How To Save A Life-The Fray

Frank POV

I tried to push past my classmates without being too obvious.

It was impossible. I'm a Lacrosse player for a reason. Giving up, I let the tide of the terrified students carry me out the doors.

Once outside, the crowd dispersed, students running for home. They were aided by arrows that rained down on any monster who got too late, and I had to smile, knowing who was doing that.

Someone screamed behind me. I whirled, eyes scanning for who was in trouble.

Hazel!

She was backed up against a wall by two dracaena. The snake women hissed and spun their swords as they closed in on my friend.

Well, more than a friend, but we weren't anything official yet.

Frank, focus! She won't be anything more than a friend if she dies!

I took stock of the situation. The first thing I noticed was that they hadn't brought out the Hulk. Thor was shooting across the sky with Tony and Percy, taking out monsters left and right. They wouldn't reach Hazel in time. Natasha was on the ground by herself and very occupied. And judging by the trajectory of the arrows, Clint couldn't even see her, since he was on the other side of the school.

No one could reach Hazel but me.

I bolted towards her. Imagining the snake women as enemy team members, I slammed into them full speed and pushed them sideways. I quickly slit their throats with their own swords, but something hit me on the back of the head right afterward.

"Frank!" Hazel yelled. She dragged me away from the piles of dust, which was impressive given how tiny she is, especially compared to me.

As my vision cleared, I saw a laistrygonian giant stomping towards us. The only thing I could think of to combat this was an elephant, but I could hurt Hazel and that was not an option.

Hazel helped me to my feet and we tried to run, but all options were covered.

"Incoming!" The giant stumbled back as a large gash appeared in its chest. Something grabbed Hazel and I and shot into the air.

"Good gods, man, you weigh a ton." A voice grunted.

"Percy!" Hazel shrieked. "Put me down!"

"Give me a second!" He said through gritted teeth. We started turning towards the students who were pointing and yelling.

Percy dropped low and let Hazel down, then shot up into the air faster than I would have thought was possible for him. He was heading to a tower across the school from Clint.

When we landed, Percy started panting. "Gods, that was awful."

"Where the Pluto is your mask? And your glove?" I asked him.

"No time for them. Nat was going to get squished." He suddenly turned sideways slightly and began to talk louder. "Yeah, I've got him. He doesn't have any of his stuff though." As he talked, he reached into his utility belt and handed me a comms unit. I slipped it in just in time to hear Clint say, "No problem, I'll send something over."

"How do you plan on doing that?" I asked.

"Welcome to the party, Frank!" Tony cheered. He flew past, flashing us a double thumbs up, then blasted a harpy out of the air.

"Still don't see how this is a party." They heard Nat mutter.

An arrow thunked into the concrete on the edge of the building we were standing on. A few seconds later, Clint latched a bag to the zipline he had set up and my stuff was sliding towards us. Percy grabbed the bag, then Clint ordered we cut the line. I opened my bag and started getting my things together as Percy sliced the cord and pulled the arrow out of the concrete, which took a bit of work on his part.

He handed it to me. "I'm sure you can make use of that."

"Percy, I could use a bit of help down here." Natasha's voice was muffled by the sounds of snarling. We looked down to see her trying to deal with three huge dogs that I knew were hellhounds.

"On it." Percy saluted me and jumped off the edge of the building, diving towards his teammate. Right before he reached the fight, his wings shot open and he landed feet first on one of the huge creatures. Over the comms I faintly heard the snap that meant its spine had broken, then the giant dog dissolved into dust. Percy turned on the second one while Nat focused on the third.

Drawing back my first arrow, I left Clint to watch the students still leaving the school. I hoped no one could see me, that would suck. I let the projectile fly and it ripped through the wing of a harpy, knocking her off course and resulting in her landing on the head of another laistrygonian. I chuckled as I picked another target and shot.

"Keep it up, Frank." Percy said over the comms. I saw him shoot into the air again, having left Natasha to her fight. It was just that last hellhound now, but Tony replaced Percy anyway. The two of them seemed to have developed a system, one was on the ground and one stayed in the air with Thor. It worked pretty well.

"Nice shot, Clint!" Nat yelled as a huge cloud of golden dust erupted where a huge dog had been.

"Thank you." He heard a groan from Clint's end. "There's a bunch of kids that won't leave."

"I'm on it." Frank watched as Natasha ran to the gawking students and began to shoo them away, keeping her eyes on the approaching monsters and popping off the occasional shot if one of them got too close.

"I think we've almost corralled them!" Tony cheered. He and Percy had switched places again.

"Now we just need to find out where they came from." The son of Poseidon said gravely.
