It had been a week since I saw Mani being tortured. Miracously he never showed any signs of pain, nor any marks on his body. I couldn't figure out why though. I walked to the library. Byron had pointed my in the hopefully right direction. I needed to find out why I could heal myself, why Byron got sunburnt when he touched me, why I kept having strange dreams. I needed answers.

Zehra and Bron trotted behind me, having already learned the meaning of the words "come", "sit", and "stay". I went to a section labeled "myths, legends, and more". I figured this was a good place to start since whatever I was obviously wasn't normal.

I opened up a book that was titled "Mythical Creatures of Darok That Actually Exist" I opened it and flipped to the first page. A picture of something called an "Airo" was on it. It look similar to a small dog with wings but I didn't read much into it since I'm obviously not a dog. I scanned each page then finally found something that resembled a human.

The legendary Dire of Darok.

This extraordinary creature inhabits the Eastern Forest and the Beyond. It is an extremely dangerous shape shifting creature that is most commonly found in the form of a human. Dires have several abilities including power over the elements, shape shifting, and healing. They also have super senses and are considered to be the most dangerous inhabitant in Darok by the MCSAoD (Mythical Creature Studies Association of Darok). Famous zoologist Dr. Juan Manuel Wells noticed that the creatures are similar to Werewolves. Instead of have a destined mate though, they chose theirs and claim it by leaving the paw or hoofprint of their common on the shoulder of their mate.

You may be wondering what a common is but the answer to your question is simple. Remember how I said Dires are shape shifters? Well a common is the animal they shift into first.

Now a purebred Darok can learn to shift into any animal; a half-breed or less can only shift into their common, if at all. Half-breeds also can only manipulate one element. They can heal though and even though they do have super senses but they are much less powerful than that of a purebreed.

I grabbed the book and began to walk back to my room, calling Bron and Zehra to my side. I bumped into the stiff frame of Prince Lyulf and I bowed.

"Prince Lyulf, forgive me." I say shyly.

"Will you please just call me Lyulf? That's what my friends call me. Only people who fear me call me Prince Lyulf." He says, then stoops to pet Bron and Zehra.

"Of course Pri- Lyulf." I say, a faint blush on my pale face. I couldn't understand why the princes were so kind to me. Well.... other than Prince Raiden.

"I assume Archer said you could keep them?" Lyulf said as he sat down on the floor and began to play with Bron and Zehra.

"Yes, my prince. Lyulf. Yes, Lyulf." I say and shake my head. Lyulf chuckles at me and plays with the puppies.

"Archer, Byron, and I have always had a soft spot for animals.... Raiden only likes dragons..." Lyulf says, a sad smile on his face.

"Sometimes I think that he's going to turn out like my father....." Lyulf says, tears filling his chocolate colored orbs. He wipes them away as soon as he notices they're there.

"Someone's coming, follow me." Lyulf says as he stands and picks up Bron. I pick up Zehra and Lyulf leads me to a secluded corner of the library.

I look and see Raiden walking by, silent as a lion stalking it's prey. He keeps walking and then I hear a frustrated groan coming from where I had found the book of mythical creatures. I look down and see that I have the book in my arms and Zehra is sniffing it furiously.

Lyulf smiles down at me, then signals for me to follow him. Of course I followed him I mean it's follow him and get my puppy back or stay with a physcopath.

Lyulf leads me through several hallways till we stand in front of his bedroom. He sets Bron down and I set Zehra down. Lyulf turns to me and says.

"So.... You're a Dire of Darok eh?"

Thank you so much for reading! I really hope you enjoyed reading this chapter! Sorry that this chapter is so short but I've had writer's block and several exams. I know that that's no excuse for this being a horribly short chapter but I just figured I'd give you my reasons.

So there's this cool burger place in my area and they serve the best grilled cheeses and fries; that is tied with queso.
