Chapter 4: Assassination, Iokal
Y/N POV
I was in me and Lubbock's room, drawing some plans for designs of this "Phantom Blade." I had recently came across these plans before leaving the hideout, discovering it on a Assassin corpse. From what I can infer, in the "other world," or the other land, it is around of the time period called, the Industrial Revolution they called it.
The Phantom Blade was made about 100 years ago there, in a place called France. At the same time, a rebellion was going on over there as well, familiar. From looking at the plans, it silently shoots out knives. I would have to put in a new blade each time.
As I was drawing the plans, I was called out of the room by Akame.
Y/N: Yes?
Akame: The boss said to go with Tatsumi and Mine.
Y/N: Alright then. Anything else?
Akame: (blushes slightly) N-No. B-Bye.
She takes off in the other direction, leaving me puzzled. What an odd girl. I put on my Assassin robes and I head to the Capital to meet up with Tatsumi and Mine.
When I arrived, she was having a fit.
Mine: Where the hell were you!?
Y/N: Sorry. I was drawing plans for a modification for my hidden blade. A long range mechanism for silent kills.
Tatsumi: So what are we going to be doing?
Mine: Information gathering!
As we walked through the city, Tatsumi was looking around, gazing at the sights. Sure, the Capital is a sight to behold, but under that exterior as an Empire rotten to the core, looking to be cleansed.
Tatsumi: Now that I get a good look of it, there are a lot of people with sour looks on their faces, huh?
Mine: No wonder of they are a reign of terror and there's a recession.
Tatsumi: Are you guys sure it's okay for us to walk around in broad daylight so openly?
Y/N: As long as you don't have a wanted poster, you should be fine. Not unless there is someone who can recognize you. Few people will be able to recognize but there's a low chance for that as I've been considered dead for at least eight years.
Mine: Now that that's cleared, we have a mission to complete.
Y/N: I have an informant that I've been meaning to talk to. An old friend. Meet you back at the base?
Mine: Fine. Just don't be late.
Y/N: Trust me. I'm never late.
I left the two and went down to the slums, towards a bar to be exact.
My informant's name is Jared. He owned a medium-sized bar. It was well decent. Some of the Capital guards like to come here on their off days.
I entered and found a few guards sitting around. I kept my hood on and pulled up a bar stool. Soon after, Jared comes up in front of me.
Jared: So, what'll it be?
Y/N: "Paridas."
His cheerful expression changes to one of seriousness. He extends his hand out and I fish two gold coins out of my pocket, putting it in his hand.
Jared: Word has it that ever since Ogre died, your sister has been on the prowl for whoever's responsible.
Y/N: Anything else?
Jared: Yeah. Recently, General Esdeath had gone up north, right?
Y/N: Yeah? What about her?
Jared: She's already defeated at least half the resistance up there. It won't be long till she's finished up there and she heads back down here to kill off Night Raid.
Y/N: Yes. Bad news indeed.
Jared: Speaking of which, how's Leone?
Y/N: She seems to be quite well. Why do you ask?
Jared: If you see her again, tell her to come visit anytime.
Y/N: Sure. Thanks for the business.
I get up to leave and walk towards the entrance. As I did, I bumped into someone.
Y/N: Sorry about that. Wasn't looking where I was going.
???: No, no. It's fine. It's my fault as well. I should have been looking where I was going as well.
Looking up, I see my sister. Shit. Didn't expect to see her so soon. I looked down and saw a dog.
Y/N: Cute dog here. What's his name?
Seryu: Oh, I call him Koro. But he's actually the Teigu, Hekatonkheires. My brother would have loved him. He loved animals.
Y/N: Do you mind telling me his name? Sorry if i'm prying into sensitive information.
Seryu: No, it's fine. His name is Y/N. He's...gone at the moment.
Y/N: On a trip?
Seryu: Y-Yeah.
She seemed hesitant when she that. Did my "death" hit her hard?
Y/N: I may be wrong, but did he pass? If so, i'm sorry for your loss.
Seryu: T-Thank you.
Y/N: I am busy at the moment. Again, I apologize for the ruckus I caused.
Seryu: It's fine. Have a good day citizen!
Leaving in the other direction, I went back home. But I glanced back at her one last time. Sorry sis. I can't show myself to you. I'm sorry.
Seryu POV
That guy...he seemed familiar. His voice too. Just who is he?
Koro: (barks)
Seryu: What is it? Do you want to munch on the corpses of evil doers?
Koro: (barks in approval)
Seryu: Alright. We'll head back to the barracks after I talk to Jared. Come on.
Y/N POV
Back at Night Raid HQ
I arrived back and Akame was already at the door, hauling a dead Danger Beast.
Akame: Your back? How was it?
Y/N: Eventful.
Akame: How so?
Y/N: ...I saw my sister again. It pained me not to tell her the truth. She wouldn't handle it. Where's Najenda? I have pressing matters to talk to her about.
Akame: She should be at her chair. Is there something wrong?
Y/N: It's just there may be something that may interfere with our plans in the future.
As I made my way to the meeting room, I couldn't help think how far Esdeath could come. From what the files I have read about her, she's dangerous. She took out my cousin's eye out. Not only that, she posses an ice producing Teigu, the Demon's Extract.
It seems she has no limits in producing, but she is quite proficient in her use of it. Capable of constructing ice weapons out of it. Even creating an ice cavalry out of it as well. I entered the meeting room and Najenda was in a thinking positions, sitting in her chair. When I walked in, she perked up.
Najenda: Y/N. What is it?
Y/N: Esdeath may be coming back sooner. She's already eliminated half of the northern resistance.
Najenda: I'm not surprised, but that's quite fast. Since she left yesterday to take care of them. Anyway, we have a new target tonight.
Y/N: Who is it?
Najenda: The Prime Minister's cousin, Iokal.
Y/N: So one fat bastard after the other huh? The Brotherhood has been planning on eliminating him for some time now.
Najenda: Yes. Mine and Tatsumi are a little late, but should be coming soon. Can you round everyone up?
Y/N: (nods) Will do.
I said as I left the room, heading to where everyone was. Bulat was out in the training yard, Akame and Cornelia were in the kitchen with Leone being in the dining room, wasting herself on booze. I had to wait for Sheele as she was taking a bath. I found Lubbock being the typical pervert he was, sitting in a bush somewhere.
We all met back in the meeting room, with cousin explaining the assignment.
Najenda: There's a new request this time.
Y/N: The target is Iokal, the Prime Minister's cousin.
Cornelia: We're finally taking him out?
Y/N: Yes. Brotherhood intelligence has discovered that Iokal is in fact a Templar, meaning he must be killed. Cornelia, I'm tasking you to infiltrate the temple he is residing in.
Najenda: Since Y/N is heading with Akame and the others, we're trusting you to find any information on the Templars there. We need to know their movements.
Cornelia: Understood.
Tatsumi: What exactly did Iokal do to want him be killed?
Y/N: While he is a Templar, he uses the Minister's name to abduct girls from the Capital and beat them to death.
Najenda: His five bodyguards share the guilt in this. This is an important mission...so that means everyone will attack! Y/N, I trust you to be in charge of the mission.
Y/N: Understood, cousin. Everyone, move out!
Timeskip-Night
It was midnight now and we waiting in a secluded area as Mine was in a sniping position with Tatsumi being her bodyguard. Cornelia had already gone in and infiltrated the temple.
Leone: So Y/N, how long have you been apart of this "Brotherhood of Assassins?"
Sheele: Yes, I would like to know as well.
Y/N: ...After I found out about the corruption in the Empire and how corrupted my parents were, I couldn't stand it anymore. I started planning their deaths since I was six. It wasn't until I killed them and fled my home when I was eight. From then on, I sought the Brotherhood and gave been with them since.
Leone: Damn. Must have been tough.
Y/N: For a time. Oh, and Leone?
Leone: Yeah?
Y/N: Jared says to come visit anytime.
Leone: (blushes) H-How do y-you know that?
Y/N: He may or may not be my informant. Plus, I've visited his bar from time to time.
Lubbock: Eyes up everyone! My wires tell me they're coming!
I leap off of the tree branch and land on both feet, my right hand on the ground as I get up and unsheathe my broadsword from my back. Four of the bodyguards arrive and I grin. One of them rushes towards me and I run towards, kicking off of it and plunging my sword right through his head.
Y/N: For being masters of Imperial Fist, they were quite weak.
Leone: I know right? I was expecting more of a fight.
I look over to everyone else. Leone and Bulat had finished killing one of them. Akame was pulling her sword out of one's chest. And Sheele was cleaning the blood off the scissor as severed limbs were laying beside her.
Lubbock on the other hand didn't get anyone.
Leone: But I feel so refreshed!~
Lubbock: (pouts) I didn't even get to kill one of them. There's just not enough.
Leone: So that means half your reward goes away, huh Lubbock?
Lubbock: Ehhhh!?!?
Akame: Strange...
Y/N: There's supposed to be five of them. One of them must have taken off for Tatsumi and Mine. Let us head to the rendezvous point!
We took off for the rendezvous point. By the time we got there, Mine and Tatsumi were arguing and there was body on the ground with a hole blowing through him.
Soon after, Cornelia arrives with us and she hands me a piece of parchment. I open it and I read it.
Y/N: (mutters) Shit...
Cornelia: Is there something wrong?
Y/N: Yes...we're in deep shit now...
Timeskip-Night Raid HQ
I sat in my room and kept looking at the parchment that Cornelia had given to me. To think the main Templar forces back in this city called "London" are sending reinforcements here to help conquer this area for control.
Y/N: I may have to leave temporarily. I may need to call for help outside of the Empire.
I went into my closet, packing my things in. The question is, which Brotherhood should I go to? The French Assassin Brotherhood has fallen. The Colonial Brotherhood is all the way in the area of America, a large continent. I may have to settle with the English Brotherhood that resides in London.
I open the door and head to Najenda, telling her of my plans. Cornelia insist that she come with me, so accepted her help. As we were about to leave, Akame had stopped us.
Akame: Where are you going?
Cornelia: To request help outside the Brotherhood.
Akame: Where to?
Y/N: A land called England. In a city called London specifically. We'll be gone for awhile, but in hopes we're able to bring reinforcements.
Akame: You both will be coming back, right?
Cornelia: We will. I promise.
Y/N: Yeah...sure we will. Let us go, Cornelia.
A new problem was on the horizon. Not only that, the Templar influence here is only growing larger by the minute and we need all the help we can get.
This journey will be a long one, but let's hope we can retrieve so help after all.
