Chapter 5: London
It's been rough the past few weeks. Cornelia and I were on a motorized ship on to the city of London in the country of England.
This boat though, it's quite fascinating. Apparently it runs on something called an engine. A large one in fact. I'm surprised that the Empire hasn't created a machinery such as this. The Empire has created weapons capable of automatic fire, but cannot seem to construct something as marvelous as this.
We soon pull into the harbor. I believe the residents called it the river Thames. We got off and started to make our way into the city of London.
Cornelia: Was it wise to change into different outfits than our robes?
Y/N: Of course. We must blend in and cannot blow our cover. Who could watching and listening to us?
Cornelia: I suppose. Where are we going?
Y/N: Information gathering. See what we can gather of the Brotherhood here.
Cornelia: Where do you suppose we start?
Y/N: Let's start with the local alleys. Talk to the kids. Never know what kind of information they hold.
We had head up more into the district or boroughs they called it. It was about two in the afternoon and the borough we were in was called Whitechapel. Making our way into the alleyway, we spot a few kids playing around with a ball and one of them was a brunette with a ponytail. She wore a green dress and her ponytail was braided.
She wasn't playing with the kids, but was merely watching them as if they were their own. She seems to be a good person to start with.
Y/N: Excuse me.
???: Oh, ello there mister.
Y/N: Hello. My name is Y/N and this is my partner, Cornelia. We were wondering if you could tell us some information.
???: What kind of information?
Y/N: Something along the lines of a "Brotherhood."
Her cheerful look changes to that of a serious one. She looks around then gestures us to follow her. I glance at Cornelia who glances at me and shrugs.
Seeing as there was no other choice, we followed her.
???: Who are you people really?
Y/N: Well now, we don't prying ears to listen in. Let us move to a secure place, miss?
Clara: Clara. Clara O'Dea.
Y/N: Tell me. What year is it?
Clara: 1870. Why?
Y/N: Just wondering. (thoughts) Hmm. Seems it's been two years the Assassins here have defeated the leader here, Starrick.
She had lead us to a secluded area that was safe for us to talk.
Clara: So? What do you want with the Assassins?
Y/N: You know, you are very smart for a girl such as your age.
Clara: Had to learn somehow and get by after mum died. Now, answer my question earlier.
Cornelia: Well, we've come seeking help. We don't want to go into too much details. Never know who's listening.
Clara: Suppose you're right. ...Seek a man named Henry Green. He runs a shop somewhere here in Whitechapel. Don't know where.
Y/N: Thank you for your time miss O'Dea. Come along, Cornelia.
Cornelia: Right away!
After turning the corner, still in the alleyway, we started to climb the building and started to run along it, away from prying eyes.
We ended up climbing this warehouse with a smokestack nearby.
Y/N: Right then. Where is this Henry Green?
I used my Eagle Vision and looked around the area. I didn't spot a gold color, but I saw a few blue colored persons. Must mean the police. I deactivated the ability when I turned around because I heard a thump.
We turn around to see a tan-skinned man with his white hood up. His style was similar to that of some of the tribal gear back in the Empire. Well, not really. His outfit was mostly white, but had streaks of gold with a single gold arm guard on his left arm which had blue ropes wrapped around it. He also had a red sash wrapped around his waist, with a ribbon going down the center. He also had a blue scarf wrapped on the side of his outfit as well.
???: Blonde hair, blue eyes. You must be Cornelia. (looks to Y/N) Peculiar. Silver-grey hair and golden yellow eyes. Very rare traits. You must be Y/N. Heard you were looking for me.
Cornelia: W-Who are you?
Henry: Jayadeep Mir. But most people call me Henry. Henry Green.
Y/N: Well, Mr. Green. Since you already know our names, I believe you belong to the English Brotherhood here, do you not?
Henry: I do in fact belong here. My question is, how are you aware of the Assassin's existence?
Y/N: (pulls out Creed symbol) Because we are apart of the Creed ourselves. You see, we come seeking help.
Henry: Well, which country do you two belong two?
Y/N: Are you aware of the land called, the Empire?
Henry: I-I thought that place was a myth. So it was true. Pioneers from the Italian Renaissance did travel to a land named the Empire.
Y/N: Yes. The reason we come seeking help is that we discovered a parchment that had detailed what's left of the Templars here are transferring over since the leader, Starrick, has been assassinated.
Henry: May I see the parchment?
Nodding, I take out the piece of paper from my bag and hand it over to Mr. Green. He studies it and his face turns to a look of grim.
Henry: I see. Meet me at the clock tower, Big Ben. Midnight. I shall bring my associates and we will talk there.
Cornelia: Of course sir.
Henry understood that we would meet him later so he leapt of the tower, doing a leap of faith and landing into the hay cart below.
Cornelia: So? What now?
Y/N: I believe it's best that we explore right now. It's around 2:30 in the afternoon so I think we should map out the area.
Cornelia: Which borough should I head to?
Y/N: Head towards Lambeth. The giant clock tower should be in view. Remember to meet there at midnight. I shall head towards Westminster.
Cornelia: Is that where the palace is?
Y/N: The palace is in the borough below Westminster. Time is of the essence. We should be off.
And with that we took off and went our separate ways. I traveled around Westminster and took around the sights.
It was a bit like the Capital, but a lot more dirtier and a lot less corpses around. There are gang members around. Apparently the ones wearing green are known as the Rooks and are led by two individuals. Simply known as the Frye twins, but mostly I heard it's run by the brother. Never got their names. Seems they've disciplined their members well into not giving out too much information.
The ones wearing red are the Blighters. They were once the ones feared on the streets of London, but it seems since Starrick has fallen, as well as the Blighters' boss, Ross, has fallen as well, most of the former Blighters joined up with the Rooks. Some of them stayed behind as their prides as original members still reside within them.
As I walk around, I kept noticing a man in a woman's outfit. He had an oddly large mustache. When I turned into the alleyway and hid, he followed me.
???: Where did that odd man run off to? I swore he went down this way.
When I was about to move, another man came up behind him. He wore a top hat and had a trench coat on. He had a black leather, steel gauntlet on his left hand.
???2: And where are you off to, Freddie?
Frederick: It's Fredrick Abberline to you! What do you want Jacob?
Jacob: Why is it wrong to check up on a friend? You're so cold Freddie.
Fredrick or "Freddie" as this Jacob character likes to call him grumbles. It seems that Jacob here is a joker and likes to mess around. Then Jacob's face changes to one of seriousness.
Jacob: So what's got your nerves going on about here?
Fredrick: I could have sworn that someone who is not a Londoner does not belong here.
Jacob: Well...that seems normal.
Fredrick: Thing is, he had odd traits.
Jacob: Like what?
Fredrick: Is silver-grey hair and golden yellow eyes normal?
Jacob: No. That's not normal at all. In fact, there aren't really people with those kinds of traits at all.
Fredrick: Exactly!
Y/N: (thoughts) Shit. They're on to me. Could they be Templars?
I had no time to dilly dally so I took off running down the direction the other pathway the alleyway led down to.
As I made my way out, I bumped into a woman. She wore a black heavy coat and was sporting the same gauntlet as the man named Jacob. The difference was her outfit was more to her style and she had a red cape.
???3: Sorry about that. Wasn't looking where I was going.
Y/N: Oh no, my apologies my lady. Y/N is my name. And you are?
Evie: Evie. Evie Frye. It's a pleasure to meet you.
Y/N: Again Miss Frye, I apologize.
Evie: I can't help but notice. Your eyes and hair color are unique. In fact, not many people have these or don't have them all.
Y/N: Yes. My mother has an...interesting background. Anyway, I must be off now. I have a colleague to get to.
Evie: I suppose. It was nice to meet you, Y/N.
Y/N: Likewise, Miss Frye.
Evie: (smiles) Please. Call me Evie.
Y/N: (smiles back) I shall be off, Evie. Have a good day.
Evie: To you as well.
3rd POV
Y/N walks off and Evie stares at the silver-grey haired boy. He was interesting to say the least. Yet, when she looked into his eyes, she could see someone who saw bloodshed at a young age. Quite strange as the boy was only seventeen.
Stopping to dwell on that fact, Evie goes down the alleyway that Y/N had come from. Turning the corner, she finds Fredrick Abberline and her brother, Jacob Frye, arguing with each other.
Evie: And what's going on here?
Fredrick: Your brother stopped me from finding a potential criminal!
Jacob: In all fairness, he can't just assume anyone. And so what if his traits are strange? There are a lot stranger worlds out there.
Evie: Like the Empire?
Jacob: Ah, that place is just a myth. What rubbish that is.
Evie: Father believed it existed.
Jacob: Father this, father that. You know, you have been yapping a lot about father lately.
Evie: Never mind that. What kind of traits does this person have?
Jacob: Does silver-grey hair and golden yellow eyes ring a bell?
Evie: Wait a second...
Timeskip
Y/N had reconvened with Cornelia at a docking area for boats in the borough of Lambeth.
Cornelia: You seem troubled sir.
Y/N: I fear we may have Templars on our tail.
Cornelia: Already? Didn't you say not to attract attention?
Y/N: These weren't ordinary people. They saw me as a suspicious person as soon as they saw me. What time is it?
Cornelia: Almost eleven thirty sir.
Y/N: Right then. We should start climbing the tower now. Come along.
We started to move to giant clock tower that stood above the rest of the buildings here in London. Truly a beautiful sight to behold. The climb took us awhile. About an hour to get to the top.
As soon as we got to the top, we heard noises of something being reeled in. There was a spear attached to the ceiling. Seconds later, three people come up and it was the same people. Mr. Green, Miss Frye, and that man, Jacob.
Evie: Y/N?
Y/N: Miss Frye.
Jacob: You must be the one that Freddie was talking about.
Henry: Enough. You wish to speak with us?
Y/N: Yes. As it said in the parchment, what's left of the Templars here will transfer over to the Empire.
Jacob: Them Empire. (scoffs) Rubbish.
Evie: Jacob! Ignore him.
Y/N: I don't mind.
Jacob: Let's say it does exist. Let's say we do help you. You need to do something for us.
Cornelia: And what would that be?
Jacob: Hmm. What do you guys want to give them?
Evie: Well, there is still a popular figure of the Templars in the House of Parliament.
Jacob: Perfect. There you go. Assassinate the Templar figure and then we'll talk. Does that sound like a deal?
Jacob extends his hand and I eye it. My answer was...
-----------
I literally ended up falling asleep while writing this. Kill me now. Anyway, hope you all enjoyed the chapter and sorry for the cliffhanger. Stay safe out there.
