Baking(Kuki x Dechi Megami)

A/N Alright! I'm back in business! Just got interested/back into the fandom and i have loads of motivation to continue writing these MCSM-themed oneshots. However, the requests are still closed. I still have a lot of unfinished ones on my list or some that I've planned but never got the time to write. So first, I'd like to say that I've sorta changed my style of writing oneshots. I'll no longer try to make them cheesy like I did back in 2017 but also keep them short and not have a pointless ending leading to more cringe. Though I'd like to thank everyone who's still reading this book(surprisingly) and for the amount of votes! I'm happy to say that this book is my first successful book on wattpad(Im not counting my randomness book for obvious reasons). Now that's said, enjoy the Oneshot and the ones coming out in the mere future!

It was a fine afternoon, the elementals just came back from a trip towards an unidentified city by the provinces. Currently, they were just relaxing by the temple. Clearly exhausted from the trip, they weren't really in the mood to do anything until a certain brown haired girl popped up behind the air elemental. "Kuki~kun!" Dechi Megami cheered. The boy opened his eyes from his nap and jumped slightly. "Dechi! What did I tell you for using the Japanese words?" The boy replied a bit shyly. Not really wanting to yell at her, but he was frustrated at this point. He held off his patience for two months now. The girl laughed. "What? Can't I not use those words? I like them!" She chimed, sitting next to him on the couch. He sighed.

"I really can't stay mad at you.." he blushed. That made Dechi's smile grow brighter. "Awww" she let her lips escape. Kuki sighed and faced the nature goddess. "So what's with the surprise visit?" He chuckled. Dechi scratched her ears slightly. "Um...well I need help with making sweets for a bakery sale. I kinda volonounteered." She explained. He smiled slightly. "Good thing you came to me. I bet Kasai would have burned the batter by now." He chuckled, walking to the kitchen. Slowly being followed by the natured element. "So what do you plan on the bake sale?" He asked, his blue eyes turning behind him to see the girl trotting her way over to him.

"I actually don't know about that. But as long as it's yummy. " she chuckled lightly at the response she gave him. Kuki smirked. Ofcourse she'd only care to serve it to herself and others when the treats were good. "How about a pile of charcoal?" The air elemental teased, wanting to hear her shrieks of disgust and deception. "What the what? Why would we serve people that?" she whispered kinda surprised by his suggestion. Though something about her sentence, made the boy's eyes shot open. There was a brief silence between them before the two arrived in the kitchen. That's when he spoke:

"Since when was there a 'we' in this current project. I thought it was your job." He lifted a brow and chuckled nervously. Being the nervous one, he could only be confident to one person and that was himself. H was scared that he'd make the girl have the wrong idea or even embarrass himself. However, whatever he did. The nature goddess blushed slightly. The tint of roseate on her tanned cheeks. It was too obvious to pass up. "Uh...you know, like teamwork. We're in this together!" She blurted out and even twitched her ears a bit before walking pass him and towards the sink. He followed her and giggled quietly.

After that the two washed their hands. It was time to bake. "Ok, we can't just sit here all day and in the end have no sweets baked. So what are your ideas?" The boy asked, helping the girl put her apron on. Dechi chuckled before thinking. "Hm..how about a nice yummy cake?" She proposed. That wasn't actually a bad idea. It was rather easy to make and it was enough to feed most of the students that were interested in cakes at school. Kuki nodded at the suggestion. "Good idea Dechi. " he praised quickly yet calmly before clicking his fingers and the cabinets opened. The brown haired watched in amazement as a box of cake mix, a spatula and a few bowls came floating down on the two admins. "I see you've been practicing with your admin powers." She stated impressed. Kuki blushed. "You're impressed with that? Come on, it was nothing but thank you, I appreciate it." He grabbed the ingredients and placed them on the table. Dechi smiled, staying close to him.

"What's first?" The girl asked, watching the boy lift the box up to the ceiling, more particularly where the lanterns were and squinted his eyes. Trying to read the miniature handwriting on the back of the package. It took him a few minutes to reply before putting the box back down. "Three eggs, some baking powder, salt, milk, butter and crushed up cocoa beans." He informed her.
"I can get the ingredients for you. " she gave a half-smile. Originally she was gonna give a full one until she heard what he said after. "Without your powers." he said rather quietly but didn't seem intimidated to whatever response she gave in return. Her eye twitched slightly as she stood there, frozen in time. He grinned: "Aw what's the matter? Rely on your powers too much?" He teased.

She shook her head then crossed her arms. "N-No. In fact I'm quite happy you mentioned that. I needed a break from using my powers anyways." She let out a small jokingly 'hmph' at the end before moving out of her place to open the fridge and such. Kuki laughed. "But aren't you lazy most of the time?" He mentioned again which made the brown haired goddess to stumble backwards. "Am not!" She responded, clearly flustered. Being the sensitive one in the group, the boy looked down apologetically. "I'm sorry, I didn't know what came over me. Was that too much? " he asked quietly. The girl was quite surprised by his apology but shook her head. "No it's fine. I know you're joking Kuki." She reassured him before opening the iron door and was greeted by a familiar chill.
The coldness of the fridge ofcourse.

Once Dechi got all the ingredients assembled on the table. Kuki instructed her what to do. "Ok, pour in atleast 3/4 teaspoons of the milk.". Truth be told, he wanted Dechi to do all the work. Not because he wanted to leave her hanging and overwhelmed in the end but rather because this was her project or more so, bother. In the world if you're always doing the work for someone, how could they learn? As expected, Dechi obeyed and summoned a spoon from the chest. The cake mix, butter, crushed cocoa beans, salt, eggs and baking powder were already in the huge bowl. Now all they needed was the milk. Dechi Slowly poured the white liquid onto the wooden spoon carefully. Her blue eyes not escaping the sight as the milk slowly shook due to her trembling hands.
After, she successfully titled her hand slightly and poured the spoonful of milk inside of the bowl.

The air elemental raised a finger and the spatula came floating towards them. Dechi sighed, pushing the milk bucket and eggs away. "Mixing time." She stated unamused and brushed any excessive powder off her apron. Kuki Smiled and handed her the spatula. "Yes Dechi. Mixing time." He repeated. His chilly light blue eyes glancing over at the bowl sitting right in front of them. From that gesture, Dechi already knew that she had to get mixing. She groaned and softly slammed the tool inside the unmixed batter. "Ugh, fine." With one gesture of her hand, she began to mix slowly but added pressure in her mixing. The boy watched satisfied and waited until she was done.
~~~
It took her around 25 minutes until Kuki was satisfied with the result of the batter. Though how was he supposed to tell when batter was ready to be injected into the oven? He wasn't like the BEST baker around, was he? Dechi blew a strand of her brown hair away from her face as she was leaned on the table. One hand supporting her head from falling on the firm tablecloth.
"I'm tired." She complained softly. The boy giggled and grabbed the bowl away from her. "I know you are. But hey, you did a good job with mixing." he complimented, still a bit red.
The girl smiled at that. "Thanks! I really tried, you know? According to my dead hands, you owe me!" She shot back jokingly. This time, instead of staying trapped in his shell of nervousness, Kuki actually narrowed his eyebrows in a playful manner. "It's YOUR project!" he joked back before opening the oven's iron door and slid the metal pan inside of the machine. An expression of happiness yet contentment written on his frontage as he slowly closed the door right after.
A/N and that's the Oneshot! Hope you guys enjoyed and especially you Dechi lol. You have no idea how many times I broke out of character for Kuki. Seriously, writing a nervous guy in a romantic situation is hard enough. But I'm glad that I was atleast able to finish this Oneshot. It's 3AM right now. *gasp*. But it's fine! I'm practically used to reserving these "late hours" for fanfiction and writing. Though, let's see, what's next on my list? Some more Werewolf AU Jetra i see. That wraps it up people! Thanks for reading! And cya guys in the next Oneshot!
