(Y/n)'s mind raced as she continued to run down the hallways and out the front doors of the school.

'Why would he do that?' (Y/n) thought as a small tear left her eye, 'I've waited for him to kiss me for years while we were dating! But now he..'

Shaking her head at the thought and lingering touch of the male made her skin crawl. Turning a corner she abruptly stopped when she hit a warm wall making her fall only to be caught by a sweaty hand.

"(Y/n)? What's wrong?" Kazuki's familiar voice asked, calming (Y/n)'s emotions down before her teary eyes met Kazuki's own shining blue eyes filled with concern.

"K-Kazuki... Hiro.." Recalling the events the girl gave Kazuki a bone crushing hug and soon felt warm wet liquid staining his chest.

Kazuki looked down to find (Y/n)'s tears soaking his shirt as she began to bawl in the males arms. Wrapping an arm around the girl's body he embraced her in a loving hug."It'll be alright.. Don't worry it's okay."

"I can't wash his taste out of my mouth."

Kazuki's eyes saddened as he put a hand on the girl's hair before ruffling it up, "Want to get something to drink then?"

(Y/n) shook her head, "I tried with water.. I don't think it'd help.. It's still there..."

Kazuki took her hand before he took her down to the first floor in silence, "Let's go get you ice cream instead then, yeah?"

"I-I think that'd be great.." (Y/n) muttered as her heart calmed down with each passing minute.

With a silent nod Kazuki put his arm around her shoulder and slightly pushed her out of the courtyard and onto the road while he followed in pursuit. The walk to the ice cream parlor they usually attended wasn't long, but the painful silence that lingered between the two friends made the trip last longer. After ten minutes of walking in silence the two reached the parlor and entered through the double doors almost immediately being engulfed with the scent of sweets. Each of the friends chose their flavor of ice cream before setting down in the lounge area outside.

With the other chairs taken the two sat side by side on the bricks that lined the big oak tree in the sitting area outside, neither choosing to speak. (Y/n) took small licks on her ice cream cone while Kazuki took a small spoonful of his ice cream, unsure of whether or not he should start the conversation he kept quiet opting that if she wanted to talk she would talk.

With a small stammer (Y/n) began to end their silence, "I don't know what to do Kazuki. With everything going on it's just been so difficult and.."

"You don't have to talk about it.. It's been hard, with everything that you've been through this week. Hiro had no right to do that and.. Right after Kanon went missing? That's just.." Kazuki stopped talking once he noticed the frown that crept up on (Y/n)'s face, "Right.. Not the time to talk about it."

(Y/n) shook her head, "No it's fine! It's just been..." getting tired of repeating herself she offered a smile to change the conversation, " I'm glad you're here Kazuki. You've always seemed to be my knight in shining armor, you're always saving me."

He felt his heart skip a beat while his face erupted in red at the new nickname the girl gave him. Kazuki stayed quiet for awhile in an attempt to calm his heart down before speaking to the girl, "I'll always be there to save you (Y/n) you're one of my close friends and.."

Hazel eyes came in contact with the ice cream cone that was currently being held in (s/c) hands, the (flavor) ice cream was dripping down onto the girls school uniform. "(Y/n) you should finish the ice cream, it's kinda melting."

Panic arose on her face as she looked down on her lap before looking back at the ice cream in betrayal. (Y/n) puffed her cheeks out and attempted to shove the ice cream in her face while Kazuki watched in amusement. With all her efforts on trying to keep the ice cream from dripping on her resulting in failure Kazuki laughed and offered the girl his ice cream bowl that was nearly empty.

"Just dump it in here, it's fine." Kazuki smiled which caused (Y/n)'s own heart to quicken its pace.

Dumping her cone upside down in his bowl (Y/n) laughed a little at how pathetic she and the ice cream cone was. Slightly embarrassed, the girl set down the bowl on the stone next to the two teens before she tried wiping herself off from the ice cream with the napkins the workers had given her before.

:"I'm sorry. I'm such a mess." (Y/n) laughed again that day as she finished cleaning herself up, "Man now I'm so sticky..."

Kazuki laughed as he pulled a smirk on his face, "Not the first time I've done that to a girl, eh?"

(Y/n) smiled as she tried suppressing a laugh as she tried looking mad at him, "Y-You.." she stopped as she looked at Kazuki's goofy smolder look before she started laughing, "You're such a dork."

Hearing the girl's laughter made Kazuki smile as he stopped giving her the smolder before his eyes caught on something else wrong with (Y/n). "Dude you are a mess, because your whole face is covered in (flavor) ice cream."

(Y/n) stopped laughing and tried cleaning herself up as Kazuki grabbed more napkins before he helped her wipe it off her face. In the moment the world slowed down for the two of them, Kazuki's hand caressed her cheek, no longer wiping the ice cream off of it, but instead he leaned closer. Both teens leaned in closer, (Y/n) felt her friend's soft warm breath on her lips and before she knew it their lips met in a wondrous harmony, the sweet taste from the ice cream seemed like nothing compared to the kiss now. Unfortunately the warmth of the kiss did not last long as her male companion jumped back in the realization at his action before he became flustered with a red beat face.

"Oh my gosh, (Y/n) I'm so sorry! I-I didn't..." Kazuki slammed his mouth shut when he felt the soft hands of the girl he had just kissed resting on his own, flabbergasted Kazuki looked at her with wide eyes and confusion before he let the girl speak.

"Hey.. It's okay." (Y/n) smiled warmly, her face still erupting in a blush, "I wasn't expecting that but... I'm glad it did."

Kazuki remained speechless at the girl's response and before he could process fully what she was saying she cut off his thoughts as she continued to speak, "I'm glad it happened cause... Kissing Hiro was traumatic, but I feel like experiencing your kiss... Filled with love and... "

Sighing (Y/n) straightened herself and looked into Kazuki's hazelnut eyes with her own (e/c) ones before she started where she left off, "I understand if this makes you uncomfortable, but I do hold feelings for you, I think. I don't regret kissing you and it helped get rid of Hiro's taste in my mouth, along with the ice cream too."

The duo remained speechless before Kazuki's face turned redder than ever, yet he was smiling. "(Y/n) I have liked you for... a really long time" Kazuki chuckled as she grabbed the girl's sticky yet soft hands into his own and stared at them, "but seeing you happy is what I loved the most in life."

(Y/n) listened silently as her mind geared itself as she processed what was happening. Kazuki looked back up to meet the girl's (e/c) eyes before he finished his thought, and with a deep breath he asked, "I know you're still confused with what's going on lately this year, and Hiro, but I do hope one day you will return my feelings. Would you go out with me?"

Feeling the breath leave her lungs she stopped breathing, (Y/n) knew this was going to happen due to the kiss and despite those moments of preparing herself for the question he was going to ask were futile. Her heart wouldn't stop hammering itself in her chest and the blood pulsing through her veins felt like it all headed to her cheeks as her face turned redder than Kazuki's own. Mouth agape, (Y/n) stared wide eyed at Kazuki before she took a moment to let out a deep breath through her nose.

"You don't have to respond right now." Kazuki interrupted haphazardly as he was in a panic, "Dwell on it. I know this is a lot I'm so sorry I shouldn't-"

"Kazuki it's okay." Smiling again for the fiftieth time that day due to the male, (Y/n) pulled his hands into her chest and hugged it, "I'm so glad you told me. It really has made me extremely happy, despite the situations, but I still need time to process things."

Kazuki smiled at the answer as he pulled his hand away from her and leaned back on his arms and looked towards the auburn sky turning dark. With a large sigh Kazuki spoke, "I've been wanting to tell you that for quite a long time. Mimi knew, of course, but agreed to keep it a secret, hell she even tried setting us up while you were dating Hiro."

(Y/n) laughed at her friend's nature, "Unlike Hiro I'm no cheater so I would've not cared to cheat like he would, however I also feel like I wouldn't have noticed your intentions towards me."

Kazuki laughed and nodded at that, "Yeah. I think our first year Yuu found out too despite him being extremely dense with emotions. I think everyone knew but you and Hiro, I was so obvious!"

(Y/n) laughed and glanced down at her now fully melted cup of ice cream before she looked back at the setting sun, "We should head home. It's getting dark and we need to head home before the moon comes up since that's when the gangs hit."

"Well actually, it's a new moon today."

Rolling her (e/c) eyes (Y/n) slapped Kazuki's arm playfully before she realised what the male was wearing, "Y-You're still wearing your basketball uniform!"

Confusion erupted on the males face before he looked down at his bright blue uniform, "Well I was heading to the locker room when you ran into me."

Turning her smile into a frown (Y/n) tried wiping down the ice cream stains on the uniform, "I got ice cream and tear stains on that! I'm so sorry I'll clean it up for you-"

Kazuki smirked at the opportunity, "Wow (Y/n) you turned me down but you want me to strip for you already?"

(Y/n) face turned beet red once again before she hit him across the head causing his blonde locks to fly everywhere, "You dumbass.."

Silence returned among the two, but it was a comfortable silence. With a smile Kazuki patted the girls (h/c) hair, "Don't worry about the jersey or anything. I won't clean it" The girl went to object but Kazuki placed his thumb on her lip to stop her from speaking, "The jersey is special because it will remind me of our first kiss and this moment."

The girl's face opened and closed a few times like a fish before she smiled and let out a scoff, "That's gross man. Mimi won't allow that."

Kazuki stood up stretching his back, allowing the girl to see the muscles flex on his back, not that she would mention it, before he turned around and held out his hand towards her.

"Let's go home."

Sorry it's been a LONG while, but a lot happened at work so.. Regarding corona one of my managers tested positive along with an overnight associate this week so I'm lowkey kinda worried but I should be fine?? Also my hours increased to 40 so I'm dying like a real adult in work. I hope you guys liked this chapter of fluff! I might make the lemon/smut in a separate book maybe? Or I'll just add it to this story and of course make it where it's not a needed read in order to progress through the story, but it will mentioned most likely.  Anyway have fun guys and stay safe please!
