Zak yawned, glancing at the clock. It read 12 P.M. He opened the fridge lazily, frowning when he saw there was nothing interesting to eat. With a huff, the boy made a mental note to go to the store soon. (like that'll ever happen-)
He kept looking through the fridge, opening and closing it multiple times as if the food would magically appear. When it didnt, he huffed again and went over to the pantry.
(Pantry='Larder'(?) to some, I have no idea if that's true or if I even spelled it right, so lemme explain since I've heard some people dont know what it is-
a pantry here in america, at least in my state, is a smallish room in a house that stores food that doesnt need to be cold.)
Turning his tired gaze back and forth along anything edible, Zak settled on bread. Just bread, nothing to go with it. He turned around with the bag-full of bread, about to walk out, when he walked into someone.
Gulping back a yelp, he glared at the person, despite not yet knowing who they were. Zak didnt turn the light on, so the only light seeping into the room was from the kitchen, allowing the shadows to set themselves easily on them.
Squinting, Zak noticed the person had brown eyes, the color so warm it almost looked like amber. It instantly clicked in Zaks head. Or at least, he hoped it did.
"Vincent?" He asked, and the figure instantly stepped aside, allowing the light to flood his face.
"Oh! Um, sorry about that." Vincent rolled his eyes at himself, a grin on his face despite his effort to squash it.
"That's okay, I guess," Zak acted innocent as Vincent faked a hurt expression. "What's got you in such a giggly mood?"
Vincent's eyes widened. In the darkness, even Zak could tell he was considering telling the truth or lying.
"You'll see, sometime soon."
For some reason those words sent chills down Zak's spine, as if someone was breathing on his neck in the winter.
Shrugging, he started forwards again, thinking, as he ate his bread. It wasnt long until he grew bored of it, putting it back quickly and walking into the main room.
Darryl sat infront of Vincent, his eyes wide and face red. They were talking, and Zak wished he had realized sooner so he could eavesdrop.
"-says no?" Darryl asked something, worried. Then, his eyes wandered.
"Oh! Zak! Um, how much of that did you hear?"
filler chapter bc I'm at school ahahahah
any guesses as to what they were talkin' about?
