Chapter 6 - Lucinda's POV

See Lucinda Chapter 1 for a quick refresher on the "TV show" if needed. Side note: ASL stands for Alyssa's (cough Aphmau's) Second Life, not the disease. Enjoy this chapter!

I curl my hair with precision, not bothering to mess this up any day. My revealing shirt isn't enough to make him jealous for leaving me, even if it's a friendly gathering, oh no, no, no honey.

The curls compliment my makeup perfectly, a shimmering golden smokey eye with winged eyeliner and he perfect contour to blush to highlighter ratio. I carefully applied a berry lip tint, topping it with a matte berry lipstick and shading in my natural ginger eyebrows, adding a tint of my average orange flare. To top it off, my dark maroon dress has a cleavage you've never seen, the cutout in the back a heart pulling into a little bow.

It's perfect.

I finish off my hair, smiling in the mirror. I must admit, I haven't felt this good in a couple months. But damn, did I miss this side of me. It's my personality, a touch that makes my body and self image unique, added onto my wittiness and kindness.

I throw on some lace up white sandals as I plop into my rolly computer chair, checking the time. Took me one... Nope two hours to put myself together. Not bad though. I still have an hour to spare before I have to pull out, getting me there at 3:45, fifteen minutes early.

I plan out the next hour in my head as follows: I will grab a granola bar to eat quick while I drive and place it in my purse. I need some extra cash to tip the barista and pay for my coffee, I'll text Ivan a little before we meet up, make sure he doesn't bail, and finally play some Minecraft for twenty-ish minutes.

It takes less than two minutes to grab my granola bar, my stomach grumbling for the fabulous looking strawberry flavor. I rummage in my purse for some change and cash, finally pulling out two dollars for tip and ending with a credit card for the main purchase. Next is Ivan.

I wonder what he's doing at the moment to begin with as I snuggle into my couch, Bigglesworth chirping away in the corner inside the bird cage. I let the small parrot as he flies on top of the TV as usual, turning his head to people watch me. I bite my cheek, pondering as to what I should begin with.

Hey Ivan!!! You still up for coffee at that corner Starbucks today? at four... Remember?

I turn on the TV for the first time in months feeling super good compared to my new lethargic mood. I turn it to a side series called "Alyssa's Second Life- Great Adoration Beach."

It include the same characters as "Alyssa's Journal" but with new moods and settings, the story lines completely separate. I was hooked on both, of course, but didn't even know their was a new season of ASL, but I continue watching the love triangles and scenarios that play out on the screen.

I laugh so hard at the scene of Aiden and Dan kissing each other for the passes to the waterpark that I rarely even notice my phone buzzing like crazy. I notice it immediately, checking it for messages.

Text From: Ivan

Who is this exactly? Why does Ivan have you in his contacts and why are you texting him about a date?

Text From: Ivan

I don't mean to pester you... But who are you in affiliation to Ivan?

Text From: Ivan

I'm his girlfriend and I already caught him today cheating on me with a blonde named Jenna, and I just need answers.

Text From: Ivan

He left his phone in my car and it's been busy with girls messages, but none of them seem as normal as you though.

Text From: Ivan

Sorry for spamming, I'm just pissed. I'm Hailey and I can tell my your contact ur "Cute Cindy" or something...

My eyes widen, my face flushing with anger. What. The. Hell.

Text To: Ivan

Hey. That suxs. Text me from your phone, and I know how it feels and you're reacting much better than I did... Trust me. I was just planning a meet up with him... But don't hesitate to text me just for someone to talk to. And it's Lucinda by the way. Cindy was my old nick but I sometimes go by Lucy. -Lucinda (Sorry again :P)

I instantly become enraged, understanding that I fell for his tricks not once but twice, and that he has been doing the same thing for the past three years.

A new phone number pops up on my phone, as I already know who it is, changing the contact number to the name Hailey.

Text From: Hailey

Hey Lucy. I just went back inside and dumped him. Thanks for the encouraging word and I might be texting you again soon. <3

Text To: Hailey

No problem, hon. Text me anytime. And maybe we can go see a movie sometime soon or something. Talk trash about exes, chill and just do girly things. :)

Text From: Hailey

You don't know how great that sounds just about now. Thank you. Though I must admit, I live directly outside of Pikoro currently so I might need some navigating help XD I gtg now though. Thank you again. So much. :)

It truly makes me feel so at ease when someone doesn't know who I am. I hate the press, attention, and pampering unless it's a manicure or something of course, but I love being secluded. Being Lucinda and not Lucinda Crespo, the old Mayor's daughter who might become the new mayor unless she chooses to elect a new one. I hate that Lucinda.

I leave my phone and TV, wandering to my wardrobe to make a quick change. I slip out of my dress and into a large tee shirt and jean shorts. I plop into my computer chair for the second time in the past fifteen minutes as I log on to the chat, my eyes widening at the sudden intake of information. Not another person...

I think of Aphmau, her car, and most importantly, her condition.

"Fuck, Fuck, Fuck, Fuck, FUUUUCK." I heave under my breath, typing and watching the bubbles fill with words. Aphmau is one of my best friends, and I couldn't bare to loose her. I need to be there so she remembers me. I know when she sees me in person she'll remember me... Right?

After everyone leaves, I research. And hardcore research. I check my bank account, fuller than usual for many, MANY reasons. Next I find the closest flight from Pikoro County to Phoenix Drop County, buying and printing a plane ticket for 10:30 tonight, leaving me arriving their at 10:00 at night.

I quickly touch up my makeup, changing my sexy curls to a casual yet already frizzy straightened style, pulling the edges to the back for a low half up half down look. I check the time and pack some bags, dressing into a cute gray and gemmed tank top and some lace detailed jean shorts, finalizing the look with some beat up converse and a neck pillow.

I double check that I have everything, calling my neighbor, Aerith, asking her to feed Bigglesworth for the next few days. I leave a ten on the table for her, grabbing my rose gold beat looking headphones, sprinting toward the car.

I shove my belongings inside as I drive ten minutes to the empty airport, my ranking coming in handy.

Security guards crowd me and ask if I'm okay and where I'm going, directing me as quick as possible to the gate. I end up in first class as I arrive their at 9:30, just in time for my flight.

I cram into the plane that contains no more than ten people and rows upon rows seats, finding three cleared seats in a row for me to sit on. I place my bags in the overhead and my backpack and purse on the opposite seats like the other passengers.

I recite as far back as the chair lets me, which is surprisingly not far for an airplane. My stiff neck adjusts as I scroll through my social media apps, my neck pillow propped up near my neck.

Tonight is going to be a long one.
