"Come help me, Artemis!" Roger begged, wanting her to show him what she did to create such intricate designs and additions to the cuffs. She glared in response.
"No." She stated and turned her eyes back to her book. Buzz was playing video games in front of the TV.
"Wow, Roger," he said, focusing on his game. "You, asking someone for help?" He sneered. "Thought I'd never see the day."
Roger rolled his eyes in response. "Bug off."
"Don't you mean, Buzz off?" Kris snickered, high-fiving Buzz mid-game. Artemis glared at them for the pun. Kris grinned in delight that it got to her, making a mental note to do it more often. Roger left the room, Kris tailing behind.
"So..." Caruso said, sauntering into the room. "What are you scared of, Artemis?" He was obviously trying to find her weak point to get revenge for his broken mirror. She grunted and rolled her eyes. After turning a page, she searched it and turned it again. She then chuckled menacingly.
"Why do you want to know, Erwin?" She giggled, narrowing her eyes at him like 'I got you'. Her smile told him everything. Buzz, curious at how she knew that, got up and looked over her shoulder.
"How did you get that?" He asked, gesturing towards the yearbook in Artemis' hands. She grinned.
"Who knows?" She snickered, returning her attention to an upset Caruso.
"Ahhh! That day was a horrible hair day!" He whined. When Buzz looked back at Artemis, her face was paler than usual. She made a small squeak, although she tried to cover it.
"What's wrong?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. She pointed at him, screaming. She dropped the book and crawled away. Confused, he looked at his shoulder. "Oh! Cool!" He said, finding a tarantula there. He cupped it and held it out to her. "What are you doing? It's just a spider," he said, holding it out to her. She squeaked again and fell backwards off the couch, landing hard and she backed up to the wall. She then presumed to try to claw her way up the wall.
Kris, upon hearing her screaming, ran into the room, tripping over a chair, and catching himself and immediately getting into a fighting position. "What's wrong?!" He asked. She pointed at the spider that Buzz was holding. Kris rolled his eyes. "Buzz put it away." Buzz shrugged and set it down in its terrarium.
"What's wrong with her?" He asked, gesturing towards the usually confident girl who was currently curled up feebly in a corner.
"She has entomophobia," he said, kneeling down beside her and rubbing her shoulder tenderly.
"And...?" Buzz said, hoping for a much more detailed explanation.
"It means," Lizzy said while getting up to go sit next to Artemis, "that she is deathly scared of all kinds of insects."
"Huh," Caruso said, smirking slyly. "Seems like I know how to get revenge!" He laughed and then immediately stopped, realizing that there was an extremely large shadow over him. He looked up to see an extremely pissed off Sam. He glared down at him.
"Don't even think about it." he growled. Caruso gulped, surprised to see him so angry.
"Right..." He said, slowly backing off and combing his hair. Sam peered down at him until he left the room. The group then tended to the terrified and mumbling girl in the corner.
"Say..." Fiona said, picking up the yearbook that lay abandoned on the ground. "Did you guys even go to school?"
"No, we were home-schooled. If you can call it a home," Kris snorted. Fiona hummed, looking at the old yearbook with a kind of happy nostalgia.
"Are you kidding?" All heads turned to Roger, who looked aghast while standing in the doorway. "You missed out on one of the greatest parts about being a kid! School is awesome! There's just some stuff that you can't learn when you're homeschooled, like social skills--"
"We didn't need those--" Cut in Kris.
"--and how to act around people. Also, you never got to experience the sensation of praying for the class to end and the rush of excitement when the bell rang and the feeling of being jostled in the halls and the sounds of lockers slamming and the panic when the bell rings and you're not in class!" He rambled on. Kris groaned and rubbed his temples.
"Will you shut up if we go?!" He almost screamed at him. Roger smiled and nodded.
"Yes, but to see where you last left off," He said, getting out a bunch of textbooks from a nearby bookcase. "I will quickly put a pretest together to see what you know in terms of all academics."
A few minutes later, Roger had pieced together a test full of things you should learn throughout high school. The teens looked over it and raised a questioning eyebrow.
"Physics?" Kris asked. Roger nodded.
"What's so bad?"
"We learned that a long time ago." Kris groaned. Roger frowned.
"If you did, that would make you smarter than me." He stated. Buzz looked blown away.
"Wow," He said, trying to wrap his head around that theory. "Then you are, like, really smart!"
The four shrugged. "We won a math and science and history competition four years running."
"Against what age?" Buzz asked, wanting to hear more.
"College students," Kris said casually, acting like it was normal. "We did that when we were much younger, too." Roger's frown deepened.
"So I will then make you a college application test to Harvard," he said. Within a few minutes, he had printed it out. He chuckled, thinking that there was no way they would complete it. In less than half an hour, they had all breezed through it. Roger was dumbfounded. "How...?" Was all he could get out.
Sam shrugged. "When you are tutored by the smartest people and genetically engineered to be perfect," he said, with a negative emphasis on the word perfect, "your knowledge goes past the A+ 5.0 college student." Roger stared at them in shock. He was speechless. These kids were probably as smart as he was in highschool when they were in elementary school. He groaned in annoyance, his pride as being the smartest quickly turning to dust. Buzz was laughing at Roger's despair.
"Might as well take off the crown, King." He teased, smiling at his crisis.
"Oh, shut up, Eggplant Head." Roger retorted, irritated. He turned to Fiona, who was smiling cockily. "Just let them go to school and experience it. After all, they have learned the material in Honors classes while they were in middle school."
Fiona looked at the group. "You outsmarted him," She giggled. "Be prepared." The four teens looked at her, confused. Roger then walked in huffing.
"Here you go..." He panted. He then set down a few major boxes with a loud grunt. "You are enrolled and most of the stuff you'll need is in here," he said, gesturing towards the boxes. "Have fun!" He then ran out of the room, chased by Kris shouting things like "You can't make me!" Everyone watched them leave, laughing. Artemis listened to them running down the stairs. She chuckled softly to herself, the memories of the past returning to her.
She softly bit her lip, a small kind of happiness illuminating her eyes. Sam rested his hand on her shoulder, snapping her attention back to reality. She smiled, thanking him with her eyes. His lips twitched into a rare smile and he nodded. Buzz looked at them, his face contorted in confusion.
"Are you guys, like, telepathic?" He asked. Lizzy giggled in response, leaving his question unanswered.
~Time skip brought to you Kal's paragraph deleting cat (WHO CAUSED A BUNCH OF FREAKING PROBLEMS)~
Ahh, school. The stupidly early Monday mornings, the sense of impending dread at the idea of many more stupidly early Monday mornings to come, and the irritation at the idea that every school day from then on would feel like a stupidly early Monday morning. Yes, that's the exact feeling that Artemis was feeling at that moment. Kris and Sam were feeling similar emotions. But Lizzy, however, was skipping ahead of them, an excited gleam in her eye. Artemis groaned.
"I think that she's asking 'how are you so happy?'" Kris said, gesturing to the paler-than-usual girl. Artemis was by no means a morning person, but she was feeling far worse than normal. A bit achey, a bit quakey, and more than a bit sick. Her throat felt clogged with cotton balls, her nose felt stuffy, and her head felt like it was going to explode into nasty goop at any second. She glared at Kris, the dark circles under her eyes made them look much bigger. To Lizzy, although she felt useless to her friend, thought that she looked like a chibi character. A sick one, anyway. She wanted to hug Artemis, but she wouldn't let Lizzy anywhere near her for fear of getting her sick as well. On their way early in the morning to the school, Sam had to help support the sick child. "What are your schedules that Roger gave you?" Kris suddenly asked, breaking a silence that Lizzy had been trying to hold. The compared schedules and the results went like this:
Sam and Lizzy had the same classes from periods 1-3 & 7-8.
Kris and Artemis had the same classes from 1-3 & 7-8.
Artemis and Lizzy had period six together; Kris and Sam had period four together.
Artemis and Sam had period 5 together; Kris and Lizzy had period 5 together.
They all had period 4 together.
Satisfied with the results, they split up for first period.
First, they had to find out where they were going. Suddenly being plunged from a peaceful predawn sidewalk into a boisterous hallway, Lizzy suddenly huddled a bit closer to Sam. To an outsider, they might have appeared no less ordinary than any other pair of students, except for the fact that one of them was over a foot taller than the other, and kind of looked like a short blue-haired, younger version of Hagrid with more muscles. But who's to say that Hagrid didn't have a bunch of muscles and a handsome face in his youth? He had a handsome face that was held strong and high, his hazel eyes determined and unwavering.
Of course, while most girls and some boys were eying the boy, others were focused on the much smaller girl by his side. While she definitely looked old enough to attend high school, the fear on her face made her look eight years old. Her glasses and braid gave her an innocent aura, and she appeared even younger, especially when dwarfed by her companion. She had large gray eyes that were even bigger when magnified by her large glasses. Her petite size added to her young and innocent look. Lizzy's sweater and loose jeans gave her an appearance of someone much older. It competed against her young aura and ended up making her look like a librarian.
Onlookers gawked at them; the two were as different as the moon and water. They gained not only respectful stares, but angry glares as well. They walked into their first class.
Kris and Artemis had gotten the same attention, except for the reasons that the other pair had received it. Their fighting spirit and aura had gained the attention, while their features had held it. Artemis' elven looks included striking bright blonde hair fell in a straight-swaying wave over her back, a silky pendulum that caught the attention of most boys in the hall. Her large multicolored orbs -- far away they were a dark blue, close a green, and closer a dark green-gray -- passed over most of them, giving them a smoldering and slightly judgemental look. Her simple shirt, skinny jeans, and just slightly oversized black jacket accentuated her figure, adding to her slightly ethereal effect.
(Kris, during this time, was angry that Artemis had stolen his jacket.)
Kris' large milk chocolate eyes had gained the girls' attention, and his lips that were turned into an upward smirk held it. His ebony black hair was held back in a low ponytail and his toned body was evident through his tight shirt. To the girls around him, he looked like a playboy. His chiseled face matched his father's and it was evident that he was not of their world.
So basically, in case you didn't care to read the past few paragraphs that the authors had slaved over, to the student body, Sam was handsome, Lizzy adorable, Artemis beautiful, and Kris hot.
Kris and Artemis walked into the classroom, unaware of the gossip surrounding them. They were stuck in their own little word, in which they were still arguing over Kris' jacket.

Artemis was forced to change into the smallest pair of pants she has ever worn: shorts. She unhappily walked out of the changing room to see a bunch of guys and Kris already getting along. Feeling out of place, she leaned against the wall and waited for class to start. She was off in her own little world until some guys had walked up to her and began to talk. She dodged every question, irritating the teens. They began to harass her, irritated at her ability to dodge their advances. Her eyes darted to Kris, not seeing him made her stress out a bit. Her eyes began to dart around nervously. Being sick, she wasn't in the mood to fight.
"Shut up," she said, her voice groggy and low. They sneered.
"She can't talk, huh?" One chimed. She glared at him but failed, being too weak to muster her usual strength. One grabbed onto her arm.
"Let go..." She coughed, trying to fight against him. He sneered and gripped tighter, making her yelp a small bit in pain. Right when she did, she saw a large hand rest on his shoulder.
"Hey, what do you think--" He was cut off by Kris' angry grin. His stare boring into the boy's skull.
"Let. Go." He commanded. The boy didn't.
"What gives you the right to interfere?" Growled one of the other boys. Kris looked at them. One grabbed onto her other arm, making her wince at his strong grip. He chuckled. "So, you don't have a comeback, eh?" The boy asked, smiling.
His smile then disappeared, replaced by fear. Kris' eyes had turned a deep, inhuman purple. It shut the boy up. Kris then grabbed onto the arms hurting Artemis and ripped them off like it was nothing. She sighed in relief and fell to the floor, coughing. Kris turned around, positioning himself in between her and the other boys. Towering over them, it didn't take more than his gathering of a dark aura and a glare to make them run off with their tails between their legs. He breathed and turned around, kneeling to the now frail girl.
"Are you okay?" He asked, his voice soft and not full of its usual mockery. She looked at her arms, which had bruises in the shape of hands. She nodded, signaling that she would be okay. He managed to help her up, just in time for the coach to blow the whistle.
"Okay!" The coach began. "We will see your normal running times. We need to see how far you will have progressed in one year's time." He corralled the teens out of the building and onto the field. With a small shotgun, he fired a blank and signaled the beginning of the run. Artemis and Kris jogged together while everyone else took off running.
"Don't over exert yourself," Kris said, looking through the corner of his eye at the sick girl. She chuckled and then coughed.
"I may be sick, but I can still outrun you anyday." She bragged, picking up speed. He smirked. That's the Artemis he knew. He began to chase her, trying to catch up to her advancement.
Within ten minutes, all the other students had been worn out. They were gawking -- along with the coach -- at the two new students and their competitive natures. They had ran far more than a few miles. They had beaten the school's speed records in no time, and breezed right into the school district's. The teacher stared at them.
"You can stop now!" He yelled, a bit jealous that these two new students were showing him up. They both immediately turned their eyes to him.
"No!" They said in unison. They were footstep to footstep, stride to stride. They were too competitive for their own good. During the 27th lap, Artemis tripped over Kris, and the two fell into a heap of tangled limbs. Fiona appeared on the scene, taking this chance to break up their running act, ushering them inside for water. Kris noticed that Artemis was sweating a bit.
"Calm down, kiddos," Fiona chuckled and went back to her job as coaching for the kids on the swim team. Suddenly, she turned around. "Artemis, don't do that, you are ill!" She scolded, and resumed her way, making Artemis chuckle a bit.
"You usually breeze past that amount of exercise without so much as a drink of water," he commented, raising an eyebrow and sipping his water. She smiled meekly.
"I just don't feel myself today," she whispered softly, taking a large chug of water.
On the other side of the room, some angry and jealous eyes were staring at her, plotting their revenge. Some for out showing them in track, others for her looks and her friendship with Kris.
As for the other pair of new kids, Sam and Lizzy were told to sit on opposite sides of the room, so they could 'get to know other students'. Sam rolled his eyes and followed orders, but Lizzy went as white as a sheet, and had to be manually steered to a seat in the front row. She glanced back at Sam, who was sitting on the end of a row about halfway back. He gave her a reassuring nod, and she gave a weak smile in return. Then she turned to her seating partner, a girl slouched in her seat, looking at something on her phone, chomping down on something scented with mint. Lizzy took a deep breath and smiled slightly.
"H-hi! I'm--" she began, but the girl lifted her hand to silence her before she could finish her sentence.
"Don't care," she said, causing Lizzy to shrink in her seat a bit. She nodded a bit to herself, adjusted her glasses, and silently began counting the seconds until they could go home.
Sam's seating partner was also much less than what he could have wished for. A boisterous boy wearing a football jacket thing talking 25 miles a minute. If his speed at which he was talking could be harnessed into an energy, he would be the end of global warming.
"Hey, new kid!" Sam was jolted out of his thoughts by the boy next to him. "Is that your girlfriend in the front?" Sam followed his finger to where it was pointing at Lizzy. He rolled his eyes slightly and shook his head. "So she's on the market then?"
"No, she isn't, because she is a person, and people can't be bought at the market anymore. And I'd prefer it if you didn't objectify people," he responded sharply. The boy let out a booming laugh, causing a few heads to turn; and Lizzy's to flinch.
"Well, who's gonna stop me?" He sneered, a challenge in his eyes. Sam simply shrugged.
"No one, but eventually, when you're old and your star quarterback title is long forgotten, you might have a chance at figuring out that women aren't objects and they deserve respect, and that they are just as much, or more, of a person that you are. And that there are many girls out there who would prefer a gentle serenader to a meathead who only wants to get in their pants."
~*~
Artemis bounded into Sam's and Lizzy's class after it was done, gaining a strange look from the students and the boy which Sam had burned a few minutes before.
She grabbed their arms, too sick to say a word, and dragged them out.
When the team had reached Ms. M's class, they knew that they would sit together. Ms. M had helped the Dino Squad with their dino-related problems, so why wouldn't she help them? They were sorely mistaken. She split them up, Sam and Kris were sandwiching the rude boy from before and Artemis and Lizzy were up in their own row, alone. The rude boy was extremely mad at Sam, and jealous at Kris for his ability to be naturally handsome. More so than himself. So he decided to bug the crud out of both of them.
"Hey," he said quietly, nudging Kris. "Is the hot blonde down there your girlfriend?" He asked, pointing at Artemis. Kris spared her a glance, then shook his head. "So, she's on the market then?" The boy felt Sam's eyes on him, and smirked slightly. But the smirk dropped clean off his face when Kris simply shook his head again, giving him a pissed glare. The boy turned back to the front, stewing in his own fury, plotting revenge.

Artemis was too tired and fatigued to fight back against the boys who had her and Lizzy cornered. However, she wasn't too tired to keep them off of Lizzy. She positioned herself in between the group of vengeful boys and Lizzy, trying to provide at least a little protection and comfort to the crying girl. They snickered at her.
"Look, she is too weak to fight back!" They sang. Artemis growled, fighting herself to keep her eyes open and her body upright.
"Come here and I'll show you weak," she spat. One rushed at her and she spun around, giving him a strong blow to the side of his face with her boot. Lizzy gasped and huddled further behind her friend.
"You bitch," another cried out, grabbing her arm before she could do anything and another grabbed her other arm. She was far too fatigued to fight back. But no matter how hard they tried, she wouldn't budge from her spot. Lizzy trembled in fear for Artemis. In retaliation for kicking him, the boy stood up and gave her a strong punch to the gut, making her twist inwards. She glared at him in determination.
"Whatchya gonna do?" He taunted. In response, she spat blood onto his face, making him turn in fury. He kicked her ribs, making a spine shivering crack. Artemis gasped for air, her determination wavering from her eyes. Lizzy, for the first time, was watching someone beat Artemis at something. Her fear grew. She looked up to see Artemis smiling weakly at her and motioning something.
Noticing a small gap in between the group, she bolted through them. She felt guilt eat at her for leaving Artemis. Lizzy convinced herself that she was going to get help. Some boys tried to pursue her but failed, unable to catch the swift girl.
"You're friend is a coward for leaving you." The boy spat at her. She smiled, her irises turning red. The boy blinked, shocked. It quickly disappeared.
"Hey, man," one of his friends said, tapping on his shoulder. "I heard that they are close to some pretty strong dudes."
He snapped at his friend. "Does it look like I give a crap?!" He snarled.
Artemis smirked. "Language." She teased, her cocky grin not falling away.
This angered him further. "Shut up!" He roared and kicked her ribs again. This time, she cried out in pain, her walls breaking down. With Lizzy no longer there, she didn't have any reason to hold them up. He shoved her to the ground. She got right back up. "Yield to me!" He screamed. She caught his hand, gripping it.
"You letting my limbs go was a mistake," she sneered. Twisting it behind his back, she did a handstand and grabbed his face with her leg. She quickly snapped his head towards the ground, making him crash face first into it and pass out. The boys then quickly descended on her, like a pack of vicious dogs on a rabbit. Four held her while the others took turns bashing her with their legs and fists. One punched her in the nose, making it gush with blood. She cried out in pain.
Two hands suddenly appeared on his shoulders, making him turn. He looked at two pissed off boys and a small girl behind them. Their faces were contorted in protective rage.
"What makes you think," they said together, their voices unwavering, "that you can touch her?" The boy let out a small whimper.
Within a few moments, the rest of the boys ran away with what little injuries they had. The rest were unconscious on the ground with much more than a broken nose. They helped the passed out girl, Sam picking her up bridal style. Ms. M ran up to them.
"My, what has happened here?" She asked, eyeing them angrily until she saw Artemis, in all of her bloody glory. Her expression changed from stern anger to worry. "Quickly, lets go to the lighthouse. I have medical supplies there."
