Immortal Enemies- Hatebreed (TURN YOUR VOLUME DOWN)

Percy POV

"Agon. Greek daimon of contest. More powerful than you'd think and potentially very dangerous."

The group sat around the table, quiet. I showed them JARVIS's entry that he'd sorted out for me.

"So this is from your dad's end for sure?" Natasha asked.

"Absolutely."

"What can we do about it?" Steve asked.

"I.... don't know." I admitted finally with a sigh. "Agon's myths are few and far between. There's so much about him that no one in the Greek world knows, and we're going to be fighting blind in this."

"We should call Matt." Clint joked. Everyone else gave him looks of annoyance.

"No." I said firmly. "The fewer mortals we involve in this the better. They'll be up against something they can't possibly comprehend well enough to take down."

"Well you're not getting rid of us." Tony crossed his arms.

"I get that." I rolled my eyes. "I'm saying we're not bringing in anyone new."

"Shame. There's some recruits I've been looking into-"

"When did this become a recruiter's agency, Stark?" Steve asked sharply.

"Isn't that what it always should have been?" He challenged in response.

"Not the time!" I interrupted before they could go any farther. I knew they'd been arguing about this for quite a while.

"The first thing you should all do is consult Poseidon." Mom suddenly commented. "And the rest of the gods."

Thor shook his head. "I will not be allowed in."

"The rest of the group can go. Or maybe we can get them to make an exception."

"Zeus won't allow it." I sighed. "An opposing god of thunder in his territory? No chance. He's a pompous idiot."

Mom sighed as well. "That.... man.... has such a problem."

"Okay, so we go to the gods for answers. What happens when they turn us down?" Tony asked.

"We start digging." I said determinedly. "I'm going to call my dad. I'll have a meeting set up hopefully within an hour."

--------------------------------------------

We got a lot of weird looks from people as we walked into the Empire State Building. It's not extremely surprising to see one or two of the Avengers wandering around New York, but almost all of them? Yeah, that's weird.

The guy at the front desk didn't look up at us as we walked in. I marched straight up and leaned on the counter. "Key to the 600th floor."

"Kid there is no-" I grabbed his book and pulled it from his hand. He looked at me and his eyes widened in surprise.

"Key. 600th floor. Let's go." I glared at him.

"Okay okay!" He handed it over. "May I have my book back?"

I glanced at the cover as I handed it back. "Nice choice. Won't tell you what happens at the end."

"Thank you." He said emphatically, opening it back to the page he'd been on.

"This way." I led the group to the elevator.

"Ugh. This music is awful." Tony complained.

"Yep. Gotta deal." I sighed.

The ride up was silent, other than the bad jazz. I stood quietly and listened to the sounds of the others shifting uncomfortably.

Finally the doors opened to bright sunlight illuminating a figure in front of us.

"Tone it down, Apollo, I don't have sunglasses." I complained.

The god of the sun stepped forward, grinning his megawatt smile. "Heya Perce!"

"Are the gods ready for us?"

"Yeah, follow me. I'm s'posed to bring you to them."

I refrained from rolling my eyes as he turned on his heel and started walking to the Throne Room of the Gods.

Our group continued in its silence as we approached. Apollo threw the doors open dramatically.

"Perseus Jackson. You've requested a hearing with the Olympian Gods. Stand forward and address."

Ah yes. Formalities.

I walked to the center of the room. "Lord Zeus, I have requested an audience with your council for a very important reason. With me are the Avengers, a group of mortal warriors who protect the Earth from mortal evil."

"Avengers. Stand forward." Zeus boomed.

The group moved forward.

"Address."

Natasha spoke first. "Natalia Romanova, Lord."

Clint spoke up after her. "Clint Barton, Lord Zeus."

One by one they introduced themselves. Then the gods stood one by one and addressed the council. It took an irritatingly long time. Formalities weren't helpful when a mad deity was threatening the world.

"Now, Perseus, for what reason are you standing before us?" Zeus finally asked.

"I need information about the daimon Agon."

The room went silent and I nearly groaned out loud. They weren't going to be helpful.

"Athena, I believe you might be able to help them best." Poseidon finally spoke.

I turned to the goddess of wisdom. Her brows were furrowed deeply as she thought. If I had to guess I would have said she was checking her mental library catalog a read-through.

"I can." She said finally. "With dismissal of the council, I will accompany Perseus and his friends to my library and show them what I can give them."

[A/N I apologize for the deafness, I picked the song solely for the word 'enemies' in the title. Sorry if you didn't see my warning]
