Two | Auradon
The jet landed, still invisible, and everyone stood up. "Ready?" Happy asked and Ava breathed in before shaking her head. "Nope." They had picked Peter and May up, so they could say their last goodbyes to Ava. The four then walked out of the jet and were met by a group of three, the three being the royal family. They all bowed and the King and Queen smiled at them. "You must be Ava. I'm Belle, this is my husband Adam, and our son Ben." Ava gave them all a smile, although it was fake, but neither of them noticed. The only one who did notice was Peter, and he took hold of Ava's side. "We were told that we would also be meeting Tony Stark?"
Three out of four tensed up and Ava cleared her throat.
"He died," she said in a monotone voice.
"Oh, I'm so sorry for your loss."
Ava gave them all painful smiles before turning to the three people that came with her. "I'll be staying for a week with Ava, make sure that she's all right," Happy told everyone, and they all nodded. Ava gave May and Peter one last hug before they boarded the jet where a second pilot was waiting for them.
Guards came over and grabbed their luggages and Ava thanked them.
"Tony came and he had a house built for Ava within days. We'll lead you there in a few moments, but first, we need to talk in a more secure place." Happy and Ava nodded and they followed the royal family toward a castle. They noticed a girl waiting outside the castle, and the girl rushed over.
"Hey Benny Boo." She then caught sight of Ava and forced a smile. "Who's this?"
"I'll tell you later, Audrey. I can't talk right now."
The girl, Audrey, frowned before nodding and air kissing Ben before walking off. Ava rose an eyebrow, but said nothing as a small smirk appeared on her face. They all walked into the castle and Ava and Happy were admiring the place. They entered what seemed to be a living room and thr guards all bowed before leaving and closing the doors after them.
"Tony said that you have a power."
Ava looked over at Happy before sighing. She then double tapped on the spider on her bracelet, and the Iron Spider suit now covered her body. The three widened their eyes and Ben smiled.
"You're Spiderwoman!"
Ava chuckled at Ben's enthusiasm and nodded. Her mask went away and she smiled over at them. "Yes, as Ben said, I'm Spiderwoman. And I would like it if no one else knows my secret identity. Does anyone else here know that Spiderwoman exists?" "No," Ben reassured her, "I'm just a huge nerd."
Ava laughed, a genuine laugh. Happy noticed this and he smiled down at Ava. "Well, you have your own house, so you won't have a dorm. Ben, want to show her around?" Ben nodded and the two teenagers got up.
As soon as they left, Happy sighed.
"You have to understand how hard this is for her. She's 16, is a superhero, fought in basically two wars, she didn't exist for 5 years, and when she came back, her mentor and father figure died in order to save the universe. . . She hasn't had time to heal since and is now leaving her family." The King and Queen frowned and Belle had tears in her eyes.
"She's been through all that?"
Happy nodded and a tear slipped from Belle's eye. "That poor girl."
Meanwhile, Ben was showing Ava around Auradon and where her classes will be. It was silent between the two for a while and Ben sighed. "I truly am sorry for your loss." Ava gave him a small, yet grateful smile, before she frowned.
"We had to save the universe. . . Tony had to sacrifice his life. . . I wish he hadn't, but it was the only way. Strange said that he saw 14,000,605 different outcomes and we only win one, so we had to do everything that we could in order to win." Ben nodded and Ava slipped on her black sunglasses.
Ben decided to show her her new house and he smiled when they came upon it. Once Ava saw the house, her jaw dropped and she smiled.
"Tony built this?"
Ben nodded and Ava laughed. Ben then gave her the key and she dragged Ben over to the front door. "Shall we?" Ben chuckled and nodded and Ava unlocked the front door. She pushed open the door and walked in with Ben following her. She stared around the house in awe and chuckled when she saw a few things that gave the house a bit of a Tony Stark touch.
"Hello, Ava."
Ben jumped and Ava felt like crying.
"O.R.I.O.N.?"
"Yes, it's me. Tony had kept me and then installed me here for when you came."
And with that, Ava burst into tears. Ben at first didn't know what to do, but then he walked over and pulled the crying girl into a hug. It was all too much for Ava, with everyone saying his name and her being reminded that he was no longer alive. She kept seeing his face and remembered the last hug he ever gave her. And his lasts words to her kept replaying in her head.
"I've missed you, kid. Now let's go kick some ass."
Ave cried her heart out and was thankful that Ben was there for her. Sure, the two just met, but Ben was there for her nonetheless. Ben rubbed her back as he let the girl sob into his chest. He couldn't even imagine what Ava was going through. She lost her mentor, most of the Avengers, and she's leaving her family behind in order to help him. Ben couldn't help but feel guilty. He didn't say anything, though, as he ran his hand through Ava's hair and continued to let her cry. She's been holding everything in and has been strong for everyone that she hasn't let herself cry.
After a while, Ava had stopped crying, but she was still in Ben's arms.
"I'm sorry."
Ava furrowed her eyebrows and looked up. "I'm the one who should be saying that, seeing that I broke down in front of you and got snot and tears all over your shirt. Why are you sorry?" Ben chuckled at Ava's response and Ava couldn't help but smile at what she said.
"I'm sorry that I made you come here instead of being with your family."
Ava frowned and stood up. She walked over to the couches and motioned Ben over. After a couple of seconds, he sat down next to her. "Ben, you didn't force me to come. I chose to come. Tony left me this last mission, and I didn't want to let him down." Ben nodded, but then furrowed his eyebrows.
"How did he find out ababout what I was planning?"
"Tony Stark has - had - access to everything. Don't leave notes on your phone." Ava winked at him and Ben laughed, causing Ava to laugh. After they calmed down, Ben turned to her. "Tell me about yourself."
"Um, I'm 16, but I should be 21. I'm Spiderwoman, I have a twin brother who is Spiderman. I'm an Avenger, and I only have two best friends that aren't my brother. I love cookie dough ice cream, my favorite movie is Harry Potter, and I'm friends with a talking raccoon."
Ben rose his eyebrows at the last statement and they both burst out laughing.
For once, since the fight, Ava felt happy. She had no care in the world. She didn't care that she was a hero or that she has to continue to save the world. She was finally not worrying about anything as she was laughing her head off with Ben. Happy had walked into the house, but he stopped when he saw Ava laughing with Ben.
Happy smiled before quietly and quickly making his way over to one of the extra rooms in the house.
"A talking raccoon?"
"Yeah. His name's Rocket."
They burst out laughing once again, and Ben felt happy once he saw Ava laughing. Ben spent the rest of the day with Ava and the two quickly became fast friends. Ava didn't want to, but she knew that there was no way of stopping their friendship. She just hopes that she doesn't have to lose anyone else.
