The Double Fake
Percy was saved from having to comment further on Emmy's involvement by an explosion echoing through the halls outside.
Zelos looked up sharply, frowning. "Now what on Gaia could that be?"
Emmy was staring at Percy. He glared at her and she glanced at Zelos, then back at him.
When his expression didn't change, she rolled her eyes and made a subtle stabbing motion, then looked pointedly at Zelos again.
Percy's eyes widened.
Emmy made a quick 'hurry up!' motion, then began to speak. "Sir, maybe we should look into that. It wouldn't do to have a bunch of Olympians bursting in on us. Or even the Avengers, they may mostly be mortal but they're incredibly resilient."
Percy crept forward as Zelos turned to her.
"Em, darling, do you really think I can't outpace a bunch of stuffy gods or a few... how should I put this... overly stimulated mortals?"
"Gross." Emmy made a face. "I hate that word."
"Stimulated?"
"Yes." She glared.
Zelos snickered. "Why? Of all words, dear girl, why is the word 'stimulate' one th- AAAAGH!"
"Your aim was off." Emmy informed Percy as Zelos collapsed, with the special sword in his chest. "You should have cut off his head."
"It's enchanted." Percy shrugged. "It'll kill him either way."
"Are neither of you worried at least a little bit at how... anticlimactic that was?" Frank spoke up. Now that Zelos was... incapacitated,he supposed was the right word, a god couldn't die... he was over by the cells again, trying to figure out how to open them.
"It was anticlimactic because it was a front." Emmy said calmly, waving her hand over Zelos. A key sprung from inside a pocket and flew into her hand.
"I thought you told me you didn't have magic." Percy said in an accusatory tone.
"Did I say that?"
"Pretty sure."
"I lied." She shrugged and began to unlock the cells.
"Is everyone alright?" Frank asked, checking people over as they left their cells. He seemed particularly worried about Nico, which was unsurprising because the boy was the youngest of the group. He was clinging to Will again now.
"I think so." Reyna nodded. "Are you... three okay?" She glanced at Emmy before finishing the sentence.
"I think we are. Emmy, you alright?"
"Yeah, other than some emotional damage. He threatened my mom." She shrugged and pocketed the key. "Never know when that'll be helpful, right?"
Percy nodded slowly, then crossed his arms. "Okay, what do you mean by Zelos being a 'front'?"
"Well, he's a relatively weak god, even with the support of his siblings." Emmy tugged the shirt with his face on it off as she talked, revealing a blue tank top underneath. "He was made to be the scapegoat for a group of gods that want to overthrow the Olympians."
"How do you know all of this?" Frank asked.
"Because I'm an unassuming sixteen year old legacy who no one thought had any powers and I don't talk when I'm around people I don't like or know well." Emmy said flatly. "Was the explosion yours?"
"Might have been." Percy shrugged. "Wouldn't put it past Tony. Let's get everyone out of here before the entire building above us collapses. We'll get everyone home and then talk strategy again after that."
He went over to Zelos and pulled the sword out. That might come in handy later.
"Beware, son of Poseidon...." The god choked out weakly. It was obvious he was very close to death. "You'll never... see the Olympians win... the Fates themselves have said so...."
"Yeah I'll keep that in mind." Percy rolled his eyes and brought the blade down on Zelos once more, finishing him off.
The explosion did indeed turn out to be Tony's. The Avengers were outside the building when Percy stepped into the sunlight, talking to local law enforcement. He shook his head and whistled to get their attention.
"We've got civilians!"
Bruce hurried forward, wearing what looked like a specialized EMT uniform. Percy recognized the logo on it as Stark Industries.
"They're all teenagers." He said, looking horrified as he took stock of Percy's friends.
"And they're upset. They've had a long day, we should get them home." Percy said firmly.
"You heard him, get moving." Tony barked at the city's EMTs that had just pulled up. They flew into action and Tony took the moment to pull Percy into a hug.
"I'm glad you're safe."
Percy just buried his head in Tony's shoulder. It was better than making some comment about how he was a demigod, he was never safe.
[A/N tbh I like Emmy too much as the character that I've made her to do that to her and just toss her aside]
