Draw not attention to oneself whenever possible.

And never compromise the Brotherhood.

These are the three tenants that I live by. Our Brotherhood lives by. It was currently day in the Empire. I had my hood up in order to blend in and not draw attention to myself. As I was walking, I bumped into a brown-haired kid with green eyes. He looked about the same age as me. Judging from his backpack, I'd say he's from the countryside. People like him are the easiest to kill.

Y/N: Hey, kid. Watch where you're going.

Brown-haired kid: S-Sorry sir! Do you know where the Imperial Garrison is? Looking to make a job here in the Empire.

Y/N: What's you're name kid?

Tatsumi: It's Tatsumi.

Y/N: I'm only going to say this once, Tatsumi. The Empire isn't as what it seems.

Tatsumi: Huh?

Y/N: You'll understand what I mean.

I leave the kid confused. Kids like him need to understand that the dream of becoming big in the Capital is all just a lie. My being a noble here is what made my understand. The scumbags that walk throughout here. I was on my way to this book shop. Owned by this guy named Lubbock. He's got some information for me on a few nobles.

I opened the shop and rung the bell, signalling for him to come to the front desk. I soon see a green haired guy, about the same age as me. This must be Lubbock.

Lubbock: Welcome to Booknight! Need something to read?

Y/N: "Nothing is true, everything is permitted."

Lubbock's cheerful face changes to that of seriousness. So this is the contact of our Brotherhood and is also a member of the Revolutionary Army splinter group, Night Raid? He doesn't seem like much, but his Teigu, Cross Tail, is a force to be reckoned with. Heard those wires are indestructible.

He leads me to a false panel in one of his bookshelves. He had two, One for Night Raid and the other for the Brotherhood. I must say, when he pressed the false panel, the door leading to the one of the Brotherhood is greater than the one for Night Raid. He leads me into a room and goes behind his desk, pulling out a picture of a young girl and her parents.

Lubbock: Night Raid's targets is this noble family. Their daughter, Aria, is prone to kidnapping people from the countryside and torturing them for fun.

Y/N: Does your boss know that your associating with us?

Lubbock: Yeah she does, but the other members don't. It's just me and her. And she would like for your organization and ours to be potential allies.

Y/N: Our goals do align. We seek the destruction of the current government now and the rebirth of a new nation. I'll have to talk with the higher ups.

Lubbock: We're attacking tomorrow night so I suggest you start planning now, Mr. Wraith.

Y/N: There was a kid from the countryside today. He's most likely to be a target. Pleasure doing business with you.

I reach into my coat and took out a bag of gold. It was a fair amount. I tossed it to him and got out of the store. There were too many people here so I couldn't climb up the buildings to get a better vantage point. Plus, the Capital increased the amount of guards that roam around so climbing would make me too suspicious.

I continued walking down the street and I spotted the same brown haired kid being led to a nearby tavern by a busty blonde girl. I believe she belongs to the slums based on the clothing she wore. I followed them inside the tavern and waited by a table and I tried listening in on their conversation. Too avoid suspicion, I called over a waitress over to order a drink. I had a high alcohol tolerance.

Waitress: What can I get you, love?

Y/N: Just give me an ale. And some bread. That'll be all.

Waitress: That'll be ten gold sir.

Y/N: Ten? When were the prices up?

Waitress: Since a few days ago.

Y/N: (takes out ten gold) Alright then. Here.

Waitress: Most appreciated!

She walks off and I start to tune in to the conversation between Tatsumi and that slut looking girl.

Blonde Girl: I've got a contact in the army. If you show him some money, right away!

Tatsumi: (takes out large bag) I see...would this be enough.

Blonde Girl: Wow!~ Definitely enough! You've got quite a bit!

Tatsumi: I was hunting risk species and getting rewards out of the way. 

Y/N: (thoughts) Hmm. Not bad, kid.

The blonde girl gets up and takes the bag of money, saying to Tatsumi that she'll get this to her so-called military contact. This kid didn't even realize that he just got swindled. A few seconds later, the waitress comes back with my ale and bread. I ate slowly and eyed Tatsumi carefully. He's good with a sword. But, judging from his experience, he's only got talent to kill Danger Beasts and not actual people.

It was turning dawn already so I head to the Estate that this Aria lived in. I climbed the nearest building, making sure no one spotted me, and I made my way in the direction the noble house was. When I arrived, a carriage was pulling up. The passengers must a young blonde haired girl who was about two years younger than me. The other one in uniform must be her personal guard, but the last person to come out was Tatsumi. Thought so, he was the next victim.

I used the ability of my dagger to make me a phantom, a ghost in a sense. I was able to phase through the fence that surrounded the manor. It seems to be one of the normal manor type homes. The front entrance is usually heavily guarded. There were two guards at the back. I can probably get in through the windows. If they are sealed, it'll make my chance getting in without any noise harder. Using the phase ability of the dagger does use a lot of stamina. Guess I'll retire for the night.

Timeskip-Next Day

The following day, I followed Tatsumi, who was escorting the daughter around as she bought things from various stores. The money she uses...it's blood money. Tatsumi stopped walking with her and looked at the various posters on the wall. Bingo. The most wanted members of Night Raid. Sheele, Bulat, a former Empire soldier, Najenda, the leader of Night Raid and a former general, and Akame, a former assassin of the Elite Seven. Gotta be honest, she does look rather cute. No...must not think about that. That will only compromise my mission. Those feelings are not needed.

I followed them back to the manor and waited until nightfall.

Timeskip-Night

It was night time now. A blood red moon and there wires overlooking the manor with people on them. 

I'll let them take care of everyone else. My only target is Aria. The raven haired girl, Akame drops from the wire along with the armored man. I'm guessing that's Bulat. I use Eagle Vision, a blessing that was passed down through my mother's side. Mother was once an Assassin, but she let the corruption get to her so I killed her.

Well most of them went inside the manor, so I guess it's time for me to go. I jump down, still using Eagle Vision to spot my target. I see outlines of red and yellow heading into the forest. That route must lead to the warehouse of the manor where they torture the countrymen. Disgusting dogs. They gain pleasure by killing those beneath them? Well, the hell's reaper is coming for them.

I use the shadows and the trees to my advantage to make my way there. Thanks to my expert training in stealth, Aria and her bodyguard weren't able to detect me. I waited by the trees and saw that Tatsumi had arrived to help. Not too long, Akame arrived to kill her target. She might be a problem should she get in my way.

This guy is good, but up against a real person...he's not going to do much. He's too green. He won't be able to kill a person. Not unless he gets the right push. But until then, he can't kill a person even if he was asked to.

I sensed another presence coming and I looked over to where it was coming from. It was that same girl that swindled Tatsumi except she now has lion ears.

Blonde Girl: That's rare for Akame, she hasn't finished them off yet. ...Wait, huh? ...Oh, geez...how unlucky can that lad get.

Y/N: The fact that you were able to swindle him.

Blonde Girl: Whoa! Who are you!?

Y/N: Some people call me the Wraith.

Blonde Girl: As in the guy who just fades by the time their opponents see them and when they see you they're already dead?

Y/N: Yes. Now of you excuse me, I have a noble to kill.

Blonde Girl: Okay then. I'm going to stop my friend from killing that lad there.

Y/N: Do what you want.

Leone: Name Leone by the way. What's yours?

Y/N: Those who earn my trust may learn my name.

I then leave her be, walking past Akame who was about to kill me, but is stopped by Leone. Tatsumi looked overjoyed before he was able to notice the dead look in my eyes. As I got progressively closer to Aria, she grew scared. She feared me. Good.

I unsheathe my sword and was about to swing it until Tatsumi puts his blade up against my neck.

Y/N: What are you doing?

Tatsumi: You're going to kill her too...aren't you?

Y/N: She has a price on her head. She needs to die.

Tatsumi: So you're just going to kill an innocent person!?

Leone could be heard laughing behind us.

Leone: Lad, you think she's innocent? How about you try looking in that warehouse. Hey Mr. Wraith, you mind watching her so she doesn't escape?

Y/N: I get to kill her. Understood?

Leone and Akame look at each other before looking back at me and nodding to agreeing to my arrangement. 

I bring the noble girl closer and whisper into her ear, scarring her.

Y/N: (whisper) Be thankful you get to live longer, but after this...you die by my hand. Am I clear?

She gives fearful nod as Leone walks up to the warehouse door and destroys it. The young man was now exposed to the true horror of the Empire. He even encountered some of his dead friends that he was looking for. He was angry to say the least. He unsheathed his blade and walked towards Aria but I stood in his way.

Tatsumi: Get out of the way...

Y/N: This is my target...not yours.

Tatsumi: I have to be the one to kill her...

Y/N: And why is that?

Tatsumi: Don't you get it? She killed my friends!

Y/N: The only reason why you wish to kill her is because you are blinded by rage. You won--

Tatsumi: Yes I can!

Y/N: Then if I told you to kill your own parents and people you consider family, would you do it? If you were told to kill those who killed many or were simply put in jail for a simple crime?

Tatsumi paused. I was right. This kid can't kill no matter what. I look at her with my dull golden eyes and she stares at them with fear. I swing my simple steel claymore that I had, lopping her head off.

I was about to leave until Leone stops me.

Leone: Y'know, you should join us. You're skills could prove useful to us.

Y/N: Our goals may align, mine are to simply establish a powerful government, one that all of us can live peacefully. Joining you would simply break the tenants I live by.

Leone: Well you've already seen what we look like soooo?

Before she could finish, I turn myself invisible and leave. Night Raid. Truly a perfect organization to test my skills on.
