it happens again

flashing, in and out of sight
mocking me as i run blindly

through this endless hallway
the pattering of my feet resound
in my ears from the wall, but that

light just keeps on blinking, and
i know it's watching me, it's doing the same

hold you in triumph and 
look at everyone else as though they

were looking at me when i did
what i needed to do, see guys,
it's gone, it's done for, it's eradicated

they go on with their business, not willing
to change their attention, and so i'll
put the light down, let it go

it will run, and run, run
and i will not catch it again
