I Can See Through Her Eyes

Flamethrowers, could be easily snuck into a forest that no one dared venture. Especially those with iron in them.
I was feeling pretty proud of myself right now. I had taken the few individuals who would come with me to the forest, I just had to pick something up first. I had received a phone call from my friend saying my package should have arrived, and before I met with my buddies to cause massive chaos and terror, I wanted to find the mutant that had been hiding in human's midst.
I pulled up outside my lab and turned the keys to my car. The rumbling quieted, and I pushed open the door and walked up to the mail box. Running my hands through the contents and frowning, nothing for me.
There was a click, and I turned to see my janitor locking up.
"Hey Jack, if you're expecting something, a package came for you yesterday, all important looking, set it right on your desk if you need to go back in." he gestured with a sweaty hand at the now open door.
I nodded and stepped through memories of how I had found the blood sample coming back. the old creepy house, the wooden doorframe with sharp splinters sticking out. One of them with a fresh coat of blood dripping off.
I spied the yellow envelope on my desk. I casually lifted it up and undid the metal clasps, a piece of paper slid out, but it was backwards and I couldn't read it. I slowly turned it over...
My phone ringed in my pocket and I dropped the paper in my pocket, not seeing the information just yet. Pulling out my phone and seeing it was from my fellow tree burners, I pressed the answer button and pulled it up to my ears.
"This is Jackson Black?"
"Yeah Jack, come on, we're waiting for you, what's the hold up?"
I could practically feel the piece of paper burning in my pocket. My hand slipped down as if touch would give me an answer.
"I'll be right there." My hand slipped out and I pressed the hangup button.

Flying was amazing, the wind at my very wingtips, ruffling my feathers and pushing me up in warm drafts. But I had little time to savor it, Zara needed rescuing, along with Jay.
"Straight up," I told him, "Then we're clear of trees."
He gave a sharp nod and twisted into a tornado-like position that shot him straight up and above the reaches of the clutching pine. I tilted my secondaries down and rose, picking up Zara's scent without problem.
While we were flying at high speeds, I noticed ever growing headaches in the back of my mind. At first they were so subtle I ignored them, then they became persistent, like a knocking at the back of my skull, demanding to be let in. i tried to push it away but it consumed me.
At first all I got was colors, lot's of colors, then I felt pain throughout my whole body like harsh ocean waves. I gasped and forgot how to fly for a moment. Then I could see.
I was standing in front of a court full of birds and shouting at a small one in particular. A scrawny little thing without his battle armor. I recognized him as Haku, but my voice was higher than normal and more fierce. And I didn't appear to have control over my limbs, rather, someone was controlling me.
I was seeing from Zara's eyes.
She was telling the court about the illegal handling of the Forbidden Metals. And as I watched, the roof burst into flame, and dozens of bees came flying in, killing and capturing as many birds as they could get their hands on. Zara was caught in the crossfire and I gazed helpless, as she was scooped up and burned slightly.
:Don't worry Zara, we're coming to rescue you.
I thought, though it echoed around so much I felt like I could have been speaking. She lay still, and my vision returned to normal. I was hovering, while jay screamed obscenities at me.
"I will throw this pineapple, you hear me!!?" He yelled.
"Zara's in trouble, we need to get there fast." I said, ignoring his previous comment.
He dropped the fruit and sped after me, I pushed myself harder than I ever had before. And pretty soon a colony of burning round, spherical nests came into view. Along with a flight of bees taking, all holding bulging, some squirming, nets full of birds. Some were deathly still, unmoving, not even a twitch.
I spotted Zara almost immediately, there was like this force drawing me towards her.
But she wasn't lively either. her limbs were stiff and eyes were blank. Was she....
I pushed it out of my mind, diving sharply, careful to avoid the wandering gaze of the bees. But their multi lensed eyes seemed glaze, an didn't notice me.
Jay and I hovered by her net and I made quick work of tearing into her net with my teeth and claws. It felt like the most natural feeling. Just a week ago I wouldn't have dreamed of it.
Dreamed of it.
Dreamed of it
My head exploded in sudden agony. I fell from the sky. My body slammed into a tree branch and I screamed in pain. pictures flashed before my eyes, they were blurry and I couldn't make them out. But I could hear voices, a girl's soft laugh, the feeling of my friend's fur when they brushed against me. It was all so familiar. I tried to remember who they were, what these feelings meant, it was on the tip of tongue. Just out of reach, this was frustrating due to the fact I spent half my life with severe amnesia. I hated not remembering things.
Someone was shaking my shoulders, and I realized my eyes were closed. When I opened them, Zara's face was staring worriedly into mine, her mouth was moving but I wasn't hearing any of it.
"Are you okay?" I asked, and everything snapped back into focus.
She nodded, a bittersweet smile forming upon her face. "More than okay, my brother is alive."
