Imogen Has To Die
mia-carmen dedication to you!
Frankie
The purple wallpaper covering this room was irritating my soul more every day that I was stuck in here. The only place I could escape to was the living room, but everyone acted so cautiously around me now. I knew they were just trying not to awake the demon inside me, but I hated being treated like a spoiled child.
I usually would sneak out during the night to avoid Rebel. I'd imagined myself finally getting the courage to confess my feelings for him, but instead, I had my ego altered by Taisla, who then went ahead and kissed him. Besides, Katherine tended to be over a lot and I was afraid to face him. Did Rebel tell her I forced one on him?
Katherine already took away my unborn child. What else could I lose? I didn't even understand how Rebel could be in love with a repulsive scum like her. He could do so much better. He deserved someone who wouldn't kill people for amusement. My thoughts were interrupted by my phone buzzing on my desk.
from -Imogen
I'm going to the Lakehouse with Lucas. I'm sorry for leaving you alone with Rebel, I know how tense things have been.
Love you xoxo
To-Imogen
Go have some sexy time with your mans ;) Love you xoxo
Great! Damn you, Imogen! I couldn't blame her; she had so much on her plate. She deserved a day to relax and pretend that her life isn't falling to pieces. She always came in to check on me, making sure I'm eating. I knew she tried hard to act normal around me, but I could sense the wave of nerves that surrounded her when she's around me.
Abruptly, my door is pushed open. My eyes saw his black combat boots and were afraid to meet his gaze.
"Frankie!" Rebel said, snatching my phone from my hands. "Where did you find your phone? You know you aren't supposed to use it unless in fron-"
"Front of Imogen or me," I mocked him. Imogen always sneaked my phone away from Rebel. She knew I wouldn't do anything.
"Quit mocking me," Rebel sneered, searching through my unlocked phone.
"I just wanted to call my brother. I didn't know it was a crime to show interest in your family's lives," I grumbled, viciously taking the phone from his grip. I clicked on the phone icon, feeling Rebel's eyes stabbing me in the back. "Can I have some privacy?" Sassiness laced in my voice.
"How do I know you won't call my mother?" Rebel asked, leaning his back on the purple wall. I gave him the "are you kidding me" look, gesturing him to exit. "Fine, make it quick. I'm taking you to Katherine's house."
I rolled my eyes, throwing my hands up in frustration. "Why? Can I just stay here?" I asked, batting my eyelashes to attempt to look innocent and pouting my lips. Rebel playfully rolled his eyes, letting out a slight chuckle.
"No! I'll be back in 30 minutes." He glanced down at his watch. "Get ready," he said, walking out the room but dashing back to close the door.
Thank God! I always hated when Parker would enter my room and leave my door open.
I unlocked my phone, clicking on Parker's name and waiting for it to start ringing.
I was fidgeting with my pants, waiting for an answer.
"Hello," he said.
"Parkerrr!!" I squealed. "How have you been? I'm sorry I haven't called for the past few weeks. Life has been getting crazy lately," I told him.
"Hopefully crazy in a good way," he chuckled.
"How's Aunt Sana? Does she spoil you like she did when we were younger? You better have stopped smoking!" I rambled.
"Yeah, she's really nice and definitely checks on me more than Mom did. The only downside is not being able to have girls over," he laughed. "I went to go visit Stephanie's grave before leaving. I'm sorry that happened to you," he trailed off.
"Yeah... I haven't visited her in a while," I muttered.
I wondered how different things would be if I didn't lose her. Drew and I could still be trying to make it work, but I'm grateful our relationship ended.
"She would have been beautiful like you, Franks," he said.
"No, she would have been stunning," I muttered. "Sorry about not shipping your items out yet."
"It's fine but send some condoms," he whispered, clearly trying not to get heard by his stern guardians.
"I thought you aren't able to have girls over."
"Yes, but I could still go over there," he commented.
----------
My feet rushed downstairs before Rebel could yell out my name. I grabbed the first pairs of shoes, which were brown sandals, and sunk into the couch. Wow! I rushed down here thinking I was going to get yelled at, but he's sleeping on the chair next to me.
Should I wake him up? I could just let him sleep longer and get out of having to see Katherine. He would probably scold me after this, but I'd take it. It's definitely more tolerable than having to hear Katherine speak for hours. My thoughts got brutally interrupted when a buzzing sound came from his phone, vibrating the chair he was lying on.
His bronze-colored eyes fluttered open as he started to stretch out his limbs. He reached into his pocket, shutting the alarm off. I bit my nails while fidgeting with my feet on the floor.
"Were you planning to wake me up?" He yawned, stretching as he lifted his body from the chair.
"No, not really," I replied bluntly.
"Okay let's go. I told her we will show up just in time for dinner," he said, causing my eyes to roll back. I groaned, forcing myself to get up from the comfortable sofa.
--------
Katherine seemed to have moved to a smaller, run-down house. The vibrant yellow bricks distracted from the deteriorating wooden door. The garden seemed to be uncared for, which didn't make sense since she had servants. I followed Rebel up the gravel pathway, reaching the door. I swore one knock could knock the door down- that's how ancient it looked.
Her tall, slim frame opened the door, smiling and placing a kiss onto Rebel's lips. I felt my heart sink to my stomach watching them together. Her amber eyes softened when she locked with his. Rebel walked in while Katherine motioned for me to enter as well. I rudely shoved her with my shoulder when I entered.
Her violet walls were filled with portraits of herself. She must surely love herself. I followed down her small hallway leading into her kitchen. The yellow tiles elevated the brightness in the room. Along the middle of the kitchen was a blue-clothed table that was set with plates filled with steak, mashed potatoes, and rice, and I was ready to devour it.
Rebel and Katherine were already sitting in their designated spot, leaving a spot in between them. What did I do to deserve this? I walked to my seat, moving it so I could squeeze in. I felt my eyes expand when viewing the food, my mouth felt like it could drool at any moment. I picked up my fork, stuffing it into the mashed potatoes and devouring it up.
I slightly moaned, enjoying all the flavors from the mashed potatoes. The next food that entered my mouth was the juicy, tender steak that made my mouth water more.
"It seems like you're really enjoying the food," Katherine commented, cutting her steak into some pieces.
"Yeah, I doubt you made it," I mumbled, swallowing the massive piece of steak.
She scoffed, wiping her hands with a napkin. "Well, you aren't wrong," she laughed, her tongue poking at her cheek.
"It's great," Rebel commented, lifting himself to place a kiss on her cheek. Her cheek turned a light shade of pink, her lips conveying a smile.
"Do you have a drink?" I mumbled, struggling to swallow the meat in my throat.
"Sure," Katherine said, eyeing Rebel who leaned over to the fridge and reached for orange juice. I lifted my glass, pushing it towards Rebel, and waited for him to fill it up. Immediately, the orange juice went down my throat, satisfying my thirst. I placed my hand on my chest, right between my breasts, and took a deep breath, feeling an internal foreign feeling.
I shook my head, trying to shake the feeling off. My eyes landed on my plate, seeing all blurry, and my body felt like I had gone on the gravitation too many times. I reached out for my fork, seeing double. I didn't understand what came over me, but I felt dizzy with a mixture of tiredness.
"Frankie! Are you okay?" Rebel voiced was laced with concern, eyes open wide. "You're starting to look pale," he examined, shaking my hand lightly. My eyes struggled to stay open, feeling myself starting to drift into the darkness.
Third Person's POV
"Rebel place her here gently," Katherine said, pointing down on the floor that was surrounded by candles. Rebel placed Frankie's body gracefully in the circle, moving her hair strands from her freckled face. Katherine was in her room, gathering up the grimoire needed for the spell. She carried the five grimoires into the next room.
The grimoires were color-coded in every section. Rebel admired Katherine while she was inspecting the book, her features mesmerized him. His heart ached, feeling guilt from the kiss shared with Frankie, but he couldn't figure out a way to tell her. He thought holding it inside wouldn't hurt anyone but him.
"I found it," Katherine cheered, reciting the spell in her head. Rebel leaned back down, preparing to help Kat with whatever she needed.
"Should I bring matches for the candles?" he asked, starting to get up again.
"It's okay. I got it." She closed her eyes, and the candles burst with flames. Rebel was in awe, finding magic fascinating to look at.
"So are you a witch too?" Rebel's brows furrowed, watching for Katherine's reaction.
"No, I'm a siphoner," she admitted. "I'm not able to produce my own magic. I'm able to possess the ability to absorb magic from an external source," she confessed, her eyes shut.
"So you're using Frankie's magic?"
"Yes, but I only have so much magic to perform the spell so let's start!" she stated, her eyes fluttering open. Rebel went down on his knees in front of Frankie's head.
"Was it really necessary to spike her drink? Why couldn't we just ask her?" Rebel asked, regretting making the young girl go through it.
"And risk her getting angry and trying to kill us!" she exclaimed, eyes bulging from their sockets.
Katherine felt no remorse. She didn't even like her, but she didn't want Rebel to know that. Katherine knew Frankie was basically in love with her boyfriend. She would get rid of her if it wasn't for Rebel.
"Okay..." Rebel softly said. He understood her reasoning but couldn't help his heart feeling heavy.
"Go fetch me some water," Katherine demanded, her eyes looking at Rebel whose eyebrow was raised. "Pleaseee," she whined, pouting her lips and causing a chuckle to emerge from his lips. Rebel nodded, walking out to his kitchen and filling up a bowl with water. He walked back, handing the bowl to Katherine who was now in front of Frankie.
"Let's begin," she said as Rebel looked down to see Frankie's fingers slightly move. Her eyes fluttered open, struggling to grasp the view of what was going on. She kept moving her head left and right, trying to keep her eyes from closing.
"Looks like she's waking up," Rebel stated, biting his fingernails from the stress he was in. Katherine dipped her fingers into the bowl then, placed them on her temples. The fire instantly brightened, increasing its range from the candle. The length of the fire showed that the spell has started and Kat was in deep concentration.
"How long is this going to take?" Rebel asked, feeling the eerie air sweeping into the room. Frankie's eyes started rolling back into her head as Katherine connected, performing the spell. All Rebel could see were the whites in Frankie's eyes, as she tried to pry herself from Kat's grip. Eventually, Kat was able to settle her down.
"What happened when you were kidnapped?" Katherine asked, forcing her to answer.
"Taisla placed a spell on me, making her the controller of my actions," Frankie spoke, her eyes rolling back.
"Do you think she knows about this?" Rebel nudged Kat, wondering if they were being heard right now. Katherine shook her head, not wanting to break the spell by explaining it.
"Are you working with her?"
"Yes, I have no choice," Frankie admitted.
"Everyone has a choice," Katherine protested.
"How do we kill Taisla? How can we get rid of her?" Katherine blurted out. They discussed the questions that were going to be asked, but this wasn't one of them. Frankie jerked her head aggressively, trying to remove her head from Katherine's grasp. Frankie's eyes flashed open, exposing her chestnut eyes filled with fear.
"She will kill my brother if I tell you," she answered faintly, "I don't want my brother to die," she wailed. "Don't make me, please!"
"Katherine! It's okay, we can find this out another way," Rebel exclaimed.
All Frankie had this year was pain, and he couldn't let something else happen.
"No," Katherine commanded, strengthening her hold on Frankie, causing her to submit to Kat. Frankie's head laid back down on the floor, peacefully showcasing her amber eyes becoming white once again.
"How can we kill Taisla?"
"After the ritual when she kills Imogen to gain her powers. Right before the powers absorb into her skin, you could kill her with the special dagger that only she has or with an immense form of magic," Frankie admitted.
"Imogen has to die in order to kill her?" Rebel asked, shoving his fingers into his black locks. Rebel was feeling stressed. No matter what they did, they couldn't seem to get Imogen away from danger.
"Imogen has to die," Frankie repeated, moving her head back and forth.
Rebel shook his head, wanting to release his anger on the wall. "No," he sighed, feeling his eyes cloud up with tears.
I just want to find a way to protect my baby sister. Why is it so hard, he thought?
-----
"Do you think she will remember anything," Rebel asked, helping Kat gather up all the materials used. He was picking up all the candles that were warm and felt like they burned his fingertips off every time.
"No, she will only remember that she lost consciousness," Katherine said, moving her black locks from her face.
"I guess I'll say she fainted and stayed asleep the whole time," Rebel said, receiving a nod from Katherine. It was getting pretty dark; Rebel was trying to rush to make it back home before it was too late. After dropping the candles in the book that was in her room, he rushed over to Frankie, lifting her slightly.
His arms held most of her body while he used his shoulder to block her head from getting hurt. Frankie seemed to start regaining consciousness, yawning and wrapping her arms around Rebel's neck. Rebel felt her radiating heat against his chest, inhaling her natural vanilla scent.
"Here," Katherine said, handing him silver-chained handcuffs. "This is able to keep her powers from controlling her," Katherine admitted.
"How is she going to school in these?" Rebel asked, laughing at how obnoxiously large the handcuffs were. But if they could stop her from losing control, it's worth it.
"She probably won't. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing those," Katherine laughed, walking back to the hallway but stopped and turned on her heel. "I think Frankie has enough power going through her veins to kill Taisla. When I touched her, I felt overpowering magic. If she can control it, she can try to kill her."
"But what about what Frankie just told us?" Rebel asked, furrowing his brows.
"I know what she said but her magic! She has more magic than a hundred witches would have," Katherine explained. "There's just one catch..." She bit her bottom lip, feeling nervousness course through her body.
"Which is?"
"The power could consume her." She eyed him cautiously. "Resulting in her death." Rebel's chestnut eyes widened, feeling his arms go numb and almost dropping Frankie in the process.
