Josh's PoV
I yawned as I sat down on the couch and grabbing the controller, opening the television in process. It's currently 9 in the morning and the kitten is still sleeping somehow.
I laid on one of the cushions as I continued to switch between the channels, and all of a sudden I felt something furry rub again my leg. I looked down to see a tabby sitting on the rug that's on the floor with a small smile, so I patted the spot next to me to signal him to sit down next to me.
"Hey there Simon, had a good sleep?" I asked as he jumped up and sat next to me, hugging a purple cushion. The same red lights flashed around him, so now he was in his normal form.
"It was amazing. I haven't slept so well in a long while-" He said, stretching his arms and yawned.
The peaceful moment was ruined by my phone shaking on the side table near the couch, since it was playing the music of my ringtone. I groaned as I picked it up without looking at the caller's ID, clicking the 'accept call' button.
"Hey Josh! How's settling in your apartment been? You forgot to call me by the way..." Tobi excitedly said, making me realise how I didn't call him yesterday.
"Oh yeah about that... Sorry about not calling you. I've been busy about something." I explained sheepishly, looking at Simon although he couldn't see me through the call.
"It's fine. So what were you busy about-" His sentence was cut short by the doorbell ringing, but I thought I didn't invite anyone over?
I looked at Simon and pointed in direction where his room was, and he followed walking inside his room, then quietly closing the door afterwards.
I walked to the door and opened it with a confused look, then somehow Tobi was standing there with a grin. He also had a pet cage that's similar to the one Simon was in yesterday, and a little kitten was inside it. Wait oh yeah Tobi had adopted a kitten hybrid, which goes by the name Vik! How did I forgot about that...?
"Hey there Tobs, what brings you here?" I said with a welcoming smile, as he gave me a bro hug.
"I wanted to see how well you're doing with your new apartment! I brought Vik here too if you didn't notice, he said he wanted to visit you again after last time!" He exclaimed in that cheerful voice, as he walked in and sat the cage down on the carpet.
He opened the cage and the kitten climbed out, looking at the surroundings. After that Simon quietly came out of his room without me knowing, all I heard was a happy long purr.
Red lights and yellow lights flashed from both sides respectively, as I saw Vik in his normal form with a surprised and unsure expression, as Simon was the first to speak.
"Vik... Is that you?" Simon asked, probably not believing this is real. I wonder how they knew each other?
"Simon?" Vik asked back, as they both nodded at each other's question. They were quickly together in a hug, as if they know each other... I wonder if it's true?
I let them have their own time, as Tobi and I went over and sat on the opposite sides of seats for the island in the kitchen, since we needed to chat about stuff.
Simon's PoV
No way... There's no way that the black, brown and white calico kitten hybrid in front of me is Star...
I released him from the hug as I smiled happily, we haven't met for at least one cat year! I looked up at his owner, so he just gave me a warm smile back.
I switched back to my kitten form, and trotted back into my room again. Yellow lights flashed behind me and I heard light stepping sounds that were following me, so I'll assume Vik was behind me.
We walked in as I closed the door with my paw afterwards, as I gave him a grin, since we can have private time to catch up with what has happened to each other.
"Hey there Minter, we haven't met in a long time~" Vik said in our hybrid language, so for humans it only sounds like meows and purrs.
"True that Star, but I'm glad to see you again~" I purred back in the same language, as he nodded and started licking his fur to keep himself clean.
Vik was a Calico kitten hybrid that had black, brown and white fur, with raven black hair that has a streak of yellow in it. He had a mark of star on his right leg that was somehow formed from the hits and scars of our previous abusive owner, so that's why we gave him this nickname.
"So... How did you do with your new owner?" I asked, trying to start a casual conversation.
"He was nice! His name's Tobi by the way, he at least loves cuddles unlike that old twat!" Vik said in a calm voice which changed into an angry mutter, getting a bit pissed at the thought of our old owner.
"Calm down Vik, he's never gonna be able to touch us now, at least I hope..." I mumbled, looking at him with a hopeful smile.
"How about your new owner?" He asked with curiosity, as I thought about yesterday and today's events.
"He's very nice, at least for the days that I've been here..." I meowed, as I knew that we should never judge one by our first week here.
"You two done purring yet?" Josh shouted outside of the room, as I meowed in reply.

Josh's PoV
"Do you know what the purring means Tobs?" I asked the younger one in front of me, as I signed waiting for them to come out.
"It's probably the language they used to talk, I've saw Vik talk with the neighbour's dog once using that language..." Tobi replied, shrugging and looked at me confused.
"Why didn't you tell me you adopted a hybrid? I could've at least helped you with something." He asked in a rather unhappy voice.
"Look Tobi, it's not because I don't trust you or anything, it's purely because I was busy yesterday." I explained truthfully, hoping that he would trust me.
"I trust you Josh, but you'll need further help with taking care of them." Tobi said seriously, then looked at the ground with a smile.
I looked down to see Vik rubbing his fur against Tobi's right leg for attention, and Tobi patted his head gently, notifying him that he got his full attention.
I looked to my left to see Simon sitting there with a curious expression, staring at me for something I guess. He walked over and curled his tail around my left leg, and pawed my jeans with his claws.
(A/N If you didn't notice, both Simon and Vik are in their kitten form)
I lifted him up onto the island as Tobi did the same with Vik, and they sat down quietly, as if they wanted us to continue our conversation. I just nodded for them to continue whatever they were talking about, so now they jumped off the island and went back to meowing and purring again on the floor.

Hey there, Flame here and I'm sorry this came out later than planned. I've no excuses for it and I'm sorry. By the way if you didn't get what I meant by hybrid language, each type of hybrids have their own one, but all of the hybrids know one same language too. So for cats it sounds like meows and purrs, and for dogs it sounds like barks and howls.
Anyways that was a long explanation, but till the next chapter, fire on!
