Meet Lex
"Come on, you got to come!" Jess complains pulling on my arm. This girl is like almost as stubborn as me. For the past week she's been begging me to come to this girls party all week. Roxana Grey, one of the most popular girls in school, and the most popular barbie doll bitch ever in existence.
"I wasn't invited." I plainly tell her. In honesty I don't Roxana very much and I'm pretty sure the feelings mutual.
"Lex, the whole school was invited! That means you too." Jess seemed so excited to go to this. The smile on her face tells me that she wants this more then anything. Jess is much more popular then I am but yet she still lets me hang out with her. Maybe I should go, just to be nice. I let out a sigh.
"Fine...I'll go." I tell her and she jumps up and down with excitement, making her long blonde curls bounce with her.
"Yay! Finally, I get to go to a party with you! This is gonna be so much fun!" She gives me a hug and almost tackles me in the process. Now that could have been messy in the middle of the hallway.
"Hey, isn't your bus coming, like now?" I remind her. Jess has always been a bit forgetful but I can't really blame her. She's just the wild and fun card in the deck. If you're asking what I am we'll I can't really tell you. There is no card for me, I'm like the one who hangs back, kinda like a wall flower but then I can be known for having a lot of energy, and being a social butterfly on occasions. But since I've hung around with my sister for so long I've become kinda like her too.
"Holy Marshmallows! You're right! See ya Lexi! Bye! Love you! See you at the party tonight!" Her voice becoming more and more distant as she continually runs down the hall and out the door.
"Bye.." I say casually knowing he can't hear me from that far away. Sighing I slowly make my way out the door and towards my house. My place isn't that far from school, and it's a pleasant walk. It gives me time to think
In all honesty I don't really think that Dawn will let me go. My older sister is way too overprotective. She is like mum, just worse. Mum was always cautious of everything and everyone, but Dawn's just scared. She seems like she's scared of the world, even of there is nothing to be scared of.
A chill goes up my spine as I pass Roxanna's place. She lives a few blocks down from me, but we never interact. Most of the time we walk past without even a second glance. I don't know why that chill happened, but something tells me it was not caused by the oncoming winter.
Subconsciously I pull my zip up hoodie closer to make it go away. But that feeling state until I got of that block.
"Weird..."
My place wasn't something too fancy but it was cozy. Dawn and I planted the garden when mum was away and it thrived, who says kids can't garden?
Following the small stone path I make my way up to the wooden door. It was open which meant Dawn was at home.
"Ahh!"
That sound and the sudden explosion meant Dawn was cooking...again.
"Dawn...I'm home." I can barely choke out from the smoke coming form the kitchen.
"I'm fine, everything's fine!" She says as I grab out the fire extinguisher and spray the oven, but I also give her a little spray too. Just for good measure.
"And before you say it...yes that was necessary." I tell her putting the fire extinguisher down and heading over to the fridge.
"We'll I'm sorry for trying to feed you!" She says sarcastically and I roll my eyes.
"Your cooking is as messed up as my dreams are." I say placing a bowl of ready made pasta on the table. I made it this morning before I left, I just had that feeling that she would try again.
"Oh so my cooking is like being eaten by dinosaurs?" She says taking the bowl from the counter and putting it into the microwave.
"I'm always chased, never eaten. And yes it is. Absolutely stupid and terrifying." I chuckle before eating my pasta cold.
My sister wore denim jean shorts, with a red three quarter sleeved shirt on. He has her long blonde hair up in a ponytail, which complimented her stunning green eyes.
I on the other hand have longer brown hair tied in a ponytail as well but my eyes are a duller shade of green then hers. I'm wearing a grey hoodie, shorts and knee length black boots.
"Come on! It's not that bad!" She says with a pout. Taking her spaghetti out of the microwave.
"Yes it is." I tell her bluntly. Oh right I have to ask about the party. "Hey Dawn can I go to a party tonight?" I ask.
"No"
"Wow really? Come on." I plead with her, although I knowing that it won't do much good. "It's Roxanna's party."
"I thought you didn't like her." She asks confused.
"True but Jess desperately wants me to go. Come on, just this once!" I beg to her.
"No Lex, it's not a good idea."
"Why not? I don't normally go out and do these things so why not let me so it once! I mean it's just down the road." I begin to get frustrated with her. I mean really, I never ask for anything but yet I can never go to anything when I ask for it.
"Look Lex, you don't know what kind of crazo's are out there. You could get kidnapped or attacked by someone who's brain cells are less then the number of saber tooth tigers left in the world."
"Can't you trust me for once! To know what I'm doing? I can still remember Karate and I'm not put on the track team for nothing. So what's your deal? I am perfectly capable of looking after myself." I say standing up from the table.
Dawn sighs and looks at me, eyes laced with sadness and... Fear? "We'll I suppose you could go. You're right I'm sorry." She tells me with sad eyes
Woah, did she really just say that?
"Thank you." I tell her before we both turn at the sudden crash that came from the lounge room. That can't be good. Dawn and I both run into the lounge room to find our little brother Kale standing over a pile of spilled Lego. I let out a sigh of relief and Dawn chuckles.
"Kay, come on. Lets clean this up before Lexi gets mad."
"Yeah Kay-Kay, don't want to make me mad do you?" Kay quickly shook his head back and forth as in saying no, making his blonde hair -much like Dawns- bounce vigorously. He also has the same bright green colour eyes as dawn. "Very good, now if you excuse me I've got to get ready for a party." I say as I walk up the stairs and into my bedroom.
My room has nothing really special, just a bed, a desk, a walk in cupboard, a book/movie shelf and my guitars. It's painted white and blue, something mum did especially for me before she left and my bed covers were green.
"Now...what to wear..." I mutter to my self as I head towards the cupboard. Now I want to wear something nice, but comfy and not too bright. So I decide to pull out my black dress which reaches above my knee and it's sleeves go to my elbows, the skirt is light and flowy, and I love it. I then grab out the black cardigan to go with it, oh and I should probably wear tights too. Just in case. I quickly pull the three items on before thinking about my shoes.
Looking down at my feet, I try to think of what would work with this outfit.
Probably should stick with black
So I decide to pull out my black knee high boots with a little wedge heel, but aren't unstable to move around in. I take my hair down from the pony tail and let it hang. That seems about right. My silver locket hung around my neck, still shiny as ever as the centre piece on my chest. On the front there were beautiful decorative swirls and inside held the last picture out family took together. That included Mum, Dad, Dawn, Kale and me about 7 years ago.
Kale was only a baby while I was about 7 years old. Dawn would have been about 16 at the time too.
It was a nice look, something I don't really mind wearing. I am more of a tomboy, so preferably I would rather wear shorts and a t-shirt but Jess would kill me for rocking up like that. But it's nice to be dressed up like this every now and again.
"I think Jess will like it." I say giving a twirl before moving towards the bathroom for the final touches.
