Stage 8 : WhEre dOEs The sUn riSe aGAin?

Patience is a virtue......or so they say.

Whether it is....or it is not. Jibril was running out of it, fast....

The reason? A silver haired girl running around the castle like a child in a playground.

She watched from the corner of a wall at her target...

Kanukanaira, The Cheater

She narrowed her eyes at her, watching from afar how she makes......lunch?

"What is with those strange ingredients? Is she planning on poisoning masters? *Gasp*! I must warn my masters!"

The Flugel proceeded to run of to her masters to tell them a story they'll never believe.

If you are asking why she was so paranoid of Kaira, she had a pretty good reason.

...........................

"We think she's planning on sabotaging us, so....Jibril, can you follow her around for a while?"

Sora told her with a straight face as he held her shoulders, while Shiro couldn't help but let a small bit of laughter spew out of her mouth to which the Flugel did not notice.

Shiro can still recall the memory before a high speed Flugel crashed into their bed, making Sora fall off, but good thing he still managed to hold onto the controller and deal the final blow to the enemy in his game.

...........................

After Jibril had vanished from the kitchen, Kaira proceeded to throw ingredients into a huge stock pot.

Steph was also watching from afar, very curious to what a mythical being is going to have for lunch.

She decided that Kaira was someone who probably won't mind someone watching her cook so she approached her.

Kaira seemed rather busy. Not even acknowledging the presence of the red head.

"Um....Kaira-san......what are you cooking?"

She politely asked, at the same time Kaira had been dumping inedible objects into the stock pot. Glass bottles, paper, saw dust, iron fillings.....and a lot of objects that deserved to be in a hardware store rather than a kitchen.

As she finally noticed Steph, Steph removed the surprised look on her face and replaced it with her usual smile.

"Kaira-san......what are you making?"

Steph changed her question a little, unconciously. It did seem to fit the scene more than her last sentence.

"That's a S-E-C-R-E-T."

She said with a tune much more playful than usual.

Steph went back a few steps as Kaira uncovered the pot.

A thin glossy book came out from the pot.

"HOW TO COOK DELICOUS MEALS UNDER 15 MINUTES"

Steph was........petrified?

.............................

After leaving the kitchen, Steph heard a loud knock on the door. The knock was very loud and as if the person was in a hurry or was very rude.

"Coming!!! I'm coming!"

'Kurami Zell' was probably the last face Steph expected to see when she opened the gate.

After ordering a brief meeting with the Kings of Imanity, she seemed to be looking around the castle more often than one should, considering it wasn't her first time entering it.

"Hmm......is she here, Fil?"

She asked the blonde elf behind her, and to her discontent shook her head in disagreement.

Sora and Shiro were completely ignoring her. Focusing about 99% of their concentration on their consoles and the remaining 1% on the person that wanted to meet them. This was of no problem either since Kurami seemed to have gotten in the castle for a much different reason than what she had told Steph since she didn't even consider giving out a topic for Blank to respond to. However, the one getting stressed at how wrongly their meeting was going was Steph.

"Hey! You three!!! What do you guys think your doing? Kurami, what did you want to do here? And you two!!! Aren't you supposed to act respectable in front of your guests?!"

"............Nii...I finally beat your high score....."

"What!? Are you serious? No!!!! One less thing to brag about!!!"

Sora fell down to the floor with shame befalling upon him for having his sister break an unbreakable high score on PacMan: 91 820 293 points to which Shiro broke by adding a million and three hundred thousand.

Steph's complexion was turning whiter for every passing second until Kurami said something to the two.

"Finally! Someone else who takes this meeting seriously!"

Steph shouted in her thoughts.

"I've heard news that you've gotten the help of someone......peculiar."

"Does she know about Kaira-san? This will be quite troublesome if this information is known to Elven Gard! Sora should be careful about the words coming out of their mouth."

Steph silently worried, but realised that Sora would somehow find a way to slip out of this situation.

"You mean Kaira? She's in the toilet, throwing up what she cooked a while ago. She told us that the food tasted EXCACTLY like paper with ink and the outside texture was like eating glossy cardboard......now that you think of it.....what excactly did she cook?"

"Ahh.....I see. So now was a bad time to come see her. Fil, we're going back tomorrow. You three, make sure she doesn't food poison herself for tommorow!"

As Kurami and Fil prepared to leave the castle, and Steph was preparing to shout at the two kings about freely giving out valuable information to the enemy....

"Wait!!! You're looking for me?"

She seemed to have appeared out of nowhere and was now striking a 'cool' pose.

"Ahh....so you heard us all the way from the upstairs bathroom...."

Sora retorted, making sure to inform her of their knowledge of the little incident she had.

Her complexion started to pale and sweat fickled down her face in embarassment.

"Umm.....no......I-I was taking a bath.....in the bathroom..."

"......You totally convinced us.....Kaira..."

Shiro simple gave a thumbs up at the older female, embarrassing her more.

Her face started to redden in embarassment, when Kurami asked a question aimed directly to Kaira.

"Kanukunaira, The Cheater....Is that your full name?"

"YES! AND STOP CALLING ME CHEATER! I'VE NEVER CHEATED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!"

This small burst of temper simply made Kurami laugh, coldy, and Steph giggle. While Blank stood there silently, not looking like they wanted to join this conversation at all.

"Well moving on. You probably haven't joined those two's side, so why not join mine?"

The serious, over confident expression on her face hasn't changed at all since her last defeat.

"Why would I......"

"Why would you want to join Elven Guard? Simple. Because we will save Imanity from other races. We will be under the protection of the elves and....."

"No, I was going to ask you why would I care about Imanity?"

Kaira's usually playful tone was immeadietly replaced by a cold hard one.

Her words pierced through Kurami's very soul. Words that she did not expect to hear came out from the person she least expected for her to say.

Sora just sneered, he had expected her to say something along those lines but he didn't expect her to say it so bluntly.

Kurami swallowed a forming lump on her throat and proceeded to her plan.

"That is why I, Kurami Zell, will challenge you to a game where your alliance will be decided."

"A game huh? What kind?"

Kaira's tone still remained to her intimidating one, a tone that reeks of total confidence, it was a tone that in itself draws a fine line between it's speaker and the reciever.

"Are you asking me too decide? How confident of you...."

She snaps her fingers and Fil hands her a wrapped scroll.

" "SUN RISE" will be the name of the game. The rules are, The first player will answer 'Yes' or 'No'. If the first player answers 'Yes' then they have predicted that the Sun will rise from the West in the next 24 hours and answering 'No' will have predicted against it. Also the second player will automatically use the option that has still not been answered and not having an answer will automatically be a forfeit. The proposer of the game will also determine who will take the roles of player one and two."

She had a confident look on her face. The reason for this was her long research in the library of Elven Gard. Apparently Kanukanaira can only manipulate objects that is within a one kilometre radius or any object she has touched. Having the Sun as your betting object, something she couldn't have possibly touched was the most vital thing in this game.

Kaira, gave a small smile and confidently asked:

"What's in it for me when I win?"

A vein started to pop on her forehead. The overconfidence coming from her opponent who was obviously defeated was still acting high.

"Then, you can have me do whatever you want!"

Before Fil can say anything to stop Kurami from betting her own life, she already had. Kurami saw the worried expression Fil was making and turned back to her to give her a reassuring smile.

"Well, no need to worry since in a couple minutes I'll be taking my victory since as Player number one, I answer 'Yes'!"

Kurami pointed to the balcony where it can be clearly seen that the Sun was indeed rising.

She took a step out the balcony to see the rays of the sun come out of the horizon. She only needed a couple more seconds before the actual Sun could make its appearance.

"So....this is what defeating an unbeatable foe feels like! With this! I can even rule Elven Guard! With her on my side I could even defeat all the races!"

"Calm down.....you haven't won yet..."

Sora came to the balcony, leaning on the entrance of the balcony. He was pointing to something behind her, but what?

She turned back to see that the Sun have not moved since she turned around. She continued to stare at it.

Seconds......

A minute......

Almost half an hour has passed and the Sun didn't move an inch towards the horizon.

"Why? How?"

Tears flowed down her eyes, she wasn't crying because she lost her freedom. No, the thought hasn't even crossed her mind. What she was crying about was how she had failed her friend, Fil, again.

Fil came running to Kurami's side. While Sora only stared at the two crying girls.

Their cries are silence the moment they sensed that Kaira was in front of them.

"How? I-I've planned this for nights. Don't tell me you have actually touched the Sun before?"

"How about I give you a simple lesson in Astronomy. The Sun moves across the sky not because it moves around Disboard but we move around it. So what will happen if I stop Disboard from moving around it?"

She gave a cruel smile as she squatted down to their level.

"Then the Sun will not move across the sky...."

Kurami was beyond shocked at the fatal hole in her plan which she had failed to realize.

"Now....as for my prize."

"Kaira-san! You....."

Steph was immeadietly stopped by Sora as she tried to change Kaira's mind.

"Goodbye, Fil...."

Kurami wipes off her tears and does the same to the blonde elf.

"No! I want to be with you! I'll stay by your side! Kanukanaira, will you take me as a slave together with her?"

"Slave? Why would I need a slave? I was just gonna ask Fil how to cook....since........"

She was back to her normal tone. The two losers were overjoiced at her words and immediately hugged each other.

"Oi! No slacking off! I'm getting hungry! And I sometimes get moody when that happens....sorry if I was a bit mean earlier...."

Kaira silently whispered the last part.

Fil broke of their hug and took a bow in front of Kurami, after letting her know that she'll be in the kitchen for a while.
