver box from my backpack.

"Rebel you didn't have too. You are the best gift I can ever ask for!" She said, smiling so cutely causing my heart to thump out of my chest.

"Rebel!"

My eyes suddenly opened to tear-filled Imogen, obviously worried about my health.

"Imogen I - I'm okay," I manged to say before everything went blank again.

*flashback*

I  carefully handed her the gift box."I hope you like it!"

She untied the pink ribbon that was wrapped around the silver box and opened it. She gasped, covering her mouth. "Oh my god, you did not." she pulled out the silver bow-tied shape ring. "A promise ring!"

"I promise to never leave you," I grabbed the ring and placed it on her ring finger. "Jenny I love you so much." She was a bit caught off guard .

We never actually said I love you to each other. When our relationship bother started we decided not to rush anything but I can't deny that I don't love her. I understand if it's too soon for her to repeat it back to me but I'm okay with that. One day she will be able to return them.

"Rebel. . ." She trailed off, probably not knowing what to say.

"It's okay babe. You don't have to say you love me. I just wanted you to know I love you so much and will never hurt you."

*end of flashback*

"Rebel, wake up!"

"Imogen I'm sorry it's th-" I got cut off by the agony again.

When is this going to stop? I don't know how much I can take of it.

*flashback*
5 1/2 month

"Jenny, are you really mad," I frustratedly groaned, watching her slam my car door.

"Yes, and I have every right to be," She said, dashing to her front door.

I rushed from the car to right after her.

"Stop it. It was nothing!" I said, catching up to her.

"That bitch was all over you and you did nothing!" She shouted, her eyes swelling up with tears.

"I don't give a shit about her!" I shouted right back growing irritated with the whole situation.

"Sure. Whatever just leave me alone," She said, pushing me out of the way. She reached into her purse to pull out her keys to open her front door.

"Jenny do you not trust me?" I questioned, putting my hand across the door to stop her from entering.

"Of course I do," She responded.

"Then why don't you believe me," I said, tenderly touching her cheek with my thumb.

"Because you can have any girl and you chose me. Why? I'm nothing special. I'm not even close to being beautiful. I'm not the skinniest person you ever met. That girl was ten times prettier than me. She could steal you away from me in a heartbeat," She said, showing all her insecurities to me.

"Why don't you think highly of yourself? You're so beautiful. Every time you look at me with your beautiful face I can't help but get so nervous and feel my hands start sweating. Your body is perfect the way it is. In my eyes your incredible. I love you for you. No one can steal me away from you because I only have eyes for you," I said, reaching for her hand but she pulled it away.

"I think we should break up. . ." She whispered, keeping her gaze on the floor.

"What? I just confessed my love for you again and you decide to leave me?" I said, unable to process what's happening. "Why are you doing this?"

"Maybe we just weren't meant to be," she said, wiping the tears from her eyes. " Soulmates don't always work out," she whispered under her breath but I was able to hear.

The tears escaped from my eyes and slide down my cheeks. "I know you're lying. You don't want to break up with me," I sniffled, trying to lift her chin to face me but she turned away.

"Yes, I do!" She rosed her voice.

"Fine! If you want to break up so badly then I'll leave. But this is your fault for breaking the promise I never intended on breaking!" I shouted, storming down the stairs and to the car.

Why is she being stubborn?

"Ughh!" she frustradely shouted, flaring her arms in the air.

"What?! I'm doing what you asked!" I shouted back.

"You dumbass! I don't want to break up. The thought never crossed my mind. I'm just afraid because I love you so much that you leave me like everyone else does!" She yelled, kicking the wall out of anger. I rushed back to her, watching as she wiped the mascera that was streaming down her face.

I wrapped my arms around her petite body, tenderly rubbing her back to console her. "I'm sorry I got mad at you Rebel. I'm just scared," She confessed, sobbing into my arms.

My hand reached to cup her face, making her gaze meet mine. "When are you going to notice? You're the only one for me, I love you," I said, stroking a strand of her auburn hair behind her ear.

"What about her?" Her eyes flickered at my wrists that read, 'Emma'.

"Not even her, Jen," I wiped her tears.

"Rebel Blake I'm unconditional in love with you!" She said, placing her soft plump lips on mine.

*end of flashback*

"Rebel why are you crying?" Imogen asked, brushing my hair back.

"The flashback. The first time Je-" I paused, "Katherine and I ever fought. But also the day she returned my feelings." The smile didn't fail to sneak on my lips.

"I really loved her Imogen," I said.

"Do you still love her?" She asked.

Do I? It could just be all the memories bringing up old feelings but I feel like it something more than that. I glanced at my hand, realizing a promise ring was still on my finger. How did I never notice this? Deep down I must have known it meant something deep. I never got around to buying Emma one since I wasn't as romantic with her. Emma would always go out of her way to be the passionate partner.

"Yeah, yeah I think I do still love her," I said, smiling and twisting the silver ring.

"What about Emma?" She asked.

"I-I don't know," I lifted my head from her lap. "I'm going to sleep it off."

"Okay do you need help getting to the room?" Imogen asked, putting most of my body weight on her shoulders to help me up.

"I'm good, Imi," I smiled, slowly walking to the wooden stairs in the middle of our living room.

I used the railing to handle most of my weight and ascended up the stairs. My room was right after Imogen's and not too far from the stairs. I laid my body onto the bed that felt like heaven. The bed was almost perfect but my pillow needed to be fluffed. All the pain exhausted my body to the max and my eyes immediately closed. Suddenly a bright light appeared.

*flashback*

Today is the start of my new life January twenty-first, two thousand and ten, a wednesday. After spending countless nights rehearsing my lines I'm finally ready to ask her out. Jenny Valentine; the girl of my dreams. No, she isn't popular more like a typical girl who always the top of the class. Today, she was rocking her ripped blue jeans and converse to match her black shirt that read "Potterhead."

Her long crimson hair was in a high ponytail with some strands popping out but she still managed to look effortlessly beautiful. Finally, it was the last period of the day and I will be able to finally ask her out. The bell rang catching me off-guard since I was daydreaming about her all through class. I had to stuff my bag quickly since she was already out the room.

"Jenny!" I shouted, watching her turn around. She was searching around for the person who had called her.

"Who called me?" She asked, clutching onto her books.

"Me! Jenny. I need to ask you something," I said, placing my hands in my pocket to hide the fact that they were trembling.

"Okay, yeah," She said, walking closer to me. I grabbed her hand and dragged her to my locker. Hopefully my hand wasn't too sweaty. I punched my combination and pulled out a rose.

"Jenny I would love it if you could join me on a date," I said, handing her crinkling rose that was dying from the lack of sun. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to keep it in your locker Reb. Her eyes widened, grabbing onto the rose .

She was shocked that I asked her but why? She's the most beautiful person in this world.

"I would love to Rebel, She smiled, her cheeks turning rosy pink.

*end of flashback*

January twenty-first, two thousand and ten. How could I forget? Oh, right my memories were tampered with. Oh, Katherine how you are messing with my feelings. The bright light shined once again.

*flashback*

Currently, my phone read midnight. I sneaked over to a graveyard where Jenny's father asked me to meet him. When he called I was shocked that he wanted to meet since he never liked me to begin with.

"Mr. Valentine?" I said, seeing a figure walking towards me

"Thank you for coming, Rebel," He said, covering his face with his jacket. "I have a plan and I need you to help."

"Help with what?" I asked, growing suspicious on why he was covering his face.

"I need to kill Jenny," he blurted out, shocking me to the core.

He wants to kill his own daughter? Why?

"Why?" I asked.

"To keep her safe from people like you," he said, narrowing his eyes towards me.

"Me why me. I wouldn't ever hurt her," I said with a stern tone.

"I know that. . . You're just different. You are going to end up getting my daughter killed!" He insisted, getting annoyed. "Are you helping or not?"

I slowly nodded. "I need you to kidnap her and bring her here," He gave me a piece of paper with an address written on it. " I'll finish the job myself."

Wait why was I going through with it? There's no way I would want to hurt her! There must be something missing but of course the memory ended. I need to see more there has to be more to the story.

"Come on show me more," I slapped myself a couple of times. However no bright light appeared living me hopeless. I jolted from my bed and rushed down the stairs.

"Imogen! I need to see Katherine," I said, scaring the living shit out of her.

Her eyebrows knotted together, sending a puzzled expression my way. "Umm. . . I'll take you to her."

So Rebel got most of his memories back. How do you feel now that Rebel might have help Katherine die which turn her immortal? Do you guys think Katherine and Rebel are going to work after that? Let me know in the comments
