CH 4 PT 2

Artemis groaned softly, light beckoning from beyond her eyelids, but her head was pounding too hard for her to focus on opening her eyes. A gentle, yet strong, warm hand was stroking her head, and soft sniffles were echoing somewhere behind her. She took deep breaths, focusing on trying to calm the throbbing of her head. When it was down to bearable levels, she slowly slid her eyes open. Kris was looking down at her, worried, but he smiled with relief when her eyes opened.

"Hey, Artie," he whispered.

"Hey, Kristina. What happened?" she whispered in response, her voice still raspy from illness and screaming in pain. Kris laughed softly and shrugged nonchalantly.

"Nothing much. Just three idiots were worrying over nothing." He chuckled, looking down at her with eyes red from worry and lack of sleep. Laughing, she tried to get up, and then gasped in pain. "You aren't supposed to sit up, idiot," he laughed briefly before helping her lower herself to the bed. She groaned and then winced. "Oh, and you aren't allowed to laugh, either." She smiled and giggled, wincing in pain. "What did I just tell you?!" He growled. Lizzy looked up. Upon seeing that she was awake, she rushed over and hugged her.

"I'm so so so so sorry!" She sobbed.

"Uh, Lizzy, as much as I love you," Artemis said, "I can't breathe." Lizzy giggled softly and released her, tears streaming down her small face. Upon hearing the commotion, Sam bursted in, evidence of tears dried on his face. Artemis smiled. "C'mere Sam," she said, opening her arms for an embrace. He rushed into it, hugging her tightly. "I can't breathe," she gasped again. Sam quickly let go, looking her over worriedly. Artemis looked at Kris, whose head was down and he was silent, gripping onto her hand tightly. "Kris," she said, putting her other hand on his large one. "I'm okay." He looked up, grinning, all evidence of crying gone -- if it even existed.

"I know," he said, smiling sadly. She chuckled, and then cringed, the pain of her broken ribs getting to her. "Just rest up, okay?"

"How long have I been out?"

"Just a few hours, give or take." Lizzy said, smiling even though tears were falling down her face. "Nothing major."

"A few hours?" Artemis asked, sitting up and tearing IVs from her arms, much to the horror of her friends.

"What are you doing?" Sam asked, shocked.

"Going home to take a shower. My illness is gone." And with that, she ran out of the room in nothing but a hospital gown. A nurse came in and gasped.

"Where is she?" she asked frantically. The friends looked at each other and laughed, realizing that Artemis was strong enough to get through it. She ran back in and picked up a jacket. She smirked.

"Forgot my jacket," and she was gone again. Kris laughed and then stopped.

"Hey! That's my jacket!" He yelled. Kris jumped up and bursted after her, scaring the nurse. Lizzy got on Sam's back as they followed suit, her stride being too small to keep up. Outside of the hospital, they found a Dwarf Allosaur with a jacket running from a Utahraptor, shrieking insults.

They shifted into a mental conversation of -- yes, you guessed it -- insults.
