Stage 9 : juSt An iLLusIon

"Nnhhh......nyaa.......hisssssss"

It might sound like a playful cat, but in reality it was Kaira. She rolled around her bed. It seemed normal at first glance.....but wait....what is that ominous shadow above her?

For those with an insight in magic, it was rather easy to distinguish. It was Nightmare Fog.

From the name itself it is a magical gas that causes chaos in one's sleeping mind.

.........................

This continued for hours, until the one who had cast it decided to put a stop to it.

It was none other than the small child-like God himself.

*Click*

"So....would you mind explaining what you're doing here at the middle of the night?"

Sora was currently showing the video to none other than the perpetrator himself, Tet.

"I have nothing to explain to you."

Tet gave a rather cool expression, as if he didn't care about being caught.

"......I'll be going now...."

A puff of black smoke appeared on his hand, from the looks of it he wanted to continue harassing the girl.

"If you want to tell me on her, I don't care. Do whatever you like."

He gave a reassuring smile, however, Sora can tell that whatever he was doing it wasn't something he liked to do.

"Tch..."

His actions only made Sora click his tongue in annoyance.

It wasn't that he cared that much about Kaira since even while all of this was going on, Kaira was still acting like Kaira.

The only reason he tried to stop Tet in the middle of the night was because he was hoping to find some clues on her book.

That's right. Even though she acted normal, there was one thing that changed.

When left alone, she would get herself immersed in that book. No one knew for sure what was the contents of the said book, but the corresponding events makes it more and more suspicious.

"Ahhh!!!"

It was morning already and Kaira was alone in the courtyard when she felt a stare pointing towards her.

She dropped the book to the grass, to which it somehow went through the floor and God knows where it went.

"..........nii, we got caught..."

"Let's back off for now-......"

"Masters, what are you looking at?"

"What are we looking at?"

Somehow, everyone was at the same hiding spot Sora and Shiro were.

"Wahhh!!! She's coming here! Shiro we need to.....Shiro?"

"........buy me some time.."

Shiro had somehow gotten away and gave him a thumbs up before finally abandoning him.

"What are you three doing?"

Kaira gave a stoic face as she looked at the sweating Steph and Jibril while Sora was still trying to sneak off.

......................

Its been a full week since Tet last stepped into the castle, even after getting caught, he still continued doing his weird....ritual?

Sora decided to keep everything between Shiro and himself. Not even telling the person who needed to know about it the most.

Blank had already decided to play against the Warbeasts. They were now on their way to the Warbeast's embassy.

"By the way, where did Kaira decided to go?"

Sora asked Steph in a rather serious tone. Leaving alone that girl for herself was something he could not bare to do these days.

"Umm....she told me that she was going somewhere important..."

"Tch!"

"-Ehh!? But don't worry! She told me she wasn't going near Tet-sama....umm....Sora does she have a problem with Tet-sama?"

(A/N----Does Steph and Jibril refer to Tet with '-sama'? I forgot. I got bored to check the Light Novel or watch the anime so can someone tell me?)

Steph tried to calm Sora down after noticing a twitch in his face, but the moment she tried to do so, it seems that he became pale white as soon as he heard Tet's name.

He looked at his sister for an answer but she only shook her head and said:

"......Kaira will be Kaira...and Kaira is mysterious...-"

It was a huge problem for Sora at the moment. He somehow couldn't understand how that girl knew what Tet was doing and if she was even telling the truth about not going near him.

He decided to look at how Shiro was thinking about the current situation.

Now that you look at her, she seemed to be completely calm about this situation. No. She's not even thinking about the situation of Kaira. Worrying over it wouldn't change anything. After realizing this, Sora managed to get the resolve to get this thing with the Warbeasts over so could finally deal with Kaira.

At least that was the plan.

"-...guh............"

"...................."

"...................."

"...................."

All four of them had their jaws dropped the moment they saw Kaira leisurely drinking tea beside the Warbeast's ambassador.

"Wh-.....WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE?!

"Business chat."

She formally answered. After which, she immediately stood up and gave a 90* [ A/NI t's a degree symbol. I can't find one on the laptop so it's a substitute] bow and quickly walking off to the exit.

"Not suspicious at all-.......NOT!!!" was what Sora wanted to shout at the Kaira, but after being reminded by the ambassador of his presence with a small cough. He managed to stop a shout from coming out.

"Hey, old man. What did you two talk about?"

He gave a piercing glare at the old man.

"Why don't you ask the lady herself? If she feels like it maybe she'll tell you."

The old man gave out a rather confident smile.

..........................................

They were already in the middle of their negotiations. Sora had suddenly challenged the Warbeast's in an all-or-nothing challenge.

"Interesting"

It was decided that the game between the two races would be held in two days. With that the secrets of the Warbeast's game would soon be out for Imanity to struggle against. It looked to if Blank has already figured out how to win this one yet again.

"Stop it. Whatever you are planning."

"Hmm.....why should I? When things are falling exactly how I wanted it to be?"

It was preparation time. Sora and Shiro had already started their travel back to the castle. Sora felt a strange shiver down his spine. He pushed it off with a convenient explanation like a cold, but in reality, they had somehow gotten themselves in a deeper problem than they had originally intended to.

"Why is that? I'm only following what the rules are saying."

She  opens a book and pointed her fingers at a line in the book, showing it to the small god.

The two of them were casually floating up above the clouds. Above the embassy where the meeting between Blank and the ambassador happened, to be precise.

"Sigh, Shiho....your family would be upset to find you in this state."

"Sigh...do you really think calling me by 'that' would bear you any fruit."

".................."

"Aww....don't look at me like that. come here!!"

".....you never really take anything seriously, huh?"

"Nope!"

With that. The ever so mysterious being, The Cheater. Got even more mysterious. While the small god, Tet, gets snuggled by the older looking female atop the Warbeast's embassy.

.................................

"Sigh...."

".....Sigh..."

The two siblings sat on their beds, on their usual spots. Lazing off on video games the moment they had arrived in the castle. Not the type of planning they were thinking about before their meeting started.

"Sora!? Even Shiro? What are you guys doing? The most important game in our lives is happening! What are you two lazing off for?!-Ahh!! Stop! S-Stop throwing pillows at me!"

Steph suddenly mouthed out at the two, as expected. Normally they would ignore her lectures and tell her off, but today......today they didn't feel like doing anything.

"Uwahh....I guess I should leave it to you guys....you're probably done with all your plans, right?."

After realizing that the two of them were too mentally stressed, she didn't feel like talking too much to them and decided to back off. She knew the shock that they felt when they saw Kaira talking with the ambassador, because she felt it too.

Betrayal.

It was a very obvious answer. An ally of yours is caught talking with the enemy. Nothing else could be said about it.

But, Kaira? She doesn't seem like the person to betray someone close to her. She seemed liked the person that will go down to hell together with you if she can.

She kept a lot of secrets but she was someone Blank has considered a friend.

"Friend, huh? So much for that."

It was already night time. The two of them were still spending their time on their consoles. Sora's recent words were probably the only words that had been spoken since they had come to the castle.

It was such a pain for them to act accordingly in front of the enemy while they were mentally stressed.

"So....then that's it?"

Time suddenly froze. This alarmed Sora and Shiro but they had recalled, that that voice and that power only belonged to one person. Tet.

"I suppose you were the type to not even challenge a game that is impossible."

"Blank doesn't lose."

Sora quietly muttered. Making the God grin a little.

"Do you know why I'm here?"

He playfully spinned around using his heels and took a look at the night sky.

"You still wanted to challenge us, thus you don't want us to lose right here, right?"

"As perceptive as ever."

Tet gave a rather cold smile, but since he had his backed turned Sora didn't see it.

"Ahh. But don't worry. We don't intend to lose anytime sooner."

Sora forced a smile which the God returned in kind.

"Well.....you might win against that...but I don't think you'll win against 'that'.............but who knows?"

He gave of a rather carefree vibe. Mysteries keep popping one after the other. There seems to be no sign of calmness in this ray of disarray.

With that, after being suspected of being a traitor. Kaira cheerfully walked into her room like the usual. Even greeting Steph who was about to sleep, leaving her in a quick daze until morning.

[A/N

Ahhhh!!!! Sorry for the late update! I actually made one already but when I read it, I wasn't satisfied with it. So....I completely rewrote it! BTW If it's not obvious, the fanfic would probably end in 17 more or less. But I intend to make a side story. About the side story. I would rather not talk about it since it's kind of a big spoiler.
