this pond is no place for a turtle
sure, there may be so many
surrounding the murky water,
basking in the sun and
contributing the algae

he won't stay here, there's
so much more out there
than this stupid little thing
he tells his parents,
and they go back into their shells
after rolling their eyes and
denouncing his dream

that night, though, he leaves
and under the stars with the aid
of the moon, a journey is brought
upon the world, and he
won't stop for anything

home existed where he was, not
where everyone else had thought him to be
there's no one who knows who he is
outside of this little alcove
so he'll make a name for himself
