Chapter 8
Zeena: Defeated.
Zor: Defeated.
At some moment, I had woken back up. I wasn't able to move. Only listen.
[Narrator's POV]
Everyone stopped their fighting, surprised by the sudden sound of the announcer's voice.
"Defeated?" Zavok mumbled, "Impossible... We weren't supposed to lose yet..." He turned back to his opponent, "This battle ends now. We will see each other again." He jumped out of the stage, the other Zeti soon following. The walls of each stage fell, reuniting the five Smash Brothers.
Plus one member. "Villager?" Link asked, walking towards the small boy, "What're you doing here? How did you get here? Are you covered in blood?"
The boy didn't respond, picking up the fallen older boy. "Toon Link needed help," his face was tilted down, covered with a shadow, "He's unconscious; I'm not sure when he'll wake up."
"Now for the how you got here."
"I would explain but... I'm worried... Can we take care of him first?"
"Villager, you're breaking a rule by being here and-" Mario began, then Villager tilted his head up, revealing the tears streaming from his face.
"Please..." He cried, "I promise to leave... Just make sure he's okay!"
Everyone went silent, thrown off by Villager's plea. Just as Mario opened his mouth to say something, he was cut off. "I'm fine, Villa.." Toon Link groaned, finally gaining strength, "Put me down, please..."
"T-Toonie...?" Villa could barely believe his friend had already recovered, "Toonie!" He tackled the wounded boy to the ground, "ToonieToonieToonieToonie! You're alive!"
"Owowow... Villa, chill, everything already hur-" He was stopped by an abrupt kiss on the lips from Villager. The boy didn't mean for it to happen: his excitement had simply got the best of him.
Gaining control, he quickly pulled away, blushing wildly, embarrassed. "I-I..." He wanted to apologize, but couldn't gather the right words.
"I-It's okay..." Toon Link somehow knew what Villager meant, "L-Let's get going..." He hated the glares he was getting from his other teammates.
Ness floated down from the sky, landing gently on the ground, "Thank you Tanooki suit!" Everyone was quiet. "...Did I miss something?"
"No." Toon Link said, making an effort to stand and failing miserably, Villager having to support him, "Let's get going."
"Eheh, no." Mario responded, "Not in your condition. We'll set up camp here, until you heal."
"But I'm fine!" Toonie tried to stand again, failing all the same, "Somewhat..."
"I know you don't want to feel as if you're dragging us down, but you really need to rest," Villager said, "It's not good for you to fight when you can barely walk."
Toon Link hesitated, then gave in,"F-Fine..."
Ness leaned towards Link, whispering out the corner of his mouth, "So are they a couple, orr..."
Link rolled his eyes, "It's a good thing you're here, Ness. You can help start a fire."
"That doesn't excuse you, nor Villager, from following us," Mario said.
"Aww man," Ness groaned, "I don't understand why you have a stupid rule against it anyway."
"We have a rule against it because we can't have Resetti getting on to us for cheaters we didn't know existed!"
"That happened one time, and you let it get your overalls in a knot."
The two glared daggers at each other, "Sometimes I wonder why Sakurai let such childish characters like you back into Smash."
Their glares intensified, the two bumping foreheads, "Sometimes I wonder why they let such old men like you back into Smash."
Their arguing turned into barking, their eyes turning red, "I'll have you know I have been featured in countless video games for years and years to pass! How many have you and your little boyfriend been in, exactly?"
"Don't go bringing that crap up again! And don't bring my Uke into this either!"
"Ladies, you're both beautiful," Link said, trying to break up the fight.
"STAY OUT OF IT!" Ness and Mario yelled at him. Just as they were about to go back to arguing, an ax flew past their heads, centimeters from their noses -- it even caught a piece of Mario's hat.
"Link's right: Both of you need to shut up." Villager said, his back turned away from them and his ax returning to him like a boomerang, "It's rather annoying hearing the two of you argue about nothing. Ness and I'll take our punishment -- unless it involves us leaving, because I'm not leaving my Toonie's side."
Mario and Ness instantly straightened up, saluting along with the rest of the others, "Aye!" They had all been caught off by Villager's sudden leadership, and scared by his demonic voice. Clearly, he was more mature than he seemed.
This kid's scarier than I thought... Ness thought.
How can his emotions switch that quickly? Mario thought.
Does he have multiple personality disorder or something? Link thought.
I'm hungry... Kirby thought.
"Since you're standing there like dead fish," Villager continued, looking over his shoulder at them. He now kneeled in front of Toon Link, who laid down, rolled into a ball -- most likely sleeping. "Megaman, Link: You two go gather wood and other supplies for fire. Mario, Ness: When those two get the suppilies, you two can start the fire, without arguing." The mentioned two gulped, hoping they wouldn't find out what happened if Villager aimed for their heads the next time he threw his ax. "Do I make myself clear?"
They saluted again, "Aye!" then scrambled to do what the boy had assigned them.

[Villa's POV]
I sat in front of a balled up Toon Link, who had already fallen asleep, my back to the others. I had strayed from the rest of the group, who sat around the fire. They all sat in silence, and I thought to myself.
Ness came to sit beside me, not saying anything for awhile. Then, he spoke up, "Just because he saved you doesn't mean he likes you. Toon Link is good at misleading people into thinking he likes them. He's a hard character to read."
"I feel something." I simply responded.
"Huh?"
"With him. I feel something. A....special feeling... I'm sure you have a good idea of what it is."
"I..." He paused. "So you're in love. What're you gonna do?"
"Wait. It's the only thing I can do. He isn't in love yet -- I can tell -- so I'll give him a month. If he doesn't start showing signs, then I will."
"You're a smart little one, aren't ya?"
I smiled -- a devious smile.
