Find me
Imogen
"Who the hell is this lady?" Drew asked, his eyes narrowing towards Lucas and me.
"I don't even know her name. She showed up to the dance searching for me. But why would she need to take Frankie?" I wondered, biting my lip.
Drew paced back and forth in the room and blurted out, "I know someone who could be able to track her down."
"Okay, take us to her then," Lucas said.
"Alright," Drew groaned, taking out his phone from his pocket.
During the call, I made sure to pay extra attention to his conversation. I overhead her asking Drew if we could meet her at her house. Drew glared at us, waiting for nods of approval, and asked her address. He continued speaking with her for a few more moments before ending the call. He wrote the address on his maps app while we walked outside to Lucas's car. Drew sat shotgun since he was going to help Lucas get there.
The Mercedes came to a roundabout with a fountain at the center, swept around it, and continued up toward a fantastic sprawling house. It was Victorian, redbrick topped with copper domes and spires that had long ago turned green. There must have been at least a hundred windows on five floors facing the drive.
Lucas parked the car in her massive driveway and rushed over to open the door for me. He placed his hand out for me, causing my cheeks to burn red. Drew dashed over, latching onto my vacant arm. Lucas interlocked our hands but I couldn't enjoy it with Drew constantly tugging me.
"Drew let go!" I rolled my eyes playfully.
"You will be safer with me holding onto you," he winked, tightening his grip on my arm. Lucas placed a small peak on my cheek, which caused the butterflies to arose in my stomach.
Drew bitterly rolled his eyes."You guys make me sick," Drew said, pretending to vomit.
Such a child.
"Let's go in. We shouldn't keep her waiting," I said, dragging them towards the front gate that lead us to the door. Once we reach the silver glass door, Drew knocked on it and we waited for a response. After a few moments, the door opened with a young woman appearing.
"Hi, I'm Kasey, I heard you guys are in need of finding someone and this is the perfect place," she said, reaching her hand out waiting for a shake. After we all shook her hand she moved to the side and let us all in.
"Okay follow me," she said, walking back down her hallway.
The first room was stuffed with ornate chandeliers, and oil paintings of young woman in those old fashion clothing. The stairs led down into a tall galleried room with a rug spread out flagstones, and a fireplace big enough to fit two cars in it. A long polished wooden table was set with a laptop and water bottles.
She sat in front of laptop, her fingers tapping on the keys instantly. Lucas and I sat in the opposite of her while Drew went to sit right next to Kasey.
"So Drew who do you need me to find?" she asked as her brows knotted and she continued typing rapidly on her computer.
"Someone who attacked my friend and kidnapped my girlfriend," he answered.
He probably didn't want to mention I was the friend who was attacked. Kasey could be aligned with those people who are fighting so hard against me. Also since when have they changed their status into relationship? Frankie never mentioned any of this to me.
"Do you have a name? Or anything?" she asked, still typing endlessly on her keyboard.
Drew shook his head. "I could describe her, that's about it," he stated, leaning closer to her, having their shoulders touching.
"I guess that will do for now," she replied. "Let me just hack into the government database," she said, taking a sip from her drink and continuing to type swiftly. Drew's eyes were wide as he watched the girl at work. "Okay, I'm ready," she said, pulling her hairtie from her wrist and using it to tie her hair into a ponytail.
"Okay from what I can remember she had short curly auburn hair ending around her shoulders. She seemed around this height," he explained by placing his hand on his chest. " And she looked like she was in her mid-twenties. Oh, and also her eyes were hazel. . . I think," he added.
"Okay, I found around 20 people fitting your description. Take a look and see if you can pick her out?" she said, sipping her drink as Drew leaned in closer to have a better view.
"I think this one," he pointed at the screen. "Katherine Halls," he read. Kasey's eyebrows furrowed as she started clicking on it.
"Wait, something isn't right," she explained using her mouse to click around. "It say Katherine was born over a thousands years ago. There's no way she's still alive unless. . ."
"Unless?" I said.
"Maybe she's not human. Her address is available if you guys want to go take a look," she said.
"Might as well go check it out," Drew said, staring towards us. Lucas and I both looked at each other, talking to each other with our eyes.
"Okay, let me just print it out for you," she said, getting up from her seat and going into another room. She came back out with a piece of paper and handed it to Drew. Kasey insisted on going with us and we decided to let her join us. Kasey called shotgun to help Lucas with the directions. Sadly, that meant I was stuck in the back with Drew. I made sure to keep the farthest distance from him but he kept shifting closer to me.
"Why do you keep moving closer?" I asked, giving him the side-eye.
"I'm just trying to keep you safe," he said.
"You're just going to make me fall out of the car," I joked.
"Are they hooking up or something?" Kasey interrupted, causing my head to fling towards her.
"She's my girlfriend," Lucas intervene. "She wouldn't waste her time with him," he clarified, tapping the wheel as he waited for the light to turn green.
"I think Imogen would love to be my girlfriend," Drew smirked, and I nudged him with my shoulder.
-----
During the drive there we passed a huge amount of parks and wooded areas. It's like she lived on the rural side of town, with all the farms and forests by her. I got a little excited when we passed by the farms, sheep are just so darn cute. My heart leaped when I saw a pink sight meaning pigs!! I always wanted a pet pig for the longest time.
We eventually reached to the house loomed proudly behind creaky iron gates, flanked by rows of skeletal trees crowned in crimson, swaying gently to the chilly winter wind. The house had large yard and barnyard possible for animals. The gate was half open making it easy for the car to seep through.
"Still wanna go?" Kasey asked, unbuckling her seatbelt.
"Yes let's go," I answered, removing my seatbelt and getting out of the car.
Lucas followed me to the entrance of the house while Kasey and Drew went to check out the back. We reached up to the door which opened right when we got there, sending eerie chills down my spine. I inhaled my nerves, looking at Lucas realizing he felt the same way I did but we went in anyway.
The house seemed dusty like it hasn't been cleaned in years. Every movement in the abandoned house sent a vortex of dust into the previously stagnant air. I couldn't help but cough with all the dust I was inhaling. Every time I walked down the hall the feeling of spider webs tickled my face. The first room we saw was cluttered with boxes. All the boxes were labeled with a sharpie, that has to start to fade.
"We should look through them," I suggested, walking to the box label "Life Story" and Lucas walked up to the box labeled "Family."
I opened the box feeling the dust wandered into my eyes causing them to become irritated. My hands rubbed them roughly trying to ease the burning pain. I pulled the box open, reaching for the first book from the box. Plumes of dust erupted from the old book, giving the air a musty spell. After wiping all the dust off, I started inspecting the pages.
Most of the pages were filled with random pictures and symbols that weren't known to man. The symbols seemed like they were code for something secret and most of the writing was in an ancient language.
"Have you ever seen this language?" I questioned, hanging the picture out for Lucas to catch a glimpse of it.
"Well, well I knew you would show up here," an unknown voice said causing my body to jerk.
I turned around meeting face to face with a red-haired woman who had a smirk plastered on her face.
"How? We weren't even sure if this was your house," I said, my lips slightly parted.
"You found me because I let you find me," she smirked, walking around in circles, placing her fingers on every object.
"What do you want? Where's Frankie?" I demanded.
"Calm down my little grasshopper. Time will tell besides I noticed that you need help figuring out those symbols," she said grabbing the book from my hands.
"The first symbol," which appeared to look like a necklace, "That means immortality. If you have this necklace then you can't die," she confessed.
"This symbol," a weirdly shaped knife, "This is what you're supposed to be killed with and the last symbol means blood. My father plotted to make me immortal and kill me. He didn't want to lose me but in the end, he d-," she paused for a moment, taking a deep breath, " he lost me in another way." Her father didn't even give her a choice, just forced it upon her.
"If you want to see Frankie, you have to come with me. But I don't promise that I'll release you," she admitted.
There's no doubt that I have to go get Frankie back even if it mean putting myself at risk. She's already at risk and I knew she would do the same for me. We love each other so much and are always there for each other.
"Lucas, I have to go and check on Frankie," I said.
"Are you sure?" his worried eyes bore deep into mine.
Frankie has done so much for me and I can't allow her story to end here. I need to go save my best friend and bring her back to us. Deep down I felt like something wasn't normal and I have to go make it right.
"I'll be okay," I whispered, placing a peck on his cheeks. "Make sure to look for me."
"I won't stop till I have you back by my side again," he said leaning in for a gentle, loving kiss.
"Don't worry, I left clues," Katherine interrupted, taking me into her hold.
--------
Here I was being driven to god knows where and was handcuffed. Why would I bother to escape if I decided to come on my own terms? There's no reason for her to cuff me. I'm getting annoyed at having to be tied together all the time. Hopefully, we reach the house soon so Katherine could unlock these filthy handcuffs off.
"We're here," she said, stuffing the keys in the hole and unlocking my handcuffs. I rubbed my irritated wrists. "Now don't try anything or I will have to kill your beloved Lucas and Drew as well. I know you claim you don't care about him but that only works on Lucas," she smirked.
She dragged me up her driveway and to the entrance. She opened the screen door, which seemed like the house she was currently living in.
She probably used the other house to capture her victims.
She grabbed my wrist, pulling me towards a door that seemed like it led to the garage. Into another door we go, she pushed me into the room and closed it before I could get. I heard the door lock meaning I'm stuck.
I started feeling around the room searching for a light switch or rope. Once my fingers felt a light switch, I flicked it on but nothing turned on. I started feeling around the floor and found a flashlight possibly. I kept poking around the object seeing if there was anything to push. Eventually, the light flashed on and I shuffled down the stairs.
I roamed around the room, flashing the light around. I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. Is there even anything in here? I beamed the light and discovered a fragile body sitting on the floor.
"Franks?" I gasped, dropping the flashlight as I rushed towards her. She was sitting her back on the wall. I was horrified by the sight of her, she had a knife in her stomach along with bloody cuts on the face. Her stomach wound was pouring out loads of blood, it was never-ending.
"I-mi," she moaned, her pale hand roaming around looking for mine. I wanted to pull the knife out of her but I was afraid to hurt her. It could also cause her to lose more blood and she already lost a huge amount.
"My baby I-it's dead isn't it?!?" She sobbed, gripping tightly onto my hand.
She was pregnant? Why didn't she tell me? Was she embarrassed about what I would think? I wouldn't judge, I would have supported her. I could have been a godmother for her child.
"Your baby? We need to get you help," I insisted. "Is it Drew's? He was so worried about you," I told her.
"No, no I-i-i was raped," she admited.
Drew's POV
Kasey and I have history, we have known each other since we were younger. She's older than me but that didn't stop us from becoming friends. She was known as the drug dealer in our school and I used to purchase them off of her. I went through a dark punk phase and rebelled against my mother's rule. If it wasn't for the time I almost got arrested, I would have probably continue going down that path.
"What happened to Dylan?" I asked, trying to keep a conversation going to waste time.
"He died." She bluntly said, emotionlessly while walking into the room.
"That sucks I guess," I said, not knowing how to react.
"Not really he was an ass. I was just too in love to ever notice," she explained. "Do you remember when you had a little crush on me?" She added, smirking.
Kasey is older than me by three years not much but when I was tweleve she was fifteen so she always made fun of me when I brought her flowers. I really cared about her at least for how much a tweleve child cared about candy. We hooked up once before she started chasing after Dylan. I was so brokenhearted about the situation that I couldn't help but ignore her.
"Do you really have a girlfriend or just saying that to make that girl over there jealous?" she asked, lifting her brow.
"Both," I smirked.
"Be careful. Don't play with girls' feelings, they will destroy you," She punched my shoulder playfully.
"Did you hear that?" her eyes widened, holding onto my arm.
"What?" I asked, my eyes darting to the area where sound came from.
Lucas strolled into the room, looking quite uneasy.
Where is Imogen? Last time I saw her, she was entering the house with pretty boy over here.
"Lucas where's Imogen?" I asked, walking closer to him.
"Katherine took her. . . She says there are clues around," He said.
I rolled my eyes at his stupidity. How badly I wanted to punch pretty boy right now. I clenched my fists and grabbed his collar. Repeatedly slamming my hands into his face, feeling relief every time.
"Stop it! If you ever want her to like you don't hurt anything she cares about!" Kasey advised, jumping on top of me.
"Let the fucking boy go!" She said and tightened her grip on my neck basically choking me.
"Fine," I groaned, letting go of his collar and waving my hand.
Lucas used his sleeves to wipe up the bloody nose my punches caused.
"Let's start looking for the clues!" I said.
