Nice to meet you! (P. 2)
A/N: Okay, so school's been bringin' be down for a bit but, I had to finish this somehow even with my crappy browsers. I've decided to make Lúcio taller! Yayyyy. Now he's 5'6.5"! I'll have to make adjustments to the previous chapter. Sorry for the weird excuse about school, I didn't want to make it so that Reader was going to school half the time so... I had to find some way to make school shorter ;-; pls forgive I wanna make this logical so scrubs like me don't comment about it... JUST IMAGINE IT'S LOGICAL. TBH IDEK HOW UNI WORKS SOOOO... WHETHER IT'S LOGICAL OR NOT... YOU DECIDE...
We slowly arrived at the base. We got out and I looked around. It seems like some people were decorating for Christmas. Lúcio skated beside me.
"Wanna head in?" He looked at me.
"Y-Yeah!" He led me in and opened the door with a touch ID scan.
"Cool..." It took me awhile to process the beauty of the Overwatch base.
"C'mon, let me show you around." He increased his pace and I followed him.
"Can I meet everyone?" He stopped and hesitated.
"Well, not all today but... Maybe after some time... Yeah, sure!" He smiled reassuringly. I heard loud footsteps approaching us. It was Winston, in the flesh. Haramb- I mean... The scientist himself. He looked at Lúcio.
"Winston! How's it hangin'?"
"Uhm, okay, I guess. We got this big mission coming u- Oh. I get it." I started cringing from the joke he made. I let out a long sigh.
"Anyways, I wanted to ask you if you were free for a mission tomorrow. You and your weird schedules..." Lúcio paused to think. I looked at both of them. Winston finally acknowledged my presence.
"Oh, I'm sorry I didn't see you there. Are you a new recruit?" I waved my hands in denial.
"O-Oh no I'm jus-"
"She's a friend, she told me she was a fan of Overwatch and I decided to show her around."
"Oh! Well you probably know me... I'll introduce myself anyways. I'm Winston, and you?"
"Nice to meet you, I'm Clara." I shook his hand.
"I hope you can become a great Overwatch hero someday." He smiled at me.
"Yeah, maybe I'll consider it."
"As Lena says, The world could always use more heroes!" I chuckled.
"Yeah..."
"And to answer your question, I am free for a mission tomorrow. Unless I have any last minute plans..." Lúcio replied. I didn't really know why he would have last minute plans... Why would he have last minute plans? Oh well. Still so much I don't know about these people. (Mango: :-) See what I did there?)
"Well I hope to see you tomorrow. If you'll excuse me I have matters to tend to." He walked away.
"Well that's one. Let's go see if anyone's in the lounge." He looked at me. He skated through the hallway. Passing by a few doors, we finally reached a single door. It automatically opened for us and we went in. There we saw Jack (Soldier 76), Jamison (Junkrat), Lena (Tracer), Hana (D. Va) and Satya (Symmetra) (Mango: If you're wondering where tf I find all these names, I went to the Overwatch Wiki. Symmetra's name is kinda weird, but I can't rlly judge. Imma just use Symmetra to make thing's not weird...) chatting and sitting on a few seats. Lúcio waved and greeted all of them but gave Symmetra a blank look.
"Oh, and who might this lovely sheila be?" Jamison said in his every-so-charming accent.
"Can't just bring in strangers around here." Jack looked at him. I stood there, silent.
"Oh, she's a friend of mine!"
"She's your friend, huh?" Lena winked.
"We just met recently!" He denied, not wanting to mention the fact that we only met this morning.
"Okay~ Whatever you say...~" She purred. It looked as if he wanted to slap her in the face.
"I didn't know you talked to any other girls besides your fans." Symmetra said. Everyone looked between the both of them. Hana broke the silence.
"... But that's none of my business." She drank some water from her cup. I caught Lúcio cringing in the background.
"Nice one." I said. Knowing the meme.
"Ahh! Someone who finally gets it!" She got up and walked over to me. She took my hands.
"What's your name?" She had a sparkle in her eyes, it seemed like she were passionate about memes.
"(Y-Y/n)."
"Wow! Nice name! Never met any (y/n)s before."
"The name's Hana Song! But you can just call me Hana, or D. Va if you're like that." She let go of my hands. She positioned herself beside me and whispered,
"No one around here knows memes that well except for me, Lúcio and Lena a bit... And you too." I put on a face of regret.
"That's not good news." I whispered back.
"I know right!" She sat back down.
"Oh! We forgot to introduce ourselves! I'm pretty sure you know us already, but it's just for respect. I'm Lena." She spoke up.
"Call me Jack."
"Jamison Fawkes at your service. Jamison's fine too."
"Satya Vaswani. Pleasure to meet you. I'm sorry you had to meet this street ruffian." She closed her eyes and looked away.
"Satya that last part wasn't necessary." Jack scolded her. She just scoffed. Jamison broke the silence.
"So, you interested in explosions?" He asked.
"Well... If I took a video with my new camera and used it for MLG purposes... Yes. You could say I do." I remembered I bought a new camera to help start off my photography career. I wanted to practice taking photos. I was in my third year of university for photography.
"You're a photographer?" Lena asked.
"Well, I'm studying photography in university. I'm in my third year."
"Meaning... You're around twenty?"
"Twenty-one."
"Woah! You're young!" Lúcio looked at me.
"Didn't you know that? I mean you're the one who first met her." Hana asked.
"W-Well it's not very polite to ask someone's age when you first meet them." He covered it up.
"That's true..." She replied.
"You're younger than almost all the heroes here, except for Hana." Lena looked over at her.
"Yeah, I'm pretty young. I'm only nineteen after all."
"Not much of a surprise." I replied.
"Yeah..." My schedule for university was a bit different. For some reason I'm leaving earlier. I finish university December the fourteenth. Right now it's the twenty seventh of November.
(Mango: Read the last paragraph of the authors note if you're wondering about logic if you haven't read it yet.)
"When do you graduate?" Lena asked.
"The sixteenth of December I believe."
"Well when do you finish university?"
"The fourteenth." I replied.
"That's not to far from now! Should we attend your graduation ceremony?" Hana asked.
"N-No! That's not necessary!" I waved my hands. I didn't want all the overwatch heroes to visit me...
"Well maybe not all of us but maybe just some of us." Jack suggested.
"Well, I guess that'd work..."
"How about just us?" Jamison threw in.
"Yeah!" Hana agreed.
"But my only concern is," I begun.
"How will we get you all in without causing all the attention? Especially Lúcio." They all sat there and thought. If we were to make disguises, that could work. But I don't think that we could disguise Jamison no matter how hard we tried. With hair and dirt like that, I'm sure he never wants to take a bath. Lena and Hana might be easier to hide. But Lúcio's hair... I don't think that'll work out very well. We could replace Jack's mask with a scarf, and let him wear sunglasses, but...
"Ahh whatever! We'll decide when it gets to us." Jamison waved it off.
"Yeah... You're right. We probably shouldn't be thinking of this yet. I mean we just met after all..." They all nodded.
"Well, don't let us get in the way of your tour around the place! I hope we can see you again!" Lena smiled.
"Yeah, I'd like to talk with you more." Jamison winked at me. I just sighed.
"Hope we can get you into training, you got some potential. I think you'd make a fine hero." Jack approved. I laughed nervously. I wasn't really here to become a hero.... But I'd consider it.
"I'd just train for self defence..."
"Then you should consider visiting Genji or Hanzo! Girls like us gotta stay light on their feet y'know?" She winked.
"Sure. Don't want anyone trying anything on me..."
"How about we go visit them next then?" Lúcio beamed.
"Alright. Sounds good to me." I was really excited to meet the Shimada brothers. I've always admired their skill. Hanzo's aim is out of this world, and Genji's skill in stealth is to die for... I've always wanted to see his blade... Before I knew it I was being dragged by an impatient Lúcio.
"C'mon!"
"H-Hey wait!" We were back outside.
"So who are we gonna visit first?" I asked.
"Hmm... How about Hanzo? I'm sure he's doing some archery training... Yeah. He said he does it on Sundays... I think." He scratched the back of his head.
"Oh, Hanzo? He went out somewhere... I think he'll be back later today." I heard a new voice from behind me. It was Mei.
"Mei! What's chillin'?"
"Haha, I'm fine. And who's this?" She looked at me.
"Oh, this is (y/n). She's a friend of mine."
"Nice to meet you! I'm Mei! Well, you probably already know me."
"Yeah... I do. Nice to meet you." She extended her hand and I gladly shook it.
"Though I'm pretty sure Genji is meditating or training outside."
"Oh, okay. Thanks!"
"No problem. I hope to see you around here more often!" She smiled at me and walked away.
"C'mon. Let's see if he's meditating." He led me to a room. It looked like a room for meditating, but no Genji. The cyborg-ninja was nowhere in sight.
We went outside to the garden area. I don't know why he'd be training here. There were some trees, random bushes, colorful flowers and some other shrubs and herbs. Lúcio went ahead and looked around. I slowly walked around. Admiring the garden. I felt a gust of wind blow behind me. I quickly turned around only to have my mouth covered as I was dragged to a nearby tree. Just muffled talking was heard. I wouldn't be surprised if it was Genji. I felt cold hands holding my waist. The same cold feeling around my mouth as they released their hand. I turned around. It was Genji. He put a finger over his lip area. (Mango: Considering he's wearing a mask.) We pushed some leaves only to reveal a dumbfounded Lúcio. I softly giggled. We came out of our hiding spot and Genji tapped him on the shoulder.
"G-Genji!" He laughed.
"I found your friend here." He motioned his hand to me. I waved.
"There you are." He sighed.
"I heard she was considering training for me," He paused.
"Or my brother." I looked away.
"Well sorta..." I replied.
"I don't see much problem with it." Hanzo was walking into the garden. I really had no words. My heart started beating a bit faster. I've always admired their skill.
"I've never really considered training anyone before... I'm sure you could learn something from my teachings unlike my brother here."
"Hoy!" Genji looked at him. Hanzo didn't reply. Lúcio was just kinda there. Watching these two brothers with his 'oh sh*t' face.
"So, what is the name of this fine maiden I could possibly have as my pupil?" Genji put his arm around my shoulders. Gosh these people. F*ckboys much.
"That's not a good first impression, Genji."
"What?" He removed his cold metal arm from my shoulders. I could tell he was messing around.
"Hanzo, at your service. And you are?" He bowed.
"I-I'm (y/n)." I was a bit surprised at his seriousness.
"And I'm Genji. Nice to meet you." Genji did a weird formation with his hands. (Mango: Like the one he does in the highlight intros where he- you get it.) Lúcio looked dead on the inside. He was looking at a nearby shrub. I was intimidated by the towering presence of the two beside me. I took a small step forward.
"Sorry about the bad first impression." He slightly i I took a little step closer to Lúcio.
"I'm sorry for my bad first impression." He mocked Hanzo a bit. Which caused me to crack up a little.
"Well I hope you enjoy your tour of the base. Nice meeting you. I hope to see you soon." And Genji left.
"As do I. I'd be happy to offer you some archery practice. I'll see you sometime soon." Hanzo walked away.
"Well that was pretty interesting." I walked up to a dead Lúcio. I waved a hand in front of his face.
"Hello? Anyone there?"
"Oh! Yeah!" He woke up.
"Can I see your room now? I wanna see the sonic amp..." I looked away. He simply laughed.
"Of course, c'mon!" He took my hand and we skated in a certain direction. He let go of my hand and opened the door.
The room wasn't too big. It didn't seem like they needed big rooms anyways. I saw a few monitors in the corner of the room, along with a keyboard in front of it. I assumed that's where he made some of his songs, though I wouldn't expect him to make his songs here.
"Do you make some of your songs here?"
"I get some inspiration, so I start some ideas and projects here. I don't really have a specific place to record my music or anything like that. Mostly it's just here. So, yes. I do. Sometimes I need to find other sounds to be creative, so I just look around. More like listen around." I looked around I found his sonic amp hung up against the wall, along with the patch that goes around his arm. I also caught that backpack-like item hanging around as well.
"Woah... The actual sonic amp... In all its glory..." I stared in awe.
"Yeah..."
"You boop people with that right?"
"Yeah! It's pretty fun sometimes." He walked over to his set of monitors.
"Wanna hear what I've been working on so far?"
"Y-Yeah sure!" I walked over. He started playing a tune. It sounded pretty nice. (Mango: Idrk what to put as music so I'll just leave it ._.) Had a nice twist to it. A little spice. Since he was still working on it, it was came to a stop.
"What do you think?" He looked over at me.
"Sounded pretty good so far. I can't wait to hear the rest."
"Say, what time is it?" He looked at his phone.
"Aw! I wish it was 12 pm. It would've been perfect! But it's almost three fifteen."
"Where is McCree at a time like this?"
"Jesse? Well, he probably went out somewhere to drink. Knowing him."
"I would call him Jesse, but it would be awkward because I haven't formally met'em." I looked away.
"Ah he wouldn't care!" He waved it off.
"Yeah, I guess he seems like that kind of guy." He noticed something on his computer.
"Oh! I have to quickly do something one sec..." I wanted to look around a bit, so I found a reasonable excuse.
"Hey um, do you know where the bathroom is?"
"Oh yeah just around the kitchen room, just go down the hall, turn left, you'll see the kitchen and then two rooms after, turn right and it's there." I struggled to remember it.
"Wait... Which way do I turn left? From this room, do I turn left or right?" He took my arm and showed me which way.
"That way."
"Oh okay thanks." I walked in the direction he pointed in.
I passed by some doors and turned left. I saw the kitchen, but I smelt something... Odd. I couldn't say whether or not it was good, or bad. I peered in to see Genji with his arms crossed. Looks like he was confused.
"Did I not put enough yeast..." I looked at what he baked. Wait, he bakes?? I went in.
"I think the problem is you put too much yeast. And did you let it sit long enough in water..." I looked at his recipe. I think he was making steamed buns... They were all poofy.
"And I'm sure you let the dough sit for long enough, right...?" He laughed nervously. I sighed.
"Here. Let me help you." I ended up making the dough for him. It seemed like he had the rest under control. I never really cooked, I was more on baking. So usually when I was too lazy to go out in the cold, I made my own bread. Though, sometimes it didn't turn out as well, it was still good to eat. I mean it's not like bread should be sweet or anything. So not tasting like much is fine.
"Thank you, (y/n). I owe you one." He bowed.
"Anytime. I'll see you around."
I went two rooms ahead, and then turned right. There were the bathrooms. I went in and looked at the mirror. A clean image of myself reflected off of it. I washed my hands and dried them off with a few paper towels. I left and walked by the kitchen. I looked inside to see how Genji was doing. It seems like he was satisfied with what he made. He caught me peeping inside.
"Ah! (Y/n). Please try them. I would like your feedback. Be careful, they're still hot." I grabbed one with a tissue and blew it. I took a bite. It was pretty good. It had nice texture.
"Pretty good. Though maybe adding some more salt or sugar to the meat. It depends on how you want it. But it lacks taste."
"Okay. Thanks."
"No problem." I brought the bun with me. I went back to Lúcio's room.
I bumped into someone along the way. I quickly apologized and left.
"Woah there."
"S-Sorry!" I walked away. Seemed it was McCree. Or Jesse... Whatever. I lightly knocked on the door.
"Come in!" I heard Lúcio raise his voice.
"Oh, it's just you. I thought it was someone else like Winston or Hana excited to hear my new song." He laughed. I walked in munching the bun.
"You took awhile." I sat on a small couch.
"Yeah, I had to help Genji make some dough for his steamed buns."
"So that's what the smell was..."
"Huh?"
"N-Nothing." There was a loud knock at the door. Our heads immediately turned to the door.
"Yes?" Lúcio spoke from behind his monitors. McCre- I mean Jesse... Or-
"Oh you're the girl who bumped into me just a few minutes ago." I chewed on the rest of my bun slowly and began to nod.
"Y'all seemed like you were in a rush."
"I just didnt want Lúcio to worry- more like I didn't want to keep him waiting."
"Ah none of my concern. Anyways, is the mission tomorrrow still a go?" He looked at Lúcio. He snapped back to reality.
"Oh yeah the mission, yeah it's still up. Angela said she had some 'matters' to tend to. So I'll be filling in tomorrow."
"Alright. And by the way," he looked at me.
"The name's McCree, Jesse's fine too, m'lady." He tipped his hat.
"Like a sir..." I mumbled.
"My name's (Y/n), nice to meet you."
"I'll be off then." He walked away.
"Wow! You're lucky today! You met a lot of the Overwatch members already!"
"Yeah, you're right."
"And weird enough, some of them were looking for me." He laughed.
"By the way, I'm almost finished the song. Listen." I walked over to him. He passed me a set of headphones. I put them on and he played it. Luckily the volume wasn't too loud.
"Wow... This is much better with an added part."
"Are you implying it was bad before I added it?"
"No! Of course not!"
"I'm just messing with you." I let out a long sigh.
"Y'know do you have any homework for uni or something?" I remembered I did have homework."
"FREAK ME!! I DO HAVE HOMEWORK! FREAK FREAK FREAK... WHAT TIME IS IT!?"
"Calm down, it's only four seventeen." I sighed in relief.
"What is your homework anyways?"
"I have to take three pictures using the recent skills we learned."
"Do you have your camera with you?" I brought my camera almost everywhere it was because I wanted to catch any good photo I could find. My phone camera was okay but I liked my other camera better. My camera was in my bag, the bag I brought was the camera bag, where I kept a few other items like my wallet and my phone. I never really used makeup that much. I never really found the need to. Sometimes I apply a few touches of blush and lipstick. I never really wore lipstick nor do I like it. There was a door opening up to a balcony. I walked slowly towards the door.
"Oh yeah! I forgot to show you the balcony!" He slid the door open and went outside. It was a bit cold, but I could see the front of the Overwatch base from here.
There were lights all around, illuminating the area around the fountain. Since it was getting colder, it was already dark outside.
"Woah, I didn't notice how dark it got..." I was occupied with the view, I pulled out my camera from my bag and positioned the perfect shot.
"What are yo-"
"Move a bit." He listened and moved. I got the perfect position and the lighting was pretty decent. Better than the lighting I've had in my life... I took a deep breath and took the shot. That's as good as it would get.
"Oh! Oh! Can I see?" He said excitedly. I showed him the picture.
"Woah, you're a really good photograph- Would you say, 'photographer' or 'photographess'..."
"I think it goes both ways. I don't even think photographess is a word."
"Yeah, you're right."
All I need to do know is to get two more shots like that. Although, in a place like this... I'm not sure if I'll be so lucky...
A/N: I thought it was gonna be SUPER long because it was like 9 pages on a Google doc... But it's only 3571 words excluding this authors note. Including the top one it's 3571. I'm too lazy to check without the first note. I better stop writing really long chapters and put them into small bursts instead... Yeah that's probably a good idea... Anyways. Imma play some Papa's Cupcakeria! Please tell me if I made any errors because no one really looked over the doc this time XD So just comment on that paragraph where I went wrong, and I'll try to fix it as much as possible. Sorry if any of the mistakes irk you... Hope you enjoyed anyway!
