Vik's PoV
Once again, Lachlan and I are just sitting on our beds, waiting for History lesson from Flame. It's now lights out, but unlike the last time, the corridor that we were in was a lot more darker than usual, with less moonlight shining in than before. I guess it's just nature's doing?
As I was thinking that, the reflection of the moonlight was gone for a split second, by that I mean the whole corridor's light... Then a screech put me out of my thoughts, which came from the hawk that was sitting at the opposite side of me.
"What the hell Lachlan?!" I asked annoyed, looking at the slightly frightened hawk that was shaking, as if he saw a ghost.
"They're h-here..." He replied in a shaky voice, so I just raised a eyebrow at him, completely confused of what he meant.
"What do you m-" I asked but was cut short by a shadow leaping onto me. I let out a scream that was not as high pitched as Lachlan's, and cursed under my breath as I saw Simon and Josh laughing at our reactions.
"You should've s-seen your r-reactions!" Simon said between laughs, with Josh agreeing with a nod and laughter.
The laughter was stopped by a growl that was coming from the door, so I looked over and of course it was from Flame, but this time her two spirits were here too.
She sat in the middle of the two beds, and stared at the shadows until they shut up. There must a bad connection between darks and shadows then?
"Can we start off with knowing what happened this/yesterday's morning?" I asked curiously, remembering that Simon was crying and Josh was definitely depressed in the mornings.
Simon signed and took something out of the shadow next to him, then which appears to be a note with blood on it. Are shadows used for carrying stuff then? Lachlan controlled the air currents with his powers to take the paper away from Simon's hands, then switched back to his half form to hold the note with his hands.
He finished reading the note with a worried and unsure look, which made me feel a bit uncomfortable.
I switched back to my half form as he handed the note to me soon after, and I grabbed it with my tail. I held it tightly in my hands afterwards and looked at what was written on it.

The hunters are now after you, so prepare to get taken~ If you try to find any friends to save you, they're dead in my eyes too. Can't wait until your in my grip shadows~

The note ended with a few splashes of blood on it, which frightened me a lot. The odd thing about this was that it was written on computer, so there's no way for us to know who wrote it, plus why's there blood on it?
I looked away from the piece of paper, to see Flame hissing at Josh, who was protecting Simon since the younger one was hiding behind him with fright.
"What the hell happened? Flame don't scare the two!" I commanded, so she backed off and sat down from a distance away, but was still staring at them with a unhappy look.
(A/N: Plz don't hurt me for now, I have my reasons okay?)
"We'll sort it out later..." She muttered quietly, then looked at me and signed, "I guess we'll start with the history then?" She asked to me and Lachlan, so we both nodded.
"Shadows, the ones between the lights and the darks, the most peaceful between the three. As they were between the light and dark, both sides had set different rules for their type. Luckily, the shadow king didn't argue with their rules and worked with it through the times."
"However, one day at midnight, both the light king and dark king was murdered. They didn't have much evidence, only knew that they were both killed by the same hybrid, using the exact same sword. They both blamed the shadow tribe for it, since they were known to kill and attack at midnight, with swords or spears."
"Then the brutal war happened, which caused the numbers of shadows hybrids decrease by a ton, and only few survived by escaping to the human world, the rest by hiding their shadow side to others."
"Nowadays hunters catch them for high cash rewards, since the kings still believe that all shadows are bad. Although I'm not a hunter myself, I still need to warn you about the fact that there's hunters in this laboratory..."
She finished explaining the long history of these hybrids, so now it was Josh and Simon's turn to explain.
"We have the ability to feel other people's auras, and for most hunters they don't have a elemental aura. One thing dangerous about them are the fact that they are pro with close-combat, so please be careful with them." Josh said in a serious voice.
"Is there anything special you know or have?" Lachlan asked curiously, and Simon replied with an unsure nod. He took something out of the shadow, and tapped it gently to the skull necklace he had that I somehow didn't notice.
A sound of a hiss and howl mixed came from below the floor, then a head of a light grey adorable snake popped up. It had tiny horns, although it was probably bigger than me in size. He didn't look too threatening to me, so I walked over patted it. It slowly slithered out from the floor that was shaded from shadows, then made a sound of purring and hissing mixed together. His lower half was covered in fur, while his upper half is covered in scales.
"I'm surprised he even let you pet it! He normally hates strangers..." Josh said surprised by this snake hybrid's reaction.
"So, what is this cute snake hybrid called?" I asked while patting its head, as it seems to enjoy it.
"We didn't give him a name yet, but you can name it if you want! It's a male by the way." Simon replied with a small smile.
"We're done for today's history, so we'll be leaving first." Flame whispered, then left with her spirits.
"Do you mind if he stays here for the rest of the night?" I asked hopefully, question directing to Simon and Josh. They both answered with a nod, so now the snake hybrid was curled up on my bed, as if it was waiting for me.
"We'll be leaving now, please take care of him for us." Josh reminded before leaving with Simon, sinking back into the shadows.
Lachlan walked over to look at the hybrid on my bed, and quietly sat next to me to scan his features. I hope I can name it something special...

Description:
Its upper half of the body is covered in light grey scales, with two tiny dark grey horns. Its lower half is covered in dark brown fur, with black spots all over it. Its body shape is in the one of a snakes of course, so any names for it? (It's another OC, don't judge meh) 🐍
