Ch❷.

I, Hunter and three county deputies crowded around the boy.
"There's no way that could have been done by a lighter."
Hunter looked up at Burkow, "And it wouldn't have done this much damage."
As they discussed what kind of fire tool was used during this homicide I just so happened to get a glance at the open computer that was rested on the kitchen table.
It looked off...but at the same time I could make out something moving on the screen.
I raised an eyebrow and curiously walked toward it.
As I edged ever closer I could see a black image start to form.
But then a double beep came into the air along with a voice over the radio.
   "46-B do you read?"
I glanced over my shoulder to see Hunter pull his walkie talkie up to his ear.
"46-B I read you. Over." I nodded and looked back toward the computer screen.
It was completely off at that point.
One of the three county deputies took a couple notes,Deputy Lukas Rogers, strangely he was the only County Sheriff's computer fraud Specialist.
Rogers was in his late twenties or so with an air of military orderliness-- buzz-cut hair, athletic build, and square jaw line. For most men his age around here, he had a boyish enthusiasm for ferreting out larceny. At such times he'd smile and shake his head in disbelief in slow motion  over what people thought they could get away with.
On Rogers' business computer screen, it often scrolled with rows of text but this time it was his phone.
"This log lists IP addresses making connections to their server....Notice that we've got a number of connections at around the time the  victims parents were called."
He shared with another deputy who I believe was new in our sector.
"Hey Hunter, I spoke with the secretary, and she said they'll be able to trace weather or not our target somehow hacked into their IP address and tracked it back here."
That was a possibility around here since most people around these parts are over the top smart.
But a murder?  Especially a child murder?
What I found strange was why the guy didn't even try to attack the other family members, this child was apparently targeted.
At the same time Burkow was right,  there's no way this could have been done with a lighter Without  gasoline but there's no scent of it in the house.
"we'll take him in for further investigation,  I'll send some other officers to do a sweep of  the house for clues. "
Hunter nodded as I traced my steps back to the door and called for assistance with the body.
