Heart of the Demon (7)

(Demon Urata x Human Sakata)

~Mini series~

————————

Soraru just watched as the redhead continued to lay on his stomach, mumbling into the pillow about something he couldn't comprehend. I sometimes wonder how he's even my brother?

"Oi Sakata, you know that you probably shouldn't bury your face in a pillow when you want to say something, right?"

The redhead let out a small whine, lifting his face to look at the older male. Soraru had to hold the chuckle that was going to escape after seeing that the male's face. I've never seen him look this embarrassed.

"Niichan~ stop laughing~" Sakata whined as he buried his face into the pillow again.

"I wasn't laughing," Soraru tried to stop the grin from forming on his face.

"I can hear it in your voice, and it's visible on your grin too." Sakata muttered, his voice being muffled by the pillow.

"You're just going to hang out with the shortie, you don't have to look like your secrets were exposed." Soraru sat on the redhead's bed and gave him a small smile as he patted his back.

"That's the point~"

Sakata raised his head, his cheeks were a bit puffed out. Even as his face was completely red, the raven-haired could still see the light tints of pink around his cheek.

"I don't know what you mean?" Soraru playfully said as the redhead weakly glared at him.

"I'm gonna be alone with Urata~" Sakata said as if that was a bad thing, "you'd let your precious brother be alone with someone like him?"

"You've practically always been with him because of that deal," Soraru bluntly stated, "and you seemed to enjoy having him around."

"T-That's different," Sakata bashfully said as he turned his head to hide his face, "t-that's just because I have to help him so he doesn't have to be stuck with me."

"Sure," the redhead could hear the sarcasm in the older male's voice, "and you just have to be nice to him and you just have to always be by his side. I think it's more of a want than a have."

Sakata felt his face heat up even more, covering his ears with his hands, he buried his face back again in the pillow.

"You know most people probably would've looked for more desperate methods to break free," Soraru stated, knowing the redhead was getting more embarrassed than he already was, "yet you two are calm about it, even he hasn't pestered you."

"Why couldn't you be dumb?" Sakata muttered as the raven-haired rolled his eyes.

"Just admit that you're thinking of this as a date and that's why you're embarrassed because you like him."

"E-Eh?!?" Sakata snapped his head up as he began stuttering, "I-I don't l-like Urata, I-I'm just embarrassed that s-someone might get the wrong idea!"

"I expected the shortie to be the tsundere, not you."

"S-Soraru!"

"I think you're more worried about the thought of him not liking you," Soraru mumbled under his breath, that could explain why you seemed down about it earlier.

Sakata was starting to think he'd need to pour cold water on his face to calm down. He groaned as he buried his face once again in the pillow.

"Oi tomato, you done groaning?"

"Niichan's mean~"

"You live with me and you just realized," Soraru sighed as he ruffled the redhead's hair, "if you're still that bothered by it then just say you don't want to go. I'm sure the shortie wouldn't care since Amatsuki's the one forcing him to do this."

Hearing that made the redhead upset, he sighed as he lifted his head and lightly slapped his cheeks.

I think that's the exact reason I don't want to go... Amatsuki is the one making him take me....it's not on his own accord.

Sakata looked at the silver cross necklace that was resting neatly on his nightstand. He slapped his cheeks again as he finally sat up, giving the raven-haired a slightly annoyed pout.

"Why are you the one giving me advice? I should be the one to help you, like confessing to Mafu. You're suppose to be emotionless~"

"Oi," Soraru pinched the male's cheek, "you're the one that came whining to me."

"O-ow~ I'm sowwy, I'll stwop making a fuss~" Sakata pleaded, sighing in relief once the older male let go of his cheek, "everyone keeps abusing my cute face..."

Soraru rolled his eyes as he got up, "well have fun on your date tomorrow."

"E-Eh?!?"

The raven-haired just laughed as the redhead made a weak attempt to throw his pillow as the male left his room.

Sakata crossed his arms as he pouted, I'll get back at him eventually with Mafu.

"Though I honestly didn't need to whine and make a big deal out of it as much," Sakata sheepishly admitted to himself.

But is niichan right? Do I really like Urata or is it just some demon magic thing because of the deal that is making me like this....

The redhead shook his head, still unsure at why he felt his heart become heavy at the thought.

"It's fine, knowing Urata I'm sure he'd probably be able to convince Amatsuki or someone else to join us so it isn't that awkward."

Sakata flopped on his bed, hoping he wouldn't be a nervous wreck the next day, and closed his eyes as he fell asleep.

*****

People were enjoying the nice day walking around and heading to places. Some passed by the short brunette, they could probably sense his irritation just by looking at him if they did.

Next time I see Amatsuki, I'm punching him without warning.

The red eyed brunette had kept teasing him and pestering to him about this whole thing.

"I swear he's asking for a death wish," Urata muttered to himself, irking himself even more as he thought about the male giving him 'advice' and overall trying to be a matchmaker.

He really is determined to make this a date for us. And yet despite being annoyed, Urata didn't protest as much and still went along.

This is just to show my gratitude. This is just to show my gratitude, this isn't a date, why would I want to date that cu—

The short brunette stopped his thoughts, feeling like he'd end up smacking his head somewhere if he continued.

He sighed, I'm becoming an idiot the more I hang out with him. The short brunette tried to ignore some of the comments he heard here and there, mostly about how cute he was or things similar to that.

When he'd glanced around, he would sometimes accidentally make eye contact to someone, a few would wink at him or make a flirt expression but he just roll his eyes and look. That idiot better get here quick before this irritation makes me do something I'll regret.

"Hey Urata."

The short brunette looked to see the redhead that had arrived, a smile on his face. Urata's irritation seemed to have died out the moment he saw the redhead, he gave the male a small wave.

"Eh? Is it me or do you look different?" Sakata asked as the short brunette rose his eyebrow.

"Huh?"

"I'm just used to seeing you in your demon form that it's a bit weird seeing you as a human," Sakata stated as he gave the male a small smile.

"You've seen me as a human before though, remember?" Urata said with an blank look on his face.

"T-True."

Sakata sheepishly looked away, wondering why he was even embarrassed at seeing the male like that. It's just that he looks like someone waiting for their date... Sakata blushed and slapped his cheeks while the short brunette looked at him in slight confusion and amusement.

"I was starting to think that maybe you weren't that much of an idiot but you just proved me wrong."

"Hey! I tried to compliment you."

"A terrible one, the only difference is that I don't have the horns, wings and other demon features," Urata stated before grabbing the males hand, "let's go, I'm getting tired of people staring at me like I'm eye candy."

Sakata let out a confused noise as the short brunette dragged him. He glanced at their hands that were intertwined, almost looking like they were puzzle pieces that fit perfectly together. He blushed a bit, using his free hand to lightly slap his cheek again.

"So what should we do?" Sakata asked once he recovered from the blush.

The short brunette stopped as he let go of his hand, the redhead was already missing the warmth before mentally scolding himself for thinking like that.

"I don't know," Urata said in a bored tone, "you can choose since this is just my way of thanking you so far."

"Oh right...." Sakata quietly muttered, Urata lifted his eyebrow as he noticed the redhead's slightly sour expression.

After thinking about it for a few seconds the redhead shrugged and gave a vague suggestion.

"How about we just go on some rides?"

"Geez why didn't I think of that?"

Sakata pouted at the short brunette's sarcastic tone, Urata playfully smirked as he pinched the male's cheek.

"Alright lead the way then, just make sure your idiot self doesn't get us lost."

"Hey!"

The two then headed to whatever ride they wanted to go on. There were instances were Sakata would unconsciously reach out to the male's hand before stopping himself.

Stop Sakata~ You're acting like an idiot with a crush. His face heated up, sheepishly laughing to himself about his own thought.

Hours have passed and the two were having fun, forgetting about the fact that the red eyed brunette had forced them to go. They went on rides, had conversation from time to time, and overall just enjoyed their time together.

Urata would occasionally let his eyes wander to the redhead, noticing his energetic and beaming smile, and he couldn't help but smile too.

It was as if the longer they were there, the closer they seemed to have gotten.

If people saw the two and how they were acting towards each other, they'd probably think that there was something going on between the two.

At one point they were at one of the game stands, the short brunette watched as the redhead try his best to win. He was amused at the male's determination, and without thinking the short brunette used his powers to make the redhead win, the look of happiness on Sakata's face made him chuckle.

"Hey, Urata did you see that?! I won!" Sakata eagerly shouted as the male just playfully rolled his eyes.

"So even an idiot like you can be good at something huh."

"Hey!"

The sky began to change to color, first turning into an array of orange shades before getting darker and darker. They were walking side by side, their hands so close that a small movement could make them brush against each other.

The redhead saw the glint of cheerfulness in the short brunette's eyes. Whenever he's in demon mode he's more sadistic and easily annoyed but now he looks like a childish teenager that's full on energy.

Sakata was glad it was dark, he didn't want the male to notice how his cheeks flushed a rose-like color.

The more he was with the male, the more his heart beat rapidly, the more his feelings seemed to grow without him knowing.

Sakata noticed a ferris wheel that was further ahead, the lights on the sides decorated it in a colorful showcase.

"Hey Urata let's go on the ferris wheel." The redhead suggested, wanting to go on one last ride before they left.

"No."

"Eh?" Sakata gave the short brunette a confused look, "why~"

"I'm getting tired." Urata casually said, the redhead searched the male's eyes before noticing something.

"Eh? You look afraid....wait, are you afraid of ferris wheels?"

"O-Oi!" Urata glared at the male, "w-why would I be afraid of something like that?"

"So you are afraid," Sakata let out a small laugh, "eh~ who would've thought."

"Oi shut up!"

"So is it because of the height~ are you afraid of heights too~"

Sakata enjoyed that he had something to use against the male and tease him, usually it was the other way around.

"Idiot, shut up." Urata threatened as the redhead giggled.

He could tell the short brunette was trying to hide the fact. So Urata does have a weakness~

"You're a demon that flies and can go on roller coasters just fine despite being afraid of heights but ferris wheels are a no-go?" Sakata let another small laugh escape his lips, "that's kinda the opposite of niichan w."

Urata pulled on the redhead's cheeks, annoyance written clearly on his face, "there's a different between being a demon where I know I can use my wings to fly than a human that'll fall to his death. Keep teasing me and I'll make you regret it."

Sakata closed his eyes as he pleaded for the male to let him go yet Urata could still see the cheeky smile on his face.

"You look disgusting with that smile on your face that it's slightly terrifying," Urata commented as he let go, "yep, you definitely are a masochist if you seem to enjoy me being like this. I wonder how your precious fishcake brother would react~?"

"E-Eh?! Cut it out with that! I'm not a masochist!" Sakata exclaimed, feeling his face heat up in embarrassment.

Urata chuckled as he poked the male's cheek and spoke is a playfully sarcastic tone, "sure you aren't."

"Mafu's more of a masochist than me." Sakata stated, as if saying that would defend himself against the accusation.

Urata rolled his eyes before grabbing the redhead's hand, "but fine, if you really want to then I'll go with you. But I'll kill you if you say anything about this."

"Are you sure?" Sakata asked, he didn't want to force the male to do something he didn't want.

"Let's just go before I change my mind."

"Okay~"

Sakata perked up and walked ahead, being the one to pull on the short brunette's hand. Urata just sighed, the corners of his mouth twitched lightly into a small smile, the fear that was in him faded away the moment he saw the redhead's bright aura.

The view from the ride was mesmerizing, the redhead would cheerfully looked around while the short brunette would sometimes glance at him with a soft expression.

Both were caught in the moment that they hadn't noticed that their shoulders would occasionally touch or their hands being on top on each other.

Not even when they looked at each other and smiled did they notice how their faces were a few centimeters away.

And just like that the night was over for the two, despite the fact that they tried to deny any implications of it being date to the other two males, it truly felt like one.

After parting ways, a small part of them wished it could've lasted a bit longer.

They were two idiots with hidden feelings finally shining through, but without their knowledge of it doing so.

Or maybe they did know, but didn't need to say anything. Like an unspoken message that didn't need to be conveyed with words and their actions explained it.

Whatever it may be, the day brought them closer than they thought it would and their emotions can be seen in their shimmering eyes.
