Nico's PoV:

I fell backwards with surprise when my world was suddenly filled with color. I must've touched my soulmate. Meaning my soulmate was the cute guy that had tripped over me.

Schist! I realized. I just touched my soulmate!

I was terrified that he'd get angry that his soulmate was gay. I stood up quickly and ran away from the fire, which was red by the way, and towards my cabin, seeing that the strawberries we grow were green at the moment and so were the vines that covered the side of the Demeter Cabin. The Apollo cabin had yellow all over it, and the Poseidon cabin was decorated with things the same color as the ocean.

I stopped at my cabin and stared up at it.

It was still mostly black. I had hoped it had color like all the others. I was wishing that if I ever found my soulmate that I'd be able to stop at my cabin and soak in the reds, purples and greens,but instead it was all black and white. I guess I just shouldn't have gotten my hopes up.

I never should've gone to that campfire. And what if the demigods here
don't like LGBTQ+ couples? What if the cute guy and I were hated by now?
I tried to calm myself down. Even if everyone else hated me for dating a guy, I still had Percy who accepted me (after getting over the fact he wasn't my type) I took a deep breath. I could do this, and if I couldn't, I could just leave camp, right?

I took another deep breath and then I heard a knock on my door.

"Nico? I, um, I have to tell you something."

"Go away." I repeated.

  "It's just... I'm sorry. I should've known you weren't ready. Me and the other Aphrodite kids knew you two must be soulmates but you've almost never interacted so... we took matters into our own hands. I'm really sorry. I didn't realize you would've gotten upset, but I should've. Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?"

They did this?! They purposely, somehow, made that cute guy trip over me! How do they even know he's gay?! What if he's straight?! He's probably so disappointed right now and it's because of their stupid plan to make us a couple.

"Nico can you open the door?"

I hesitated but finally answered, "Fine."

I stumbled back when I saw the cute guy standing next to her, staring at the ground. I swallowed. "Piper, can I talk to you in private? Please?"

"Yeah. Hold on a moment, Will." I took note of his name and he nodded. I led Piper to the back of the cabin so Will couldn't hear.

"What were you thinking, Piper?! He's probably not even gay! You probably just ruined his life!"

"He is. He came out to Annabeth a while ago, and when I accidentally shipped him with a girl she told me it would never happen because he likes guys. But you're right, I shouldn't have done it. I'm really sorry.

"You should be! That was really mean!"

"I'll make it up to you, okay? I promise."

"No. You've helped me enough. And look where it's gotten me."

"Nico I-"

"Go away."

She sighed, but left. As soon as she did I realized how mean I had been and I immediately felt guilty. I shouldn't have yelled at her. She really did have good intentions, it just didn't work out very well. I slumped against the wall.

Great. Now one of my friendships is ruined.
