Chapter 17 (1/2)
[Not well checked, probs lots of mistakes and most likely cringy writing]
Frisk shook with fear, staring at the inside of the elevator. Chara had noticed their fear all the way through Hotland, and grabbed their hand. "It'll be okay." They assured. "We've done this before. We can make it through."
This made Frisk calm down enough for them to put on a determined expression, and lead them into the elavtor. The doors closed and the elevator automatically started to head downward.

Frisk was still screaming and clutching Chara, though they had already made it to the bottom floor. "Frisk," Chara called in an attempt to make Frisk aware of their surroundings. "Frisk!" They called louder, finally getting Frisk to stop screaming.
"Oh hey we're here," They said nonchalantly, letting go of Chara, "Why didn't you tell me?" They walked into the True Lab, Chara rolling their eyes and following behind.
Despite being here multiple times, the ambiance was still unsettling to both humans. The dim lighting, the strange smell and, after their first trip here, the knowledge of the creatures they would encounter.
Frisk quickly took hold of Chara's hand once again. "Red key first." Chara reminded. Frisk simply nodded in agreement.
Chara made their way to the room to the left of the main power room, passing by what looked to be operating tables. Frisk followed close behind, quivering like a cold turkey.
They got to the three sinks at the end of the room, knowing exactly which one held the first amalgam they would encounter. Chara made their way to the sink closest to the wall, Frisk hanging behind. Chara placed their hand on the knob(dark and grimy from god-knows-what), looking back at Frisk. "Ready?" They asked.
"No." Frisk stated, but their adventurous nature couldn't be challenged. "Do it!" They urged daringly.
Instant regret washed over them as Chara turned the knob.
A white, slime-like substance began to ooze out of the faucet, pouring into the filthy bowl. "Grossgrossgross..." Chara muttered, wiping their hand on Frisk's sweater, Frisk too frozen with fear and awe to react. Nothing more poured out of the faucet, the bowl full of the moving, pulsating, liquid-- solid. It rose slightly, then suddenly swelled to the ceiling, revealing the miserable jumble of previous monster species the humans had encountered-- which ones, they could not identify. The two were forced into a battle.
Frisk nearly puked and fainted at the same time. Simply the thought of the many monsters melted together, in silent agony, sickened them. Voices rang from the phone in Chara's pocket.
"Come join the fun."
"Join them Chara!" Frisk shook the other human. One of the many pieces of the Memoryheads crawled up to them and made contact to Frisk's foot. Their face flared up with panic. They felt the urge to kick it away, but knew that the Amalgam was simply trying to call out for help; Frisk knew they meant no harm. But that didn't stop them from being creepy and distrubing.
Frisk shook Chara more urgently, the panic evident in their eyes. "JOIN THEM!"
"Okay, okay!" Chara complied, "Geez." They opened the command menu, which currently stated "But nobody came," igniting Chara's slight PTSD but they didn't show it. They chose act, then "Join."
The Memoryheads halted their advances, including the one attached to Frisk's foot. They seem to not care anymore, the text box read. "Cool." Chara said, then preceeded to spare them, the three amalgamates seeping into the cracks of the floor and walls.
Frisk shuddered. "Four left," Chara announced, grabbing the red key left behind in the sink.
After placing it into the keyhole in the room right beside them, the two humans made their way to the other side of the lab. Before entering the red door, Frisk decided to buy a couple of potato chisps -- not for health purposes, but to give them something to help ease their nerves.
They passed the hallway of the two entries -- which they did not need to read; they were both well aware of what had happened here -- and entered the bedroom of the labortory.
Frisk approached one of the beds, its cover pulled back. "I remember taking a quick nap here, and when I woke up the cover was over me," they looked up at Chara, smiling, "Was that you watching me from the grave~?"
Chara rolled their eyes, then stated nonchalantly, "No, an Amalgamate was stalking you then tucked you in."
All color drained from Frisk's face. They laughed desperately, "You're, joking, right?"
"Save point," Chara walked across the room to the point.
"Y-You were joking, right?!"
They continued to not answer, approaching one the beds, a dent in its cover. They threw the cover off, revealing the yellow key. "CHARA, YOU WERE JOKING, RIGHT?!"
"Shhh," Chara shushed, adding the key to the keychain, "It's rude to disturb the dead."
Frisk reluctantly followed them to the next room, full of tables covered in flowers, the opposing walls of the room lined with mirrors.
They passed by the first mirror, Frisk exclaiming, "It's you!", blatantly making a parody of Chara speaking to them at Home, but it didn't offend Chara enough for them to care.
They passed by the second mirror, Frisk once again exclaiming, "It's still you!"
Third mirror, "After all this time, it's still you."
"It's still us," Chara corrected.
"Us," Frisk repeated, "Yeah, that works."
They then passed a long line of mirrors. They stopped short, acknowledging the box that appeared in the mirror over their head. "Oh, I almost forgot-" The box expanded into another amalgamate; Frisk stumbling backward, having been caught off guard.
The text box proved to be useless, showing a simple comma. Frisk looked up at the Amalgamate, it hanging over the text box. "Tall bird tall bird!" They panicked.
"Uh-huh," Chara disregarded them, looking at their ACTions, "Uh, should we mystify, hum, pick on-"
"Wha- I DON'T FUCKING KNOW!" Frisk yelled, "Just pick one! I don't think it matters anyway."
"Okie dokie, asshole," Chara retorted, choosing to pick on. "Um, hEY! You're like big bird but if he were...thinner and more terrifying?"
It seemed effective. The text box read.
Reaper Bird let out a series of noises, a mixture of talking and screeching, making whatever it was saying unidentifiable. A sudden swarm of moths began to gather around the humans, Frisk forgetting they counted as enemies, touching one and losing health.
"Oops." They said simply in response.
Chara groaned, and continued to the multiple ACTions, the Amalgamate attacking them each time inbetween until finally, it stopped screeching. The voices could be heard, though they were talking together.
It seemed the Amalgamate had calmed down, so Chara took the chance and spared it. The two humans continued to the room connected, finding nothing but a note and an empty blue key slot.
"Shit." Chara groaned.
Frisk sighed, and turned to exit back out the door. "Back to the hallway."
