Chapter 5: Catching Up

Waking up, a soft pain shot through your ankle as you cringe. As your vision came to, you could see bandages around your wounds, and a handmade cast around your ankle. Your mind went blank, not quite remembering how you got these wounds. That is until it hit you.

Everything, Dio, Jonathan, The fire, Speedwagon, Jonathan fighting Dio, the cold grass on your heated body. Everything. Your breathing picks up for a moment as your eyes darted around the room, you may be treated now but where were you? Was Jonathan okay? Did Dio burn up?

A knock on the door was heard, you tensed but soon uttered a weak 'Come In' in response. Opening the door, you saw a familiar face. You couldn't help but feel your face light up, you remember this man.

"You're...Speedwagon, correct?" You ask softly, cringing at his condition. He was using a cane to walk, his left arm patched up and in a sling. You felt sorry for him, seeing how he was in a worse position than you.

"Yup, You're right. It's indeed me." Speedwagon laughs as you smile softly. You watched as he limped by the bed, sitting in the chair that was by you. You wasted no time answering questions.

"Where am I? Is Jonathan okay? God, I hope everyone is okay...Are you still in pain?" You shoot out question after question as Speedwagon has to stop you for a moment, trying to comprehend the interrogation you were throwing him.

"Hold On, Hold On, One at a time!" Speedwagon laughs, you couldn't find out why, but you felt your cheeks flare.  You listen intently, sitting up despite your ankle aching in protest.

"Okay, You are in the hospital. I've already been treated, thanks to you saving me." Speedwagon comments as you nod with a slight hum. So now you knew where you were.

"Jonathan is doing well, his girl Erina is taking care of him." Speedwagon sighs, thinking of the two. "They do get along so well, don't they?" You chuckle, nodding in response again as you watched Speedwagon's daydreaming face.

"Oh! I'm not in any pain for now, thanks for asking." Speedwagon smiles, you thought you were seeing things in your pained state, but he looked redder than usual.

"That's good news...." You smile, now sitting up straight. "Although, one final thing has been bothering me."

Speedwagon looks at you confused as you lean closer, a worried look in your eye. Tension was felt in the air as you felt fear bubble in your body. Was he still out there?

"Is Dio...dead?" You ask, Speedwagon reflecting your worry as he leans back sighing.

"I do believe so, yes. The bastard burned in the rubble along with that wretched mask from what I know of." Speedwagon scoffs. You let out a sigh in relief when Speedwagon says that, leaning back and allowing your thoughts to be pensive.

"Thank God...." You breathe, letting your body relax even more as Speedwagon seems to soften at your lax posture.

"Although, May I ask a question, now?" Speedwagon asks nervously as you look at him.

"Of course! I wouldn't mind." You laugh, feeling your mood improve as Speedwagon clears his throat.

"You seem to have known Dio for awhile, of course, this is just intuition but, how did you and Dio react with each other?" Speedwagon blurts curiously, you seeming to scoff as you thought of the vampiric man.

"I have been friends with Jonathan for a long time. Which means I would have to interact with DIo at some point. He was oddly flirty with me, yet it didn't feel romantic. It felt like he was playing with me, trying to force contact with me one way or another. I never like the man, don't get that idea, please. I found him to be evil incarnate." You rant, Speedwagon listening intently to your feelings. He could tell you rally resented the man, which made him feel oddly relieved.

"Well, you shouldn't have to deal with him anymore. That man is rotting in hell with his demons. You don't need to think of him anymore." Speedwagon comforts, his good arm lightly touching your shoulder as you gasp slightly.

His touch was gentle compared to Dio's, much more comforting instead of taunting and teasing. His brown eyes held so much care instead of Dio's piercing gold ones. What was this feeling? It felt so...nice-

"T-Thank you, Speedwagon." You thank, turning away and hiding your cheeks as Speedwagon laughed.

"Welcome, (Y/N)!"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Blood filled his body and mouth, the weakened vampire cursing under his breath as he drank from another woman. Scarred skin slowly started to heal as the blonde man smirks. Throwing the corpse of the woman on the ground, Dio licked his claws and his lips. Just a little more and his body would be in perfect shape.
"Jack, feel free to eat the rest. I've had my fill." Dio hums, strutting around the castle in his new garbs. They fit snugly on his body, Purple scarf fluttering behind him as he looked out the balcony and into the night sky. Something seemed to be troubling him.
"Master Dio, What seems to be ailing you?" Dio hears someone call, turning his head slightly to see Wang Chan standing in the doorway. Dio scoffs continuing to look out the balcony.
"It is none of your concern. I wish to be left alone to my thought for now." Dio hisses softly, Wang Chan nodding as him and Jack The Ripper leave. Dio leans on the railing, looking down upon Windknight's Lot. The large hill allowing there to be a delightful view.
Dio clenches the railing, blood red eyes glaring to seemingly nothing as he thought. You, you had crawled back into his mind. You had escaped among the chaos that was him and Jonathan's battle. He craved to know where you were.
You were always so entertaining in his youth, fighting against his wishes and overall playing a nice game of 'Hard To Get'. Many women would normally swoon into his arms with his charm and charisma, yet you, you would fight against him. This only made the now vampire lord crave you more. He need more of your fight, more of you.
The vampire turned away from the railing with a twirl, scarf spinning behind him as he walked past his throne and to his quarters. There laid the Stone Mask that gave him his power. A menacing aura surrounded the room as Dio held the stone mask up, tracing a finger over the surface.
A smirk appeared on the vampire's face as he thought of you, oddly, he felt he needed to have you with him in his rule. You would be under him, of course, yet you would be held at high regard by his minions. You would make a wonderful bride, him wanting to keep that fight with him for all eternity.
If he got tired of it, he would simply break your mind. He was manipulative, just like back then, it wouldn't be hard for him now to bend you to his will. Maybe he might keep you human for a little while, just until he felt you were ready to have the stone mask upon your pretty little face.
A small chuckle rumbled from the blonde's throat, eyes set on his next prize as he put the mask down. It was time, he'd have you hunted down and stolen away, all to himself. He'd have you be his, he had all the time in the world after all.
"Wait for me, my dear. You'll be by my side eventually."
